It was a dream portraying 'PRELUDES'; not a nightmare of a pre concluded judgment. Defined as an introductory performance or event, the word PRELUDE speaks volumes. This dream was about 'power grabbers and politics', but more.
As I recall, I assisted my son in the purchase of his first car which was a PRELUDE. However, I wasn't thinking in terms of introduction, because that car was indeed the main event. But that's another story, because I don't really know why The manufacturer so named it.
Back to my dream which had answers that did not involve a well made small car. In my dream, there were elaborate plans and blue prints drawn up with anticipations, clever and subtle. There wasn't suppose to be a reprieve to raise the heads of compassion, mercy, and restraint.
The experts had dotted every "I" and crossed evert "T", or so the power brokers thought. The would-be losers were deemed laughable and assigned words like archaic, and out of touch. Staples like unity, compromise, common ground, and diplomacy packed their bags and left town. Detente is a powerful word that describes strained relations between opposing nations, but now
that same word was relevant to loss of civility between people within their own communities.
Things were moving from bad to worse and people in the know were indicating that present events and conditions were PRELUDES of worst things to come. In the midst of all the changing, there were prophets of doom and prophets of hope. Both prophets were surrounded by very dark clouds, but
in the midst of the darkness, there was clearly seen a myriad of rainbows associated with just one of the prophets.
I felt peace as that prophet looked straight into my weeping eyes and said, "Not all is lost; there is still hope". I then awaken from my dream and gave thanks to the God of mercy who always seeks to avoid judgment.

At some point you are going to need to impress more than a few friends with some burnt toast. I used to have an old, heavy-gauge chrome-plated toaster with a dial to adjust doneness from 1-5. I took a Sharpie and scribed a 6 at the extreme. The pointer doesn’t actually go there, but it is useful for indicating my intent. It works better than the 5 setting which merely chars the surface. But 6 chars it darn near all the way through, enlarging the pore structure to retain even more melted butter. You gotta be cautious not to overuse that feature because it’ll burn the toaster, as in overheating the thermostat and melting the whispy wires. No more toast for you. Back at the store they were quick to figure out your attempt to exceed the capacity and the clearly worded statement in the ownership contract will be pointed out to you, that glamorous document with the curly-Q decorations making it supremely authentic like a stock certificate from the 1960’s. They replaced my toaster once, but the second and third times I only got a stern look of reproach. The manufacturer has black listed me through my credit card so now all my toaster purchases are cash only.
The triumphant South Paw (lefty)
I wanted to use my artistic bent
To a world renowned manufacturer I was then sent
"I want to paint your plates and other things
And learn how to put on the pretty golden rings."
“Hold up your hands, tell me which do you use?”
“Why I’m left handed, I don’t get to choose”
"Oh no" you leave now, you leave from this place
We don’t have left-handers here you are a disgrace."
I held up my hands abashed and in shock
This evil thing of mine was the means of the chop
"No said I, I will not be beat."
"Take me to the head boss, and I will compete."
She marched me in and told him my shame,
"She’s no good to us she’s a lefty, she will be lame."
I held back the tears and said "Look I can do this."
"Just give me a chance please don’t me dismiss."
He picked up his pen and started to write,
He was left-handed too I saw to my delight.
"Give her a chance if she can’t do it she’s out."
He winked at me and said “You’ll show them I don’t doubt.”
“But everything is set up for the right-handed crowd.
Speed is of the essence so lefties aren’t’ allowed."
They took me to the interview and started the wheel
I said no “I’ll do it my way, so I get the feel.”
“You are doing it wrong, that’s going the wrong way”
“Hey you, I’m a lefty and this is OUR day."
I won, I succeeded, and I was the fastest in the shop.
My wage was enormous; I was not for the chop.
Ever since that day there are left-handers there
They now provide lefty’s proper table’s wheels and chairs
This is a true story, no left-handers were alowed because it was paid peacework and evrey things was set up for right handers. There was also a thought that left handers could not do it anyway. I not only proved it in the decorating deparment but in other departments as well and now they set things up for both left and right.
I am a cruiser
on a big trawler.
A lover
of the water.
Look at it's blue color.
What's underneath is a puzzler.
Being a traveler
who looks for spectacular
pictures. I always discover
that God is the manufacturer
and complier
of beauty for this true believer.
No matter
what harbour
we pull in to.
Here
the mountains
have a fascinating
allure
as they are behind the harbour
this adds a certain
wonder
and magnificent charm to the terrain.
This place isn't plain.
I was so excited there's
a promenade. We will be walking,
talking,
and sitting
on the bench enjoying
the sights and sounds
of this new harbour.
They say in the brochure
there's coffee bars,
fish shops, and restaurants
to entertain
which makes this harbour
really popular.
Here I would of remained
if we had been able to retain
our health. As it is this harbour
will be ingrained
in my brain
from a water color
that I found
in a beautiful frame.

