The Shine

The angst comes with a grip...

Strapped to the shaft of my silver gun,

it shines on my runs,

I like to eat when I kill
because killing isn't fun,

just like when swimming underwater satisfies the sun,

coming up again gives ya the bump,

seeing the daylight once again-

feeling that heat like a Mexican,

when thinking of blessings and
the rest of the world in a big bubble with smoke and glitter-
the regular people have splinters-
they are livers...

But need help,
because the first world acts bitter.

I will never show how much fitter anybody could be if bid come ta hither,

if one were to become prisoner,
and needed time like listeners...

The the smallest of us all,

hearing the most,
and breathing the boast...

Coming again and again,

needing nothing but stories of kin,

people they love being here for them,

and so can be you...

Just don't ever say shoe,
and they will hear you!

Jump up and do,
because the rest of the world says wait to choose.

First, they sent the dogs
And it became a dog’s toilet,
So, we moved to more remote areas.

Then they burnt the restaurant
So, we carried our own water and fruit
To the fringes of the liveable sands.

So as not to dry out like desert dates
We became slimmer and saved money.

Then they closed the parking lot
So, we walked miles on foot
We got fitter and saw more of nature.

What we saw became more beautiful
With each countering passage
For those of us who persevered.

Now there is hardly a soul left,
But those who are, are strong and fit.

Dune flowers are blooming again
Without the constant threat of trampling feet
And everywhere you can hear the rhythm of the sea,

White waves breaking and reforming refrains
Without the cries and shrieks of spoiled children
Or the barking of undisciplined domestic beasts.

We felt how beautiful everything is
Sub-human, man absent from God’s creation.

And even his attempts of countering and ruin
Were turned into creative and regenerative forces
Within us now greater love’s awareness courses.

Why I Write Poetry, With a Pen Tip of Honey

Though medicine tastes bad and bitter as it always skitters
On the tongue’s taste buds as the black sea on sand that glitters
It helps and uplifts the body to get fitter
Honey glazed on the rim of the medicine cup tastes so sweet
To children for the body’s healing from sickness’s heat
Gnostic teachings are tough to swallow in their obscurity
But paintings of words illustrate all their healing beauty
Made from the honeycombs of flowing thoughts with surety
For the healing and release of soul and spirit
The nectar for the bubbling spring is not from myself
But comes from the fruits that the Father has planted himself
So the whole cup is his work, I can’t take true credit itself

Therefore I accept that golden ink to drip unto the page
To make Christ’s teachings shine even more sweetly in this age

Premium Member Modern Royal Treatment

After taking a shot of claret wine
Thackray on a mission to find
And she was not going to be declined
With a blade in hand getting a goal
Thackray did not look old
Spirits very high
Headed to the new castle in the sky
Deciding to meet and give a good try
Seeing Antonio no longer bitter
“I remember you were my movie costume fitter”
Laughing Antonio had a goal
And an honest soul
“Thackray I made you look good
As you should”
Hearing the remark she flashed a smile
And that image is still in her professional file
“That is right we are West Ham United
Ready to handle modern day fighting”
Letting her go through
Hoping today’s royals are cool
She stood before them
Ready to defend
Her influence on men
“You are no longer seventeen
In those dreamy
Blue jeans”
Royals stated
Then waited
For the answer
From the dancer
“I still got the look
Credibility in the modeling book
Relegating zone is following me around
Trying to take me down
A source I was able to contact
Said I still have a contract
I as a West Ham can still get another goal
And would be favorable to the modern royal public poll"
Modern royals looked at each other
Wondering if they were Thackray’s Mother
“We royals truly listen
And concluded you do not need our permission”
Thackray thanked them for their two pences
Accepted this draw ‘as making senses’
Later in the day
Aston was challenged to stay
With a point would be made
Receiving a nice grade
Went to Anfield
To check on a deal
“We are still number one
Writing paperbacks for fun”
Hosts did comment
Hotel rented Aston got it
Drama did unfold
Aston was still very bold
Yet Reds put one in
Stayed back for the win
“Mommy” Aston did say
“I need to talk to you about the Villa today!”
While Aston began to leave
Reality started to breath
When another one went in
Securing the Liverpool win
It was a civil ending
Honesty pending
Modern royals still nice
Gave the West hammy some advice
“You never stalk alone
Just answer the text or phone
Paperback writers are still out there
Needing west ham united to give audiences a scare”

