The best of intentions,
Are most often lost.
They give way 'neath the weight,
Of the trial and the cross.

Dissolving like mist,
In the light of reality,
To reveal the true width,
And the depth of my frailty.

Although I mean well,
I most often fail,
And then I'm ashamed,
For not having prevailed,

O'er temptations and battles,
That I should have won,
If had not my intentions,
And valor all gone.

It took me some time,
But I finally learned,
That in spite of my faults,
His Grace was yet earned.

Through His efforts not mine,
The King has decreed,
That I am to follow,
He'll take the lead.

Every Creature Has a Hidden Agenda

Every creature has a hidden agenda
Every dream tells different story
With secrets lashing from opposite directions;
So think of the storm on Christmas day,
Rain taking vacation during planting season,
Wind and dust on wedding day,
Or friends forever changing their minds;
For we live in the midst of distinctiveness
With crossroads everywhere
Conflicts surrounding our unique journeys'
Resurrecting doubts in every corner,
So in spite of happiness in our valleys
Every creature has hidden agenda
In spite of joy growing among us,
Every creature has hidden agenda,
And despite sweetness hanging upon our lives,
We still hold on to our forbidden treasures
Secrets hanging in our hearts
Sheltering our separate formations
That keeps us tight to our hidden agendas
For our bond is not immortal
It is like bunch of tree leaves
Truth and honesty are not guaranteed,
For every creature has hidden agenda
Thoughts manipulation is our daily bread,
For we all have hidden agendas

What Christmas Means To Me
By Ruby L. Perry/ [email protected]
Christmas is a festival of Expressing the Gratitude of what God has brought to us through Christ Jesus; For the Love, we have for one another. We thank God for the trees that bloom and the vine that grows. We thank God for the darkness at night and the light that shines through the day. We thank God for the snow, the rain, and the light the Sun brings. We thank God for the Carrols that we sing, that makes us feel the brightness of spring. We thank God for the Spirit of the Living God in whom we Praise because He is Worthy to be Praise. We thank God because He is real to my soul even when I am old. We thank Him because I love Him in my own special way. He Loves me first and I feel Blessed in spite of my difference. We thank God because He is All in All and guides us, beside us, in us from the beginning to the end; Ordering our steps in His special way. We give All the Praises, All the Honor, All Glory, All Power to Him in Jesus name I Pray, Amen.

Love whispers gently to my heart
Heralding the ache when we’re apart
Lust beckons with senses of affection
Reflecting on the desire in our connection

Love compels me to free all my emotions
Creating feelings that are full of devotions
Lust delights in touching my naked skin
Stroking my waist with a desire to begin

Love urges me to feel free in my compassion
Liberating me to the need to ignore fashion
Lust stimulates my spirit’s core with a thrill
Teaching me to be thankful for longing’s skill

Love colors my world with vivid hues of scarlet
Exposing the ways I could have been a harlot
Lust opens the door to feelings of pure yearning
Touching my depths with a fire that keeps burning

Love encompasses me with feelings of concern
Coaching me to believe in the sensitivity I will learn
Lust embraces me with a pure and gentle craving
For the secret tenderness which is so lifesaving

Love amazes me with it’s beautiful faith in feelings
Summoning me to recall all the joy in my dealings
Lust fills my spirit with so many hot-blooded emotions
Flowing through my core the way of misty blue oceans

Love lingers within my sensations creating a promise
That all prayers will be in spite of the doubting Thomas
Lust breathes in my pores, opening the door to fascination
Filling my mind and thoughts with an enthusiastic elation

Premium Member Promises Uplifted

beyond earnest vows
and doting promises
our love will last
forever and a day
yet all avid promises
are one day shattered
in spite of best intentions

sometimes I hear its thunder
it’s in the quiver of his voice
the shiver of his nightmares
the shudder in his fearful eyes
the feeling of helplessness
over his body convulsing

inevitable visits to the oncologist
vital treatments and aftershock
unsparing reminders we are not immortal

it’s the pain of growing wings
the price to pay for crossing over
till then…
the promises feel real
every day a gift and blessing
a promise is a promise
in this realm or the next

With a loving heart,
filled with peace and harmony
In the afterbirth new life emerges
An eternal optimist in Spite of living

Starlight sparkles in this globe softly glistens
Everything seems to be perfectly normal
Gentle spirit refines where the thought is good
Dream you shine a warm sunbeam gift

We live for truth and justice sake
The numbered days and duration of happy feelings
A glimpses of human life takes shape
Golden delicious fruit of Eden

Happiness can not be conquered,
it must be openly received
A sun melting inside warm thoughts
Staring across the horizon clouds pearl white

My desires, my needs, my happiness
As fallen people with meaningless deeds
Dreamy cotton skies echo into one song
The ability to grasp facts of nature around us

Faraway mountains sailing yearns
Over the hills a warm thought in breeze blows
Starlight twinkles in the eyes of a dream
Coasting along on a deep blue sea wave kiss

Premium Member QUEST

When I was younger my quest was to be,
The best person that I could possibly be.
Now that I am older, I have a better plan.
Just to be exactly the way that I already am.

