My Ashamed Song

The piano rushing with water.
Cramping hands and nothing feelings.
I used to have my mind.
Now it’s unleashed like a groggy mess.

Like spines being tangled up.
Teeth teeter tottering.
Clamming up like a tree wants to do, but can’t.
He really wants to slip away from the wind.

Drums and cymbals.
Eyes lifting like a garage door.
And stuck.
No one leaves.

No one would leave me.
Even the lonely guy playing the triangle.
The trilling isn't an instrument at all.
Sounds like a sudden exhaustion.

So I was late that day.
They don’t take attendance unless I’m gone and trapped.
I love music for no reason at all.
The piano burst through.

Unleashed.
Drums and cymbals.
Exhaustion.
Exhaustion.

East Devon Beacon

East Devon Beacon
by Michael R. Burch

Evening darkens upon the moors,
Forgiveness?a hairless thing
skirting the headlamps, fugitive.

Why have we come,
traversing the long miles
and extremities of solitude,
worriedly crisscrossing the wrong maps
with directions
obtained from passing strangers?

Why do we sit,
frantically retracing
love’s long-forgotten signal points
with cramping, ink-stained fingers?

Why the preemptive frowns,
the litigious silences,
when only yesterday we watched
as, out of an autumn sky this vast,
over an orchard or an onion field,
wild Vs of distressed geese
sped across the moon’s face,
the sound of their panicked wings
like our alarmed hearts
pounding in unison?

My favourite episode scene
Has to be seen, to know what I mean
'Only Fools and Horses' is the comedy show
Just watch and the laughing will flow

The scene that I talk about
Is of 'Del Boy' in yuppie spout pout
As he talks with 'Trigger' at the bar
Has his business exploits, now gone to far

In casual chat as he goes to lean on the hatch
The waiter exits, now in gravity he's detached
He rests to lean into an normal leaned meet
In rigid compose to the floor he does greet

He rises all flustered in dishevelled pose
His desire to vacate from his embarrassed compose
He clicks his heels, running a country mile
Hey Trigger I'm out of here, your cramping my style

Menopause

Menopause uggg

Adam was given work for his sin
Eve was given the privilege to produce kin

Never once was menopause mentioned
Who created this invention?

They say get an ablation, it’s the best thing since apple pie
You’ll stop bleeding and you don’t have to try

What they don’t tell you is, it doesn’t always work
But heck, the no cramping is a perk!!

Whatever!! It threw me right into the change
My life seems a little nuts in exchange
My kids think I’m lazy but in actuality I’m a lot crazy

I don’t sleep, and I stay wide awake
My moods are all over so the niceness is all fake

I wake in a pool of sweat
Only to later freeze, throw me the net !!

Oh the hot flashes are real
It’s great for sex appeal

The man says you must be hot for me
I just roll over and say no, I gotta pee

Weight gain is going at turbo speed
Chocolate is the number one need.

I just want to be left alone and not bothered
Give me peace and I’ll be honored

Don’t wish for periods to end
You’ll never be right again my friend.

Truth trips tasty
Orbit over
Use ups ugly
Charm claims cover
Hurts hurl hasty

Tall tales tally
Ointment oily
Urge untimely
Choice chills calmly
Host heaps hotly

Take trouble tales
Open observe
Unzip unveils
Cheer clouds conserve
Heap haunting highs

Time treasures truce
Orb opts obtuse
Urge unfurls use
Clear cramping curse
Hide hideous hearse

Thrill tender thrill
Obey obsess
Uptight useless
Chase charming chills
Hover high hills

Tingle tangle
Offer ogle
Urgent urges
Crafty charges
Hidden hedges

Charming chapters
Hopeless haven

An Open Soul To Hidden Truths

There is a certain pride in my heart,
Deep in the gut of my soul,
And in every moving cell working for the other
That preaches and presses in a padded jail
Where no other living soul can hear
Treasurable, valuable words being uttered
With conviction and every golden verdict