The Kitchen Fitter

The Kitchen Fitter
As the wire set alight I cursed his low born name
Then he hit me with a bill and I said you go to hell.
To court he did take me, to pay he was going to make me.

The first appearance was a joke, the judge in squash shorts and a coat
He wanted time to read the papers thoroughly through and through

The kitchen fitter looked smug, but I said just watch your mug
He said, you will have to pay and I told him, no, no way
I said if you do proceed you will greatly regret this deed

The fitter laughed as he told me that he could have bought and sold me
But in court I was to have the last laugh on him.

I stood there and defended my reason not to pay
The judge looked bored to him this was just another day
I said that it’s a crime and for it the fitter should do time
And a counter case I proceeded to relay
Just ask the low born fitter what bad parts he used that day

I began.
It is a criminal offence to take to court on some pretence
When you know that you don’t really have a claim
So I turned the tables on him, and the judge demanded to know
Hey you kitchen fitter, just what do you think is your game?
I proclaimed that he used faulty parts and that he knew it
And as the fire started their defence was gone because the fuses blew it
The judge decreed that I must succeed and he did proceed
To throw out the spurious claim for pay

I then related quietly that he had kept me up nightly
wondering how to put right the dubious work he did on that day.

The judge looked at me and he said oh I can guarantee
That the kitchen fitter will now be the one to pay
There will be compensation and I make a declaration
That if he comes before me in any shape or form again

Not only will he pay but he’ll come to rue the day
That he ever set foot in this court and your name tried to defame.

YOGA 2019

A passionate follower of the mental and
physical discipline Yoga,
For the past 7 years, enjoy pose of cobra,
Whilst still jittery about Aerial lessons, and
Still a little scared.
Was in my fifties, when my friends in fact dared,
Me to start lessons, you ask what is my age
Do you honestly believe us women, but a sage
Decision I made, feel fitter than ever before,
Recommended by doctor, really shocked her,
When I showed her photos 5 years later!
Do pyramid poses, warrior poses and Bakasana,
so swell
Yoga has helped me to de-stress my life
so well!
Salutations to the sun is an exercise to lengthen
And certainly our muscles to strengthen!
The only problem I have, is that in meditation,
I get the giggles, cannot pay strict attention,
Jennifer, you are disrupting the yoga class,
Feel like a 1st grader, definitely not
Going to pass ,
So try to concentrate until my friend winks
Back at school, always in trouble, high jinks
Sit cross legged easy pose, and uhmmmmmmmm
Like the others,
But think of dinner, oh wow, prawns yum,
I have a dreamy look on my face, my yoga
Teacher has given up, I’m wearing tights, pink polka
Dots, shakes her head – really - but has accepted,
My different approach to life, which has infected
My yoga class, we have such fun,
But still get our yoga lesson done!

AN OLD SHOVEL Poetry Contest Sponsored by: John lawless

______________________________________________________________
Once an archaic shovel—worn and rusted,
Now reborn, its purpose adjusted.
Become the shovel, embrace its might,
Revel in its past—a tale to ignite

With calloused palms—strength untold,
The shovel bore deep, breaking through the mold.
Sweat dripped down—mingling with the earth,
As dreams of a fitter future gave birth.

Of arduous work and toil,
Of digging trenches and turning soil.
From dawn until dusk, it never wavered.
A faithful companion—never faltered.

