Little Miss Ruby cannot keep still
Little Miss Ruby is running up the hill
Little Miss Ruby is going around the circle
Little Miss Ruby likes the color purple
Little Miss Ruby is playing smart
Little Miss Ruby is drawing a flow chart
Little Miss Ruby has a bold spirit
Little Miss Ruby is a bigot
Little Miss Ruby keeps changing the tune
Little Miss Ruby love the tycoon
Little Miss Ruby has a big king bed
Little Miss Ruby love the color red
Little Miss Ruby is banging the door
Little Miss Ruby is peeping through the key hole
Little Miss Ruby is looking for a loophole
Little Miss Ruby is out of control
I walked quietly through the back door
Seeking solace for my ripped up soul
I tried to get a sip of whisky
before I join the invigorating dance floor
But something magnetic ushered me away
And took me to the ground floor
unscrupulous men puffing big cigars
gather around a table in the streetcar
Half naked women serving vodka
Big men with big stuff playing poker
Big pocket big hand
Big money big land
Empty chairs, empty bed
Empty house, empty head
The thoroughbred is leaving the shed
And here I am penetrating the letterhead
They kept moving it from pillar to post
until it end up on the ivory coast
I like the shape of that big horn
It was on the wall before I was born
Something spectacular is carved inside
little miss Ruby is full of pride
Little Miss Ruby is coming clean
Little Miss Ruby has spilled the beans
Endowed by God with wondrous blessings*’ bounty
nature exposes His great Creation sovereignty:
awesome landscapes marked by His architectural acuity
mountain ranges grandeur and hills in their majesty
welcoming me for invigorating trek toward peaks’ serenity.
Waterfalls’ cascading crystals… oh, what a sight
glowing while flowing along rivulets gushing might
toward sea of billowing waves’ height…
beholding the ocean brings me spiritual delight
while gripped with the Saviour’s security-tight.
Refreshing breeze wafts warm assurance
midst Acasia leaves swaying with exuberance
I’m enclosed with calmness midst toil-propped endurance
neath canopy of bougainvilleas in their glorious appearance
uplifting my faith toward gratitude’s joyous clearance.
*Genesis 49:25 …God … the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under…

The ground rumbles, ominously, I'm on the steep side of a Mississippi River Bluff, mid-August, gathering bursting crimson red trophies of Staghorn Sumac for my favorite sumac-ade, a spright, invigorating tonic I enjoy this time of year. The smell in the air, forest-sage beginning to dry and ripen, the bitter tang of scattered paper-birch bark chimneys...must keep alert for the origins of the earthly rumble.
The unsettled earth, sweet and bitter smells...mix with my age and I sit down as if in a trance and drift asleep...harkening back to my training as a young man in a Manhattan Bagel Deli, assembling prep-stations for the customer onslaught about to descend. Proofed bagel dough, seeded and rotating in the elevator slate-shelved oven after a frothy malt-bath in the bubbling giant kettle, delectable aromas of fairly vibrating paper-sliced spiced meats and piquant aged cheeses, briny sheets of smoked lox, pots of sweetly acidic capers and luminous heirloom tomatoes...
But I'm much older now, my mind remembers, but my body can't function like it once did, I can't perform the once-easy configurations effortlessly like before.
The rumbling, just my imagination...
I awaken, gather my bunch of fluorescent sumac, which I am still able to concoct, mindful of God's Grace in my spiritual and physical evolution...He
Has Blessed me with.

Stimulating her Emperor's savage
Aquisece defers demand of regal constraint
Furtive festivities provide passage
Into fecund gracing gait Autocracy ordained
Retreat from mastering insatiable masses
His thought voiding thaumaturge
Covers strident intellectual with molasses
Cater of paramour calms nerves
Unwound by compassionate exorbitance
Momentarily vulnerable assailant
Commits their heirs eventual inheritance
Renewed seasons abide nascent
Provisional Yazmin is his cleansing ocean
Advances invigorating strategy
Frequent fruitful visits denote her chosen
Monarchical surrender, sanctity
5th December
- Fertility -
(wily winding vines climbing collate grapes)
invigorating morning air
two-mile walk, local news, coffee, toast
enroute to work at daycare, checked on Dad
another rewarding day
then night, at home alone
She's forty-eight; her kids are grown.
Her husband left three years ago.
She'd asked, "What's wrong? Is this my fault?"
He'd kissed her cheek and told her "NO!"
As she lay resting--
Was it a dream? a vision?
smiling face, so real
Doorbell rang. Who could that be?
the smiling old flame she'd dreamed!

Under the sparkling waterfall, cascades
of rushing amber waves. A breathless
spirit of invigorating grace - she fades.
Just as quick, she reappears, with cockle shells
dancing upon her bikini’d breast. The mermaid
sways my sigh, with a melody that no mortal can slay.
With splendid scales of jade and gold, she riles the deep.
The briny sea swallows her whole —
but then she sweet talks the whirlpool.
Such beauty gargles and spouts like a whale
as rainbow fish frantically scurry
and sail to their slippery domain.
The half-clad fish trills once more, than heartily laughs
as she tells me the secrets of her lovers.
This lass with two sea legs leans to her tell.
“I wait ‘til the bloke knocks himself out
or nearly drowns or until
he drinks himself over the side of his charter.”
We cackle together, Galia and I, as tears cascade
down the buoyant cheeks of sea pals.