It’s not that I am perfect now, quite far from it,
But change is now like a half century comet.
What goes around comes around. I’ve been around a while,
And thinking of myself, in spite of myself, really makes me smile.

There isn’t much left of my glorious quest to improve,
Because most of what’s left is already on the move.
The eyes found hollows to sink themselves into.
Years passed, I have developed a second chin too.
.
Everything seems to be vacating south,
Most of my skin, boobs even my mouth.
My hair has developed a flurry of silver sprinkles.
And my face once plump and smooth, now has wrinkles.

The mind is still clear, though I detect it may fade.
I am happy the way it is and will be happy if it stayed.
Although I have noticed, I have a failing of late.
I tend to mix letters, not getting all wodrs straight.

Its quite enough to give up on any quest.
The old me isn’t ready to pass any test.
But still, I am a contented old goat.
Happy to say I am now a reasonable pote.

Premium Member Haitian New Year's Poetrysoup Joumou

Bon appétit to all my fellow Haitians and friends,
Who will be drinking, sipping, savoring poertysoup joumou,
Which is made of squash, neck bones, macaroni, oxtails,
Carrots, yams, celery, parsley, and countless vegetables.

This is a powerful, yet historical soup,
With a strong message. This tradition
Started after the Battle of Vertières,
When the Haitian Army defeated the French.

Haiti fought and won its Independence,
On January 1st.1804 in Gonaives, Haiti,
And became the first Black Republic
In the world. Believe me, this is amazing.

Poetrysouo joumou symbolizes Respect, Freedom,
Independence, Peace, Equality and Liberty. It stands
Against slavery, bigotry, racism, unfairness, injustice,
White supremacy, nepotism, inequality and prejudice.

Our Haitian ancestors could not consume such a delicacy
Before, where only the Colonists, the Affranchis
Or the Freedmen could enjoy. The defeat of Gen. Rochambeau
By General J.J.Dessalines had changed the entire scenario.

Please join all Haitians throughout the world by drinking,
Eating and savoring 'soup joumou', the Haitian squash soup,
On the first day of every year. Celebrate in memories of strong men,
And women who fought for Liberty, Equality and Fraternity.

Please read the history of the mysterious island of Haiti,
To enhance your knowledge of the world's history.
The Haitian People, in spite of constant internal fights,
Are strong, resilient, friendly, funny and intelligent.

Premium Member Chaotic War

Flinging silence to the shore, the sea rises
Painting the sand with shells galore,
Faded on the skies above, the warmth of light
Softly calling, revealing the wonders of a night
When gentle breaths of hope conspired
To candy coat the surface of my heart’s smile
To wash away the purpose of my soul’s poetry
To collect the glorious dreams, the feelings and beliefs
Into a puddle of miracles, stirring the chaos
In my breast, the chaos that told me – even though I’ve been blessed
My heart, my soul, my darkest secrets are unimpressed
By the past which I protect, the memories who reflect
All the times I’ve failed to accept, all the days when I’ve felt such regret
All the promises that have been lost by neglect
All the stories that I haven’t carved out – all the reasons,
The Author of the stars invites me to forget the past, the chaos
That I could not control… chaos that silenced my hope
Chaos that felt like my war, the war between good and bad
Happy and sad, strong and weak, night and day
The war between my heart and my mind, love and hate,
shame and grace, the beginning and the end…
chaos and order, lost and found, faith and atheism
In the war defending this chaos of mine, comes a word
of stability, serenity, soothing me so that I can see…
in spite of the chaos, the upheaval, there is the assurance
of One who never leaves, One who comes with grace
One who lives to say – love is the answer to your mess
Love is the reason I came to pay – the debt of your sin,
Offering you a second chance to become
The person God meant for you to be, because of me,
The One God sent to set you free!
End the war with chaos and agree… He is the answer. Just believe.

Premium Member Bitter

Inventory yourself.
Who are you? How do you measure up?
How close are you to what we think you should be?
Then, like sun-ripened raspberries, pluck the abnormalities.
Put them in a jar labeled, INSECURITIES.
You can’t discard them, of course.
Your quirks are part of what make you unique.
They make you you—preserve them.
But we don’t want to see, so bottle it up and put it in a cupboard…
or better yet, a cellar.

Keep the jar in case someday the world wants raspberries;
or if not the world, someone.
Perhaps in vulnerability, that someone will open their cupboard
and you’ll find a loaf of dry bread hidden there.
In a box labeled INSECURITIES.
Thus, it stays concealed.
In vulnerability, you’ll reach deep into your cellar.
You’ll accept the bread, and they’ll accept the raspberries.
That’s the hope, isn’t it?
That your insecurities will compliment?
That you two can be open with one another
and find happiness in spite of us?

But that’s not how it works.
As you work to appear as you ought,
or as we think you ought,
or rather, as you think, we think, you ought,
you’ll find your raspberries are not preserves.
Call it a short self-life.
In the darkness…in the jars
your vulnerable parts suffocate.
They spoil. They rot. They die.
But “they” are what make you you, remember?
So you change into something not you.
You hide your unique attributes, to be normal.
To be like us.
But you fail to realize
that we are like your spoiled raspberries...
bitter.
