Premium Member My Truths

Falling down to my splintering knees,
Heaven or Hell, the stone will be cast.
Like whiplash, the ground beneath me begins to crack open
As my truth is played out against an apocalyptic backdrop.
                        Sins weighed against my empathic
                        compassion,
Caught in riptides of my darkness; will light save me?
Flames lick against my flesh as the vultures circle around.
Pleading to the heavens, I swear my truths are sincere.
I pushed back against those incessant inner
           demons
As they flirted with the devil.
But my sanity assimilated, and I plunged down that pit.
Sins took hold, infecting, infesting; the damage that
            was already done.
I plead for your unconditional mercy:
Don’t let the razor teeth tear me apart.

Premium Member If This Was My Last Poetry Contest

If this was my last poetry contest I would be incapacitated
Unable to think of anything else.
Nothing would revive me.
I would slide down into the floor rafters.
Falling with no grace at all in the middle of rats.

If this was my last poetry contest I would not be eager
To face tomorrow or tonight
I would make my poem extra long
Adding so many words it would be obscene
And no one would ever read it,
including me.

If this was my last poetry contest it would mean
that tomorrow I would be deceased, or in a coma,
or want to be one or both.

Poetry contests rev me up, ramp me up, keep me excited,
give me brilliant new ideas, make me feel joyful and eager
to try new things. Poetry contests have become my go-to
happy place.

Inequity

Falling from a lofty mountain,
the river outreaches the village,
where a mob awaits to nudge
and others build the hedge.

Little drops from the fluffy clouds
set foot on the treasured ground,
sometimes dampen the heat wounds
and sometimes make houses drown

Majestic tree gives shades to cows and pigs,
but kills the worms by hurling its twigs.
And the regal sun gives life to flowers,
but blazes the boneless worms that crawl

Even the nature, alike the god,
bestows blessings to some
and blows curses on others.
And when we question them
they both go dumb
incuplating the karma...

Platform Number Three

Colors, I see colors and textures around me.
The scent of the hot wires and every spark
that tames the perpetual falling and forever
running metro. There are people, all sorts of people,
eagerly waiting, clearly losing their patience and
people, standing so still in their own melancholy
of mind. The odor, oh, the odor mixed with the
array of perfumes. People chattering, some loud,
some discreet. Those glooming, little eyes. Waiting
to see the choo choo and hopping on it. Them
running around the station as if no one is watching.
The rush and chaos, the horn of the metro brings.
The pulling, pushing, rubbing of the passengers to
get in this one train. Finally inside, searching for
the empty seats for there are none. Even when
standing, the odor follows. People peeking into
your phones and overhearing your conversations.
The chaos subsides, as the horn goes again,
signaling the departing of the train. The platform
No. 3, standing there, still, lifeless, waiting for the
next set of passengers, to feel again what it's been
feeling for all these years, not murmuring,
never murmuring.

Night Cloak

Each night sheds its cloak
    morning sun rises
    touching the tree tops
    slow and steady easing forth.
it drapes the earth
    soft and warm with light
    slipping out of transient shadows
short and solemn on the dew.
Budding late bloom morning glories
   trumpet in the new day
   cobalt blue opening wide
stretching high to touch the day.
Two dozen trumpeteers
   calling and tantalizing the wind
   for a gentle swaying waltz
in the dance to bid goodbye to spring life.
The sycamores shaded grays peel
bent twisted regalia of sticky balls
folding dry brittle falling star leaves.
All the landscape awakes
to warmth and light groggy with sleep
   basking in the morning cool
   ready to greet October days.
The seasonal changing of the guard
   wafting autumn in the air
fading blue azure skies to gray white
fall puts on the cloak of winter's cold night.

