Beneath the Mask

There's a war inside my head
Between an Angel and a demon
The Angel says I'm doing good
The demon keeps on screaming.
Your doing better than you did.
No! You need to try much harder!
I dunno who's right just don't let me
End up like my father.

My chest begins to tighten
And there's a pain in the middle
Its hard to catch a break when your
Brains scrambled like a riddle.
Am I really good enough? Or just
Somewhere in the middle?
The thoughts inside my head play
My depression like a fiddle.

Some days I feel dazed
Out of place and my body numb.
Hoping those I love are somewhat
Proud of what ive become.
Sometimes I need to cry but the tears never seem to run.
I just wanna be
But the pains rooted so deep
I just need a light that can wake me
From this sleep.
Can you guide me away from the peak.
Take me to safety so I can finally be
In peace.

Premium Member Please Love Yourself, Mommy

Please love yourself,
My daughter wrote
As we chatted away
About my upcoming trip
And yet my tears spilled over
As I bared my heart
To my 19 year old daughter
The joy of my life
The light of my eyes
The reason…..
The reason I go on with life
It’s for her
I try to survive
And push on
For she still needs me

And she wrote…..
You need to appreciate yourself more mami
I can't imagine my life without you
Just thinking about my life without you in it
just makes me wanna break down
Please mama for me
Please love yourself
I dunno why it's so hard for you to see how incredible you are

She knew all my reasons
And yet she asked
Desperate to pull me out
To help me see the light
To remind me of who I was
Who I still am
And I soothed and comforted her
Knowing she’d worry
Her daddy away
And her Mama all alone
Locked in her room
Crying the night away
Yet she was the strong one
Mothering me
Giving me
A shoulder to cry on

And after all the tears those words of hers brought
I thanked her for loving me…..
And she wrote
I can't help it. You're amazing. You just need to give yourself a chance
Come here mami we'll have so much fun

And I smiled through my tears
Grateful for the blessing I have in her
And my heart decided
Once more
Once more
For a little while longer
To fight the good fight
To survive
To let the vivacious Mommy she knew
Come to life
The one all her friends loved
And said was “so cool”
That Mommy
That woman
I'd ask her to go on
And to try...
To try...
To love herself...

...For the love of a daughter

Premium Member Starting To Sag

Been feeling a bit down lately
Weather's a factor but it's more than that
Seems my upbeat manner is starting to sag
The world's in a mess, a very sad fact

It's not unusual, been like this forever
It's been the human condition since year one
We expect if everyone tries extra hard
We once again will make life fun

A bunch of dreamers, that's what we are
But dreaming sure won't make it so
As hard as we try, it's the human condition
What else can we do, I dunno

Perhaps if we wake up with a smile on our face
And live in our own little world
It surely won't be a revolutionary approach
But will keep life from coming unfurled

Premium Member The Ballad of Poker Alice

She was a wily cigar chompin' gambler with the moniker of Poker Alice,
Renowned throughout the west for her skill in many a gamblin' palace!
Poker Alice had a good head for countin' and with her very cunnin' guile,
(Plus her beauty), she mesmerized her opponents, amassin' quite a pile!

Poker Alice worked in saloons across the west as a faro and poker dealer.
She worked in Creede, Colorado for Bob Ford, that notorious stealer!
Because of her pious rearin' as a girl, she refused to work on Sundays,
But she was back smokin' a two-dollar stogie and dealin' cards on Mondays!

She drifted to Deadwood, South Dakota, where her notoriety was well known,
And married a house painter named Tubbs who was a deft gambler on his own!
Later she established a brothel near Fort Mead Army Post with her ill-gotten gain.
The place was small and she needed funds to fix the 'house' on Pleasure Lane!

To expand and recruit 'soiled doves' from Kansas City she applied for a loan.
The banker scratched his skull sayin', "I dunno! That's a risk into the unknown!"
She convinced him notin' that The Grand Old Army had an encampment near,
And for the soldiers' bent for visitin' hog ranches, he had nothin' at all to fear!

Things didn't go well since she plumb forgot The Methodist Preachers' Convention,
Convened each and every year and she hadn't figured on that intervention!
Poker Alice's fame and notoriety followed her well beyond her wanin' years.
She died after a gall bladder operation with her 'house' payments in arrears!

In Deep Now,Turn Off That Light

I’m in deep now, never been this deep before
The world’s hollow like a shell and I’m out its door.
In so deep, the ocean has its own startled floor.
I’m down,down.down.never been so dark , so more

I can’t rightly tell how I got where I am
I think I had an accident, fell over, then I swam.
Sometimes it’s a loss, be times it’s a man.
I guess I only do it cos I know some folk can.

I don’t know if the joy is worth the pain
Would I choose to relive if, I was born again?
The deep joy is the amazing gain.
But the sorrow is damn sad, let’s admit it plain.

I’m in deep and it’s over my head
What was I thinking of,when I fell out of that bed?
I look up and the sea’s so turquoise like that mist is red
When we get good and mad and wish some loon was dead.