Ponder its present—a relic of the past,
But it is still a tool—its purpose is vast.
Now resting against a weathered shed,
Its once sharp edge—now dull and dead.

The shovel, once a symbol of might,
Now waits patiently for its chance to ignite.
Bestowed by a child, curious and free,
The shovel becomes a treasure, a key.

To dig and explore, to uncover the unknown,
To create castles and kingdoms of their own.
The child marvels—at its worn-out charm,
As they dig deeper, their imagination warms.

They uncover hidden treasures, buried deep.
Imaginary worlds—where secrets—keep
The shovel, now a vessel for dreams,
Guiding the child through endless streams.

With each scoop of earth, a raw adventure awaits.
As the shovel unearths, the child's excitement escalates.
They discover fossils and ancient bones.
Unlocking mysteries—rewriting history's tone

The shovel journey continues, ever-evolving.
From laborers' hands to children's exploring.
It reminds us of the power within.
To shape the world, to uncover, and to begin.

Explore its meaning, the shovel essence,
A symbol of resilience and presence.
In its worn-out state, it still holds worth.
Teaching us lessons of resilience and rebirth.

From laborer—to child
The shovel journey—ever wild
So let us honor this humble tool,
A testament to the human spirit fuel.

Gunfighter Ballad For a Modern World

He was the world’s last gun fighter
And he always worked in drag
Carrying his six shooters
In a special velvet bag.

No boots and spurs to jingle
As in to town he rode,
Just patent leather sling backs
High heeled and open toed.
He always arrived early
Before the heat of the sun
Always so very careful
His mascara didn’t run.

And when he’d done the job,
Left the body on the ground,
He always left so quickly,
Never ever hung around.
The world’s last gunfighter;
He always earned his fee,
And always in the morning so
As not to disturb his Earl Grey tea.

Then he carefully slipped back
Into his other life;
A gas fitter in Cheltenham
With two kids and a wife,
While the police of the world,
Who really didn’t know
Hunted the femme fatale
Of his alter ego.

When the next summons came
In the want ads of the Times
He’d don his Dior dresses
And kill just one more time.
Well it helped to pay the mortgage
And kept food on the table
And a mans got to do
Just what he’s really able.

He was the world’s last gun fighter
And he always worked in drag
Carrying his six shooters
In a special velvet bag

Premium Member Human Limitation V Imagination

Sailboats horses and carts and canal transport
Whale oil lighting and candles, salt to preserve
Meat, limited sanitation and available running
Water, all are part of a formerly more static society '

Which kept people in their national boundries.'
The emphasis seems to be on returning the
World to a typology of the above.? This being
Part of ( green agendas ) wordwide.?

Why then? Facilitate mass movements of
Humanity across borders.? If its more
Desirable for a worldwude static existence?
That will be inherent in any return to above
Practices.'

Is it just ideas.? That some people have cooked
Up after obtaining a doctorate, or other credentials
To get a million plus payment from a slush fund.?
With no real plan on how to live this out.?

I am myself quite prepared to live with limited
Technology..Yet it involves more effort, which
Would keep humans fitter.' A balance can be struck
But I dont see any cohesive drive.? I see ( a i ) and

A move to even more tech, and so called outsourcing
More desire for matterial things more waste much less
Recycling than from the 1920s to the 1980s am I
Alone in these observations? I welcome any comments.'

Premium Member Evolving Democracy

The greatest democracy to ever exist,
The democracy that fought to survive,
Is bigger than any country on Earth,
It’s governed by a healthy sex drive,

Where each generation reproduces itself,
Electing somebody who’s fitter,
Replacing the old, with one in a million,
Where one sperm is elected the winner.

And the old governing body falls by the side,
Making room for the healthy new hearts,
In every species, all over the world,
From humans to peacocks to sharks,

The greatest democracy to ever exist,
To be perfect after every election,
Is nature itself, in an evolving democracy,
The democracy of Natural Selection.