As we navigate our treasured lives, let us take time to live, learn, laugh, and love.
The Bonnevilles are gone and all the Pontiacs as well. The Cutless Supreme is also gone and the entire fleet of Oldsmobiles. Desirable cars of my childhood, succumbed to a downed economy. But I was privileged to drive them both before their untimely demise; the white Bonneville while yet a child; the grey Cutless I bought for my son.
A span of 50 plus years has come and gone, but left me with car memories. From my childhood I recall the beautiful drive I experienced with the Bonneville. It was owned by an older cousin who dared to allow a little kid to drive his car.
As we navigate our treasured lives, let us take time to live, learn, laugh, and love.
Looking back, it occurred to me that he must have loved me more than his Bonneville. I tell you, Bonnevilles are gone, but my cousin left a never to be forgotten childhood memory. I loved the looks of the Cutless, and I felt the bond with the one I bought for my son.
The manufacturer must have concluded that their beauties could not compete. I was fond of both cars, but I understood the way of the economy and the fuel crises. Nevertheless, they deserved better, and they should have found a way to keep the Cutless. So ladies and gentlemen, let us start the engines of our lives and enjoy the ride while we can. For indeed, all of us have a destiny, but we know not whether we are endowed with longevity.
So, as we navigate our treasured lives, let us take time to live, learn, laugh, and love.

At night I slather on my face
An anti-wrinkle cream
So it can make me youthful
While I toss and turn and dream.
Of course it doesn't work and yet,
This ritual remains,
With just the manufacturer
To really make some gains.
Surprisingly, I saw an ad
(Full-page, The New York Times)
That made me laugh, for irony
Inspires many rhymes.
It claimed most women do believe
They're judged based on their age;
Unfairly, too, the font declared
Upon the paper's page.
The ad was paid for by Olay,
My anti-wrinkle maker,
Reminding us that age should not
Define a gal or break her.
A bit ironic, don't you think?
To follow their advice,
I should not use their anti-aging
Wrinkle merchandise!
The oranges came upon the
Reds followed too quickly by golden
Yellow leaves.
Hitting his own autumn the commuter took
One moment to suppose that
Tree had something to do with his own time here but
The metaphysical was beyond grasp.
He understood the sell and the buy
The unstoppable flow of raw goods
To manufacturer to emporium to consumer to junk yard.
He blew his horn anxiously at the gawker in front
And sped down the boulevard toward
Another day—telephone tied to his ear
Retailing and counting exchanges in minute specialty.
Outside, one child
Lays looking through the trees for the day to break
Catching for the first time the mix of redorangeyellow.
The horn breaks his moment.
He too remembers the school bell
And skips off for another repetition
Of yesterday.
I hold on stretching the moment
Out past millenniums opposing the rush
Into eternity proffered by the Wallstreets of America,
Walmarting each of us onto a higher plane of shopper madness.
Shoppers of America, lechers of our time,
Cannot even laugh at me for my leftover
Quixotic operation on the Schuylkill River.
For their stare is lodged at King of Prussia Mall
With its answer to the repetition of changing trees-
Newfangled toys for every day let alone Hanukkah and Christmas.
If they had seen me they could have pointed
To their children an example of
A wasted life without
A patch doll or plastic jack-o-lantern
In the window above the garage door leading into my home.
I kickedaleaf and tried frantically to slow down the trifling time
I had before the parts of my body wanted no more to carry the weight
of my mind digressing or my conceit.