You’re a little bit like sunshine
Flooding the windowsill
After an invigorating rain shower
Whispers prayers to heaven
Praising the One who gave us all
The buttery sun and throbbing
Patter of rain melting all the heat
Sighing with compassion
That breathes kindness throughout
Heaven’s melody for creation
You’re a little like the cool night
Full of stars flickering across the dark
Dissolving laughter through sighs
Of poetic images told on caresses
From the one who knows best
The reason for a gentle touch
A gaze that reveals the longing
Inside the eyes who twinkle delight
And remind me why I am someone
Who feels most alive in silence
You’re a little like the memories
That hold my heart and soul
In hands of grateful reminiscences
Throbbing with a heartbeat of knowing
That it is only God’s kindness
Who lifts the burden of pain and sorrow
From the soul who has experienced
Love and loss, aliveness and then death
The memories are both burdens
And a whispery embrace from the past
You’re a little like music flowing
From a soft instrument
A graceful guitar or a melancholy
Piano who knows the art
Of giving someone the chance to sing
Of joy, heartbreak and pain
A chance to reflect on the melody
Of hope and faith, love that lives
In the heart who knows to always give
You’re a little like me
You’re wild and you’re free
But you cling to the belief
That love never leaves!
Love is eternally bleeding
Through the veins of the heart
Who clings to prayers for love
That is forever and always
A breath in the lungs
A hope in the heart
A joy that is sought
And a love that I want!
You’re a little like us all
You have a good heart!
Oh now sad frog located on the sandy beach
Emotions raging around the body as an Icelandic volcano
burning holds in a vice grips deeply
Stranded in the cemetery of broken hearts
It is as if parts of the heart where torn out
shreaded from the body without an anesthesia
Deep arrow strikes in Golden Sunshine beams
Maybe he worry for no reason
Warm thoughts sail faraway yonder
An endless sandy beach, white as snow
washed with the blue ocean in brilliant yellow sunlight
Singing dreams kissing lips hold an oasis close
She drinks his kiss as if one could never get enough
In the hot summer sun burning heart yearns
It does not matter what it is
or where it leads them
as long as it creates an inner glow
Singing sizzles relighting loves croaking flames
Infatuation may be coming - but volatile
ignites when paper lips hold tears prisoner
Positively resonated does not appear out of the blue
Falling salt seasoned spice
Trail seeking light
This is a powerful and invigorating moment
Jumping angry to paradise
Shedding the green shirt of a Queen
She was cold, but the sun stroked her
soft and warm over the cheeks

The poem sits coyly at the counter of the Soda Shoppe,
waiting to be discovered, slowly sipping an egg cream.
Making it last all day, the creamy lukewarm liquid
drips down its poetically pointed chin,
a sticky puddle forming at its iambic feet.
The Soda Shoppe’s bell tinkles;
a thirsty reader breathlessly arrives.
Taking a stool next to the poem, she reaches over and lifts the creation to her lips.
Tasting its invigorating words, she sucks down its essence of life, grins and leaves.
Reveling in being discovered,
the poem sits coyly at the counter of the Soda Shoppe.
The Soda Shoppe’s bell tinkles.
In the throes of a moon-in-June love quarrel, a young couple enters.
Sitting on the other side of the poem, they decry the sticky mess on the floor.
Dripping with the dregs of saccharine philosophy, the poem chuckles,
“It’s so sad when uncultured people don’t realize what delights are just within reach.”
Sunshine undulates across verdant plain
casting dark shadows ushering twilight zone
ringing athwart tree trunks
invigorating, joyously kickstarting,
and plenti revitalizing
bountiful nature buzzfeeding
vim, vinegar and *****
caressing, massaging, and palpating with
soundlessness inducing bub bully giddy,
and sudsy spongy schmaltzy
harmonic livingsocial kerplunk
also intoxicating this perk o' late
ting teetotaler, no longer ginger
who doth oft times ale
with melancholic funk,
whereat imbibing nectar
of the Gods with fulfillment
temporarily quicken ends euphoric,
albeit 'pon firm meant soberly drunk.
Ah...nothing more uplifting
than (Anita Bryant raisin eyebrows)
plugging sunkist orange treat,
this sensate being privy,
sans front row seat
agog at orchestral, festival, viz
choral paean courtesy sweet
flora and fauna feat
bequeathed to Mother Earth,
a requiem pulsating with heartbeat
pitch perfect exultation
glorifying spring days soon obsolete
ethereal, ideal, and
sensational tonic to gin
prestidigitation, qua
natural psychological helpmeet
pleasant distraction with intent to read
temporarily placating, needling craving
for Pete sakes daily
fix this news junkie,
trembling when complete
awareness he doth accrete,
where quite glum, how
civilization didst mistreat
planet, hence feeling downbeat,
especially haunting ghosts of
Native Americans drumbeat
signal harbinger debacle
i.e. environmental doomsday
soon fated extinction
sealed and complete
inexorably inching closer to reality
necessitating superman to defeat
global warming rendering vast swaths
uninhabitable as Gaia global
