The Old Coaster
I got meself a coaster bus,
To make a motorhome.
I checked it out for any rust,
In it we’re gonna roam.
We’ll check out all the freebie sites,
And camps along the Murray.
We’ll get a coupla lectric bikes,
And take our time we’re in no hurry.
We’ll work our way around the place,
Travellin this great wide land.
Out at St George pickin grapes,
Or packin fruit by hand.
We’ll do some fossickin at Rubyvale,
And we‘ll search for nuggets of gold.
The kids are gone the house is for sale,
Lets do it before we get old.
The Coaster’s looking pretty good,
With most the things we need.
A shower ‘n‘ bed ’n’ cupboards for food,
And a stove, to cook ourselves a feed.
There’s a wardrobe for clothes, a TV too.
And a sink to wash the dishes,
A fridge to keep the tucker cool,
Fully screened to stop the midges.
We’ve got maps and books and mobile phones,
We gave away the goldfish.
Henry the cat has a brand new home,
But it’s our friends we’ll miss.
Turn off the lights and shut the door,
We’re packed and ready to leave.
It’s “AKEBIA” you’ll be looking for,
And our friendship you’ll receive.

The Best of A Friend
In the light of day,
there’s where we shall find.
A friendship true,
wise we know,
has not a chance shade to blue.
She is one of my bestie of friends,
where we journey true.
I love her family as well,
she and they,
are a part of me too.
My bestie that I speak of,
her name is Angie.
She’s touched my heart,
in so many ways,
one by one,
on a display.
She’s like this,
anyway!
The compassion she holds,
that is her trait.
Did not give me the right,
not to acknowledge her.
So, shame on me,
thinking I could.
She deserves much more credit,
then I am expressing here.
So, I thought I’d throw this together,
real quick for her,
to boost her morality.
To tell her that I love her too,
she is one of my besties of pals.
You have truly shown,
how much,
a dear friend as you are to me.
I cherish her existence,
that God has blessed me with.

"Pulmonary"
Revelations burn pulmonary
when all the bees no longer roar
life drowns in blue-green
Clairvoyants dance in time
with prophets to flux events
Light folds Dark inside out
Lizards Popes and Politicians
tread water in their black oceans
looking for an open door
Revelations burn pulmonary
when all the bees no longer roar
life drowns in blue-green

“You don't need an ocean to feel like you're drowning.
You feel it, between your chest and your throat,
the weight of it stretching you outside your self,
like a dead fish on the shore.”
“If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe,
then man would have only four years of life left.
No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants,
no more animals, no more man.”
“The bird, the bee, the running child
are all the same to the sliding glass door.”