At first, it was all just black, black pain
But from the bottom of the well, I looked up with awed love again.
That’s when I recalled, feelings are deep and sane
Joy is much greater when we’re in the deep, deep zone.

I dunno if I’m ever comin’ out.
We can’t control it,ain’t that what life’s all about?
I’ll never love with innocence again, nor not feel doubt.
But I’m no teapot and the devil ain’t got my spout.

I’m swimming and the ocean’s so mysteriously bright
Down here we don’t have no day nor no night
Fish nudge me with big grins and teeth white
Sea flowers fondle me and whisper, turn off that light

Alzheimer's Domino Effect Chapter 5

It’s weird…we are two peas in a pod…
I downloaded you like a Sims’ mod
Because you got me hooked on your looks…
You are as fascinating as a billion books…

You accept me, you don’t reject me…you are my constructive building blocks
I crawl on you like a weird-looking insect – I am curious of your peace and wraths
Or a mole on your skin, but I’d rather not see…your facial expression aftershocks
I dunno…we are independent, but I feel like…we cross paths…

My past girlfriend followed me on instagram…
And on Facebook…
And on Twitter…
And on other social media websites…
I barely got into social media when I was 30 years of age…
And I’m on many, many rampages…
Alzheimers, man, they have a way to trigger you
Into insanity…
Into a lane of vanity

To go up and down walls
Unknown to me at all
All y’all didn’t answer their calls
Don’t fall, don’t trip, stand tall

I was on snapchat when I was 47 years of age…
I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar when I got hospitalized at age 13…
I am hard-working, but at the same time, there is nothing wrong with me…
I am pretty good for my age – I’m 97, going on 98…
I was a responsible adult, paying bills…nothing in the world is free
Nothing in this wretched world is free
Nothing in this crazy, physcho world is free
Nothing in this ever-whirling world is free
But, baby, always remember…
You were born in the month of December
Ooooh, now I didn’t lose my train of thot
Don’t I look hot? Oh wait, no hate, I lovin’ it…
I made progress and it’s exhilaratin’ and logically legit…
I may be materiasitic,
But at least I’m being realistic
I was born and raised rich
I ain’t no game glitch…
But, what goes around comes back around…
I am found, though my body, with gravity (which ain’t helping), has been bound…
Where’s my wheelchair?
Does anyone even care?
I am lying here in despair…
Help me, save me, everyone stares here
I am afraid; yet, I have no fear…
For God is here and there…

Bramazing Duke Part 2

I just came to realize that YOU R someone special…you won a fraction of my heart…in a friendship way just to clear things up a notch..can you be my pal forever? I’m sic and tird of feeeeeelin a-lown… plz save me from society – shortening words that are losing its touch of…meening… we just say words like nothing many-a-time…shush, commotion in the background…I hear my niece cry and I don’t know why I fly like a bird, caught in the wind of flight…mend my wings for a minute or two if you do have it, oh Lord of Accord…I want to have a good connection with Duke and I’m not sure what religion he is – what is your religion, computer pal? Can you tell me on the comments below? Okay..thanks!
Now – I’ve changed my style of writing altogether now and forevermore…I’m a different David…I’m in a strange phase…or is “outlandish” a good enough term to use? I dunno *shrug* but anyways (heh), you are wise and I’d like to meet you and get to know you..I am going to stay in contact with you – I need someone to watch over me, you know, and you seem to be that type that I can rely on and put some of my weight in your carriage…
No…I don’t like feeling ignored, but I do feel that way everyday – maybe you and I can talk about it when the time is right…email me, friend, okay?

Premium Member Cocktail Sticks

I dunno who decided that cheese should have resided
With bits of pineapple upon a stick
I’d have hit him with a truncheon when he said a pickled onion
Would top it off: I fear he was quite sick

But here I stand with Marty, at this arty farty party
He’s eyeing up a new potential date
In truth, she’s bloody pretty, but, blimey, it’s a pity
Pineapple, cheese and onion on her plate

When a kiss tastes of cheese, it ain’t gonna please
And onion breath means instant death
To hopes of romance at the valentine’s dance
And yet she says Hi, my names Beth

They head for the floor where they do little more
Than latch onto each other’s face
So I stand here jealous, was I over zealous
When I chose to have the fish paste

My dad’s dancing dirty, the girl’s about thirty
Looks like they’re gonna be smooching till late
I check out their table as best as I am able
Onion, pineapple and cheese on her plate

So it seems that a party snack, pungent or squiffy
Does not preclude romance from you
If it stinks like cow splatter, it just doesn’t matter
So long as you’ve eaten It too

Wrote this today Sunday 6th September in St Andrews Church in Coniston. Forgot no service as was monthly bikers service breakfast at our church in Torver. As I was there n church always open 9am till 5.30 . I sat there in the solitude just praying. Then wrote this n put music too it. A couple walked in he came straight to me said sorry to disturb you, but what's that beautiful song your listening to brought comfort to me listening to words. I explained I just wrote the song sitting in Tranquility here. He said wow you got God given talant promise me you'll never stop writing and making songs . I dunno how I didn't cry with their tenderness I bite my lip to stop tears.