It is a silent pride, and a sad one at times,
Longing to be heard, though it cannot reveal
Longing to be shared with a parched mind
That can only reveal itself through the continual
Ritual of living each day
I want to share with utter integrity and light,
With a full heart, to activate the gentle expansion
Of freeing, outstretched wings

You cannot listen to these truths I scream
Because I am closed away by this pride,
My cognizance and cruel prudence imprisons me,
And at times I am happily bound

This pride, this opulent air of knowing
Restlessly deepens within
It seeps deeper inside,
Because I doubt any will quite understand
And appreciate

Through the lens of pure honesty
This pride is fearful and selfish
We do not want to be seen as a fool
I want these confessions to feel
Omnipotent, and apart from my emotions
Pure honesty reminds me
That without emotions, without feeling…
This knowledge, this enlightenment
Cannot be expressed
Unless fear, cramping the soul
Leaves this prison
If love eases breakage to flow into tender ears
To compassionate minds,
And perceptive hearts

Meat

She turns up the blue flames,
lowers the chops.
Dripping crackles, iron is fat licked -
grease on her fingers.

The meat finds its voice,
splutters of buttery smaze.
The pork is in bloom.
The animal inside the flesh
disappearing.
The meat opening
florets of aroma.

My stomach is cramping,
not with anticipation,
but with an acidic hopelessness.

Mother turns from the gas burner;
splattered apron - flushed cheeks.
She smiles, not looking at me,
but seeing a man
who will be home soon.

“He will love these.”

I pretend not to hear, but wonder
if there will be milk with
my cornflakes.

In Memory of My Distant Love

Pondering up on hidden thoughts I relax in the balcony,
recollecting those crafted priceless moments
whence you had cast a spell~was immersed in severe infatuation.
Always lending me your broad shoulders, pampering
me to rest my crown.
When am cramping down due to menstruation,
you'll indulge in all the household chores, cradling me to sleep.
Cooking food and feeding each other with love & care.
Sadly when I gesture, you stretch out your warm hands forward to console me.
Angrily when I seethed ,calmingly you bore.
Dawn to midnight showering me with infinite kisses, promoting my cheeks to blush in twilight.
Fluttering thoughts of our laughters and fun, dousing in same passion, how nicely we appreciated each other.
Missing silly fights concluding with tight wrapping cuddles;
Rewinding our candle lit dinner and romantic duets,
stepping on foot, pressing against your chest.
Dissolving time by re-reading past conversations;
Cocooning me as a child in your heart, you've travelled apart.
I beseech you to come back soon,so that we could start off our life.
Will tip toe you being your companion.

Excise Exercise 3: Phantom feelings

Phantom feelings...
stinging prickly reminders
that missing attachments
were parts of real healing.

Painful loss replays
trauma bond tricks and treats.
Days of death danced a two-step
with hot held hope
Two faced masking for supply.

Divine love's inculcation
Came from a different angle,
crossing over from an unusual side.
Damage control diagnosis
is clear cut hope
in clean-cut separation
from what had already died.

Mind-Heart becomes supple
when you don't need to split
your Self into two states-
your odds at each other's throat.

Drop the knives.
You stabbed yourself in the foot
so many times.
Face that fork in the road-
You brought your broken heart here.
Face prosthetic help
Like all those veterans of false soul mate war.
Facing choice that is no choice
forces you to stand up.

Walk forward on your own two feet...
The future is a fearless clean slate.

Phantom Sensation/Pain after Amputation: When the missing part of a limb is still "felt." May feel as if the mission part of your limb is asleep. Stronger sensations that feel like burning, twisting, cramping, aching, are called "Phantom Pain." (Do research.)
Phantom Emotions are described as emotional reactions from childhood that persist and get triggered, causing us a great deal of unnecessary pain and suffering. Our brain and nervous system can hardwire memories of painful experiences from childhood that are no longer there.
According to Helen Kramer, renowned author, therapist, it's possible to identify these phantom emotions, and replace them, and live as the empowered, confident adults we always desired to be.
