Love, ha love!
You know this love,
Ha this love is for those
who work at the devil’s workshop
Who have a heart to spare
A heart to hurt
A heart to pine
and who are ready to die for love.
As for me,
with my nose to the grindstone,
No, thank you!
Love is not for me
I will not love
I am not the loving kind
I don’t like pining
I don’t like hurting
I don’t like to feel lonely
I don’t like my heart to be broken
and forsaken…
No way José,
if I see love coming
I’ll pass it by…
Hasta la vista, Love,
Go smitten someone else!

Goodbye
Such a lonely, sad word
Sometime there is no recovery
No recourse
Just the inevitable
We say it so casually
Then turn away
Expecting the other to be
But eventually, they are simply gone
Final as the death of beginnings
Aspirations killed before realization
Unfriendly glares to smiling hellos
Damned before they start
I find little good in its sentiment
It is the termination of
What was; of what is;
What could be..if only
For there are better ways to part
Expressing good wishes--Love
Expectations of joys to come
Lingering with a heart smile
Hasta la vista--Until I see you
Auf wiedersehen-Until we meet
Arrivederci-See you soon
Farvel-Farewell
There are so many other options
So many ways to leave.
Finality arrives on its own.
Such a lonely, sad word--
Goodbye
(So many other languages have beautiful sentiments behind their parting phrases, why do we use one that is so final?)
Sweet, spring wrap your arms around me,
Place me in an emerald forest, green;
Rain, gently fall and make my world clean-
I run through a wildflower meadow carefree,
Narrow trails beckon me to follow their labyrinthine;
Gamboling, frolicking baby ducks play on a pond aquamarine.
Ice cold storms are gone away,
Such delight- the song of a blue jay.
Cajoling, coaxing mother duck tries to keep order,
Oh, in this nirvana there is no clock . . .
Melodious forest tunes like a symphony by Bach-
Inside this forest nature blooms in manic disorder
Nearby, on a branch the call of a hawk . . .
Getting tired- I rest on a sunny rock.
Shasta daisies sway and dance-
Oh, I am a travelling pleasure-seeker,
Oh, flocks of flying birds call to me from a loudspeaker;
Nothing is more beautiful than a spring happenstance . . .

First Place
Driving through the neighborhood in a shiny armored truck,
The exterminator arrives, looking to make a few hundred bucks.
He goes from door to door and asks to come inside:
And he already knows there's nowhere the pests can hide.
The exterminator swatted a mosquito and says, "You've got to G-O!"
He stepped on a cucaracha with his boots and said, "Gotcha!"
Then he sprayed some termites and told them, "Good night."
He got rid of a wasp and some annoying bees.
"Sorry, y'all," he said. "You're not stinging me."
And after he roasted a housefly, he yelled, "Bye-bye!"
The people were astounded as these insects were grounded.
Although the weather was hot and muggy,
The exterminator yelled, "Hasta la vista, buggy!"
This handsome brother was in complete control.
You can call him butter because he's on a roll!
Then the exterminator caught some mice and rats.
He laughed at them and said, "You ain't getting up from that!"
But what about the spiders, you ask?
The exterminator hired them to make special masks.
"Praiseworthy work," the Mayor exclaimed.
"The neighborhood is safe and the vermin were tamed."
Our hero smiled with glee as he was handed his fee.
"Thank you all," he said. "And now I must flea. (Get it?)
I'll be back again soon. Until then, see you later."
And this concludes the story of the groovy exterminator.
Me causa gastritis y nausea
Debilita mi s fuerzas y afloja mi poder.
Y me ayude enderezar mis propias mesas
The call of assembly long overdue
named the forgotten from ages thru
From countless wars of eras ascended
pain still fresh, wounds never mended
The screams before the darkness took
Their lives blackened without another look
Scattered bones in foreign lands
dug up diligently by God's own hands
Heaven's roster penned the missing and lost
Those who fought valiant with a cost
Now fierce warriors all stood by
as summoned spirits filled the sky
Hobnailed sandals, barefooted, steel toe boot
marched in unison without dispute
Foes in combat never friends
united at the battle end.
Angels kissed the blood-stained brow
awarded each their sacrifice vow
Hasta pura the Romans’ spear held high
A golden Katana bestowed the fearless Samurai
The “Sword of the Sea” the Chinese swayed
while a Viking warrior sailed away
An Apache fighter reclaimed his land
the ancient Maori received his brand
The Medal of Honor secured its place
on innocent faces who left no trace
Fought to the end with unheard cries
Fought to the death by infinite lies
Rest well Soldier, you nameless soul
your seeds finally planted in fields of gold
Fallen heroes with deeds overlooked
Final reward in life’s eternal book.
I travelled North
Where I began my nest.
I travelled South
On a ministry quest.
Not a great success,
But I did my best.
Then I travelled East
For a brief visit,
but could not abide New York City.
So I travelled West,
An abode of trials and tests.
I fell in love with The City by the Bay.
Some leave their hearts in San Francisco,
But I found my heart there with a homeless
man at our dinner table in '84 on Christmas Day.
I fell in love with The Delta Breeze in Sacramento.
It's so much better than the Mid-West freeze.
Now, I am preparing to leave this pleasant place,
this city of trees. And saying goodbye is one of the
things I most decry. So, I think not that I will say,
goodbye, for goodbyes only make me cry. I love
hellos and think that they are good for the soul.
Helos draw us together with loving smiles.
Helos do not separate us for miles and miles.
So here I am, looking back over the years,
reminiscing the dearest of friends we've made.
I must confess that the experiences and the
memories are not easy to digest, as I
become overwhelmed with tears.

LICO
No había nada
Que alguien necesitara
Y que él
No se ofreciera
Tanto él como
Su esposa
Hacían hoyos
Por cualquier causa
Un hombre
Tan amado
Que lastima
Que haya pasado
Con el señor
El ha de estar
Abriendo senderos
Para los demás
No es el recuerdo
Que tiene uno de su morir
Sino lo feliz
Que nos hizo por su vivir
Lico, en las manos de Dios estas
Y un día
Contigo estaremos
Descansando en paz
No adiós, Carnalito,
Sino hasta luego
Pues al aire libre
A pasear volveremos
