Notes About The Poem

Yoga 2019

YOGA 2019

A passionate follower of the mental and
physical discipline Yoga,
For the past 7 years, enjoy pose of cobra,
Whilst still jittery about Aerial lessons, and
Still a little scared.
Was in my fifties, when my friends in fact dared,
Me to start lessons, you ask what is my age
Do you honestly believe us women, but a sage
Decision I made, feel fitter than ever before,
Recommended by doctor, really shocked her,
When I showed her photos 5 years later!
Do pyramid poses, warrior poses and Bakasana,
so swell
Yoga has helped me to de-stress my life
so well!
Salutations to the sun is an exercise to lengthen
And certainly our muscles to strengthen!
The only problem I have, is that in meditation,
I get the giggles, cannot pay strict attention,
Jennifer, you are disrupting the yoga class,
Feel like a 1st grader, definitely not
Going to pass ,
So try to concentrate until my friend winks
Back at school, always in trouble, high jinks
Sit cross legged easy pose, and uhmmmmmmmm
Like the others,
But think of dinner, oh wow, prawns yum,
I have a dreamy look on my face, my yoga
Teacher has given up, I’m wearing tights, pink polka
Dots, shakes her head – really - but has accepted,
My different approach to life, which has infected
My yoga class, we have such fun,
But still get our yoga lesson done!

I took it up at 55; am still working on some poses that I am doubting I will ever succeed with and I still love it! Isn't it amazing how one day you're too stiff to move and a couple of weeks into yoga and you're mowing the lawn and out enjoying yourself again? Well penned.

Thanks MLK - such a lovely comment! It is amazing, it makes you feel you can run a marathon, which I certainly can't but it give one a holistic feeling of calmness, vitality and strength! Keep mowing that lawn! - hugs and blessings always. Jennifer.

Love the pic and words that both share you with the reader. This is a wonderful glimpse into you that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. You standing on your head is impressive but are you bendable enough for all Yoga poses? I'm not (I can stand on my head though.) I liked spending time with you via this write. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

I am pretty flexible, but have a slight problem with my one ankle hence the exercise in the pic - she makes me do this often to strengthen it - I can't stand on my head , but this exercise makes me feel that I have conquered mount Everest! Still have a long way to go, started yoga late in life, are you still doing Yoga? Love and hugs, Jenny.

Thanks S.O - more and more young men and older men are joining yoga, and classes for children have also commenced - yoga has become a style of life! Thanks for the visit and awesome comment. Hugs, Jennifer.

A fun approach to yoga is certainly worth experiencing, Jenny...at least that is how I see it from the entertaining words of this lovely poem (though I will reluctantly pass the offer of wearing pink polka dotted tights!) ~ Warm regards & Hugs // paul

I don't dress in the conventional yoga gear, wear what I'm comfortable in, and my pink polka dot pants are just that - I understand you passing the offer however Paul! Live is too short to be too serious all the time, much to the frustration of my yoga teacher! Thank you for a terrific comment my friend. Warm regards and hugs, Jenny.

Hi Arturo, a risky move, but always up for a challenge, no net to catch me! Our sons also meditate, they have also tried with me, just doesn't work . Thanks for a lovely comment Arturo and for your terrific friendship which I value very much! Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

I was the healthiest I have ever been at the age of 50 and I was doing yoga and so fit it was nigh onto ridiculous. I may get back there now after reading this inspiring poem!

I feel better than I did in my thirties - go to yoga twice a week, once with a class and 2nd one is private (she has even taught me bell dancing). You should start again Caren, good for body, mind and soul. Thank you for all your wonderful support. Hugs, Jennifer.

Scared stiff when I do it - just my legs holding me from a fatal fall - I am an adventurer at heart, and always up for a challenge! Blessings, Jennifer.