No rhyme nor reason why
yours truly recalled how
me late mother
(earlier in her fitbit livingsocial years)
non verbally communicated disgust
(insync with audible sigh)
quite often ultimatums
blasting fulminating nauseating
scathing well nigh
she loosed loathing against
grungy looking son (guess who)
futilely escaped wrath of Harriet Khan
clamoring upon rooftop high
offering birds eye view
out of earshot and eyesight aye
catching sunbeams while smiling wry
cowardly lion sought divine intervention
courtesy sheltering sky
acres of shingles I sprawled
these lovely bones did lie
property of garden variety generic guy.
She who helped beget and birth
sole heir inheriting gamut of behavioral quirks
linkedin with many predecessors,
who trod, slunk, roamed...
across planet Earth.
Best bet said present day scribe i.e.
poetic, nonesstablishmentarian, liberal,
jesting, humble, freelance, dilatory bummer
whose hindsight evinced a student dumber
than his classmates wheedled
(as targeted scapegoat) by bullies their flummer
re: entrapped - worse louse than lice
internalized trauma left figurative tread marks
analogous to raging road runner
pressing accelerator pedal of hummer
driven by (an actual person) one Roger Kummerer.
Despite agonizing vicious tongue lashing
against flesh and blood,
which venomous invisible whiplash
never petered out
(even when sundry bloke
got married and gladly left home)
abusive treatment markedly
left appalling, loathing and percolating
ambivalence if though mama passed away
(these last seventeen plus years) wrung
cash crop of poetic endeavors,
albeit resultant lackluster
literary crafted aspirations.
Memory of mom overshadowed
by similar facsimile thereof
think shrieking banshee,
an indelible psychological imprimatur,
I strive to acknowledge
emotional reverberations to date
(May 27th, 2021).
My trademark wordsmith fashioned communiqué
impossible mission to shake off bittersweet feelings
toward once (former) Arthur Murray dance instructor
which fancy footwork synchronized with favorite
debonair handsome young fella (papa)
both flirts buoyant with elan and energy
only thru death will angst become free
interestingly enough hands will clap with glee.
Wimbledon is tennis whites
And strawberries and cream.
Winning there has got to be
A tennis player’s dream.
Watching Roger Federer,
So cool and poised and Swiss,
I knew his lips would give
The champion’s cup its winning kiss.
Andy Murray played his best.
All Britain cheered him on;
But next to Roger’s expertise,
His oomph was up and gone.
There hasn’t been a British champ
Since 1936,
So Andy’s loss went over
Like a crashing ton of bricks.
And yet the crowd was gracious,
Greeting Roger with applause.
Perhaps they knew defeating him
Was really a lost cause.
It’s wonderful to watch a champ
Competing in his prime
And satisfying to pay tribute
With a spot of rhyme.
mary murray would smile at me
as we took a drink or two or three
sometimes maybe we’d just touch hands
we were only friends you understand
she had her loves and I had mine as well
sometimes we’d both giggle but never tell
often we’d sit there in brian’s bar us two
when we both had nothing better to do
and we would talk and all the while
I would look at mary’s smile
and sometimes ache inside deep
and think of her when I couldn’t sleep
we decided to be .together one night
but it somehow didn’t seem quite right
we had one kiss then laughter started
and mutually we quickly parted
a quick embrace then mary I think
said lets get to .brians’s for a drink
its forty years since that day
I watched mary murray drive away
our course had come to an end
both said see you soon old friend
it wasn’t to be and I regret so much
that mary and me just lost touch
I think I have total recall
still think fondly of them all
mick wilf bill titch and paddy
and the smile of mary murray
mary murray would smile at me
as we took a drink or two or three
we were only friends you understand
sometimes maybe we’d just touch hands
Lovingly lauded.. they marauded.. rightly applauded
Saffa gaffers did thrill
Willow wielding wizards of Oz
Yielding…lampooned..marooned..jaffas
Festooned spill just like Seville .
Must remember..the ember burning
Yearning of Temba Bavuma
Kept his sense of humour
Despite being the victim of flimsy whimsy
Many a nasty rumour
I implore you to ignore the tumour
That is Michael Vaughan…dim..grim
Pompous pig or obnoxious prig
Having a dig..more clickbait hate p**n
Unsung and hamstrung..stoic heroic
Temba has brung salvation for a nation
With no Cronje bung..
The only stifling snub
Hell bent pundits in pulpits scream
Not just trifling .. no defending the Saffa culprits
Blunder of sending a sub par side
Alright trite s**e team down under..
Only one man stood sentry…Aidan Markram..often ignored..
Even deplored…a national pastime…his crime
Not being as sublime as in his teenage prime
But such touch..much gumption & grit
Did his bit…hit a century
Sod the rest…now a cricketing god
Against the odds.. has always saved
His Test best for the Aussie conquest..
No longer a sinner…the match winner..
Only one other Saffa..biff Smith’s
Scored more second innings tons..
They did vanquish their perpetual anguish
Their hullabaloo..voodoo..ending
The choke complex.. the hex hoodoo..
No longer Bill Murray day of the groundhog
Finally went the way of the underdog..
So Aidan and Temba we will always remember when
You gave South African Cricket their own
Homegrown ticket to the 25th of December..
Has been glummer.. Gory…still got the bummer
Of no tests in their upcoming home summer
But this a story of glory
Not being woke…not about race
The colour of his face
In history Temba Bavuma with such grace
The best ever test run chase at Lords
Nabbed his place…as the bespoke bloke & ace
Who broke the finals choke & grabbed the golden mace..
Douglas Murray
On various YouTube programs
I have taken an interest in his opinions
about Islam in Europe, and I share
his pessimistic opinions
He is a person of great interest
always well groomed
it appears he spends most of his
time in various hotel rooms, preferable
near a mirror, adjusting his tie
His vanity is amusing
Regarding his view of the Gaza debacle
I fear his dislike (hatred) of Islam
leads him astray by talking about
the October 7/10 atrocities, yet fail
to address the 42 thousand civilians
killed by Israeli bombs, which
he, no doubt, blames Hamas
As a debater, he is superb
his intelligence
of highest quality
I also find his half-smile when delivering
a verbal retort, endearing
I look forward to reading his books
Deemed significant culturally,
a fantastic and old comedy
is this film I love,
which is the tale of
a weatherman played by Bill Murray.
This weatherman Phil has been sent
to cover the groundhog event.
He’s so hard to please,
and that’s because he’s
an arrogant cynical gent.
There’s a blizzard and Phil’s forced to stay
in Punxsutawney for one more day.
He awakes. Something’s wrong!
“I Got You Babe,” the song
by his bedside is what he hears play.
It’s the same song from the day before
when he woke up at six. Out the door,
he goes onto the street.
Things repeat and repeat.
This is something that he can’t ignore.
In a time loop he’s stuck! Each time when
he is hearing “I Got You Babe,” then
that man, once so vain,
begins going insane.
Groundhog Day comes again and again!
When he understands that there won’t be
any punishment whenever he
does anything wrong,
it isn’t for long
before Phil behaves most crazily.
He drives reckless and binges on beer.
Since tomorrow will never grow near,
he drives right off a cliff!
He would not do that if
there were hope, so he’s lost all his fear.
There’s a woman that Phil’s come to know,
and he talks to her every day, so
he can learn more and more
how to make her adore
him! His feelings for her start to grow.
With his efforts to win Rita’s heart,
Phil begins to appreciate art.
He learns French and to play
the piano! Each day
in the townspeople’s lives he takes part.
Seven years come and go. By year eight,
Phil has changed. But will this change his fate?
Knowing everyone’s needs,
he is doing good deeds,
and in Rita’s eyes, Phil’s looking great!
It’s his last Groundhog Day when Phil learns
his life’s lesson. This time his world turns!
Through the great power of
unconditional love
and his good works, a NEW day Phil earns!
“I Got You , Babe” plays next to his head.
But it’s NOT Groundhog’s Day, for instead,
Phil wakens to see
unbelievably
true love won! Rita’s with him in bed!

never turning away from the gentle feeling of you
forever putting the sincerity of your love on a pedestal
that anne murray song in my head making me smile
cherishing each day mostly cherishing you most of all
this diamond ring always shines for me everyday
a song called my belle amie is an unexpected song that we dance to
the electric warmth of your affectionate touch feels as new as the first time i felt it
i cherish each day mostly cherishing you most of all
appreciating the simplicity of life with you
the beauty of you is like a gentle wind in the center of God's Creations
as i hold you close enjoying the vibe similar to a flaming ember,
another song relaxes our mentals....all mind, body and soul with a love that will never grow old
forever we cherish each day mostly cherishing each other most of all....