I love the gentle rains of spring
falling with felicity as they sing.
A symphony of sweet romance
Clamor to“Come out and dance”

So, I shall join the raindrops there
While pirouetted through the air
As rain rolls and returns, I'll sway
As they perform an aerial ballet

The rain will bear a rhythmic beat
On the pavement squishy and sweet
We shall twirl a tango at nature ball
Whilst the sparkling waters mildly fall

Afterward, when the skies start to clear
And the epic dancing is utterly here
I accompany the newly formed rainbow
Raindrops shifting offer a serenade show

Yet, their call will resound in my ears
As supple showers start to fall as tears
Until then, my emotions will remain
The delight of dancing through the rain

Portrait of a Thousand Hearts

I’ve been playing it safe for way too long
Leaving pieces of you behind
The sound of rain
Falling in my head

She put midnight beneath my fallen stars
She was everything I couldn’t be apart of
I didn’t sleep last night
Your message was all I thought of

Must I break a thousand hearts to find you

I want it to be everything
That wont bring you a hard time
Afraid to enjoy my time with you
We both know it has to end

She said I’m not promised tomorrow
But I’m not sure I want to give it up
The more I comforted her
The more I felt she needed me

Must I break a thousand hearts to find you

People who see balanced
Find it hard to look away from life
She doesn’t like it when she cries
But at least she still feels

Must I break a thousand hearts
Just to find you
Must I break a thousand hearts
Just to find you

Premium Member Winter Whispers

Too long away; too far gone from my journey’s road
Born free
As free as the wind blows through the pines on a cold November morning
Whispering its song of summer longing
Glorious in its shivering, needles still gently falling to the ground
Creating a soft bed for those who choose to take advantage of the warmth beneath
Early blue skies darken to gray, signaling the coming white snow
Signs of life still rustle about enduring the chill of the early winter
to romp the floors of the forest, foraging for food
There is something about the winter with its chill
clearing away the stale summer’s end that draws me in to savor its richness and wonder
Oh, winter, touch me with your sting of cold and travel inward to my heart to melt the blast of ice.
Warmth bursts forward and allows the inner child to emerge eagerly to greet nature in all its glory.

Love Again

As long as you haven't grown tired of me yet,
You can read to me the bed-time story,
About the horrors of the wicked witch,
Or even the fantasy of the Snowwhite princess.
You can even sing to my stubborn soul the bed-time song,
Which my mother did not when nursing naughty me.
Yet,one thing surely still holds,
That as long as the sky hasn't fallen on to the earth,
I shall neither blink my heavy eyes-
Nor close them in perfect peace to perfect rest-
Which always sits at the corner of every day;-
Waiting patiently to hug weariness out of each one of us.
Tonight is one exception, of all those nights,
When, like a hungry dog I always ran to my master,
 "Sleep ; the heart's desire";
The only charming prince, who so far hasn't broken my heart.

They say,that,
"The heart wants what the heart wants";
Which,I agree with just for now,
When I do not want to give in my all to sleep,
When,I cannot stand it,being held hostage-
For the entire night, for those, so many hours,
By just one ruler who never retires, "sleep".
Because,like I said,
Tonight,I will be up and out all night;
Pacing up and down from left to right;
About to break the ground upon which I tread angilry!
Tracing through the thick darkness for my old paths,
Reading between the lines on a blank sheet of paper,
Seeing through my opaque life like it, ever was transparent.
I will sit here all by myself,
Taking in the cold air and lies of the moon;
Taking back my words of never falling in love again.
Listening and dancing along with the sound of loneliness;
Letting those sweet chords and tunes of silence-
Flow down my spine through this emptiness of my life.
If ever I needed space,it is right now,
When all I need is to open the pages of my memories,
And see through those few faces that Keep haunting my spirit,
And open up to thinking,
That I may know what I can do to love again;
That I may know how to love again;
That I may allow in that one more person to love me again;
When the sun shines brightly and innocently upon us,
When the wind blows mercilessly past us;
At the far end of the night, where a new day,I shall meet.

Premium Member Too Young To Get Old

I'm really much too young to get old
Something's drastically out of whack
I'm still this handsome, charismatic stud
Why's my body giving me flack?

A strange bump just formed on my neck
Don't think it was there yesterday
My hair seems a bit thinner and greyer
But I'm still young in all other ways

My body is falling apart, bit by bit
Takes me an hour to put on my pants
I wheeze while watching sports on TV
My wife never asks me to dance

There must be a pill old geezers can take
To slow down this aging tommyrot
I'm not ready yet for an old folks home
Yesterday, I was still pretty hot

This can't be, I'm much too young
To say 'uncle' and throw in the towel
Gonna fight like hell and never give up
If I could only control my bowels!
