I am trying to sleep
Noise outside seeps within
Despite fingers plugging all the holes
Wanton intruders banging on my being's door
Embedding bedlam blasts beneath the skin bellowing bleats and bangs
Squirming like bed bugs screaming and squiggling for blood
Fracas and racket, make caterwauling jangles that rattle within
It's 'Bye Bye' to lullaby, 'Hello' to 'Hell Raising Commotion, Pandemonium'
Noise a personal affront, up front and confronting
Must be quelled and dispelled
I'm up now, angry and fired up,
So look out!
Noisy shout, yell and scream, rage and anger, bang and uproar, screams fit to wake the dead
Shut Up, Now! Stop the Noise!
The only way to stop noise is with noise
For noise blots out calm reason which fails
Only noise on noise cancels the noise out.
Can old thoughts of hurt that we shun
Cancel life’s gifts wonder and fun?
If anger must stay
Within brain’s array
Do we run with pain in the sun?
To digest bad memory’s lunch
Chop stick therapies help us munch
And chew on old pain
So our bad chow mein
Will taste sweet like a Nestle’s crunch
Although it seems weird and so strange
If current behavior we change
Old things we found bad
No longer seem sad
As memories do rearrange
Thought patterns that left our mood scarred
That colored the present as marred
Yield to a changed script
Where wounds from the crypt
Appear like a kind greeting card
Forgiveness is really for us
It adds onto life like a plus
Anger’s not treasure
But cancels pleasure
And deports good times on a bus
See that familiar form:
Happy joy strikes a norm,
Warm refuge from life's storms.
Sense a fond smile now squeeze:
Heart flutters in the breeze,
Kind comfort in harsh sneeze.
Delight frames a fond face:
Beauty in warm embrace,
Warm eyes that hurl kind grace.
Sure poise of charming voice:
Calm touch that cancels noise,
Silent resolve floods choice.
Bright sparkling eyes tell all:
Heed the lovely sans gall,
Wise beyond life's stern call.
You wear a certain glow:
Your heart speaks truth you show,
A touch that helps us know.
You mother well our days:
Touch of purpose that stays,
The path upon the way.
What is man without you?
You bring meaning that woos,
Love lives in all you do.

The old man sighs:
Thoughts winging by,
Dry tears yet ply,
An unseen cry.
Too much of change:
So out of range,
All seems so strange,
Touch now deranged.
In a sad look:
Watch fatigue nook,
Words in old book,
Bear empty hook.
Here but not here:
In limbo spheres,
Old thoughts endear,
Cause of new fear.
Old age can fling:
An empty swing,
Sense curls and things,
So out-of-sync.
Here on the edge:
Upon this ledge,
Feel a strange wedge,
A distant hedge.
Stray thoughts frame plight:
On a free flight,
Each day brings light,
Cast dimming sight.
At the last gate:
Know way of fate,
Death's never late,
Grace arcs sure date.
Shouts curl and hurl:
In a mad swirl,
There goes the world,
Buzz, jazz and twirl.
Watch thus due time:
Flings strange odd chimes,
Pulse cancels rhyme,
Void then old mimes.
Alone the squeeze:
Skims a stray breeze,
That dry hoarse sneeze,
Odd drowning tease.
Sense weary wit:
This odd misfit,
In puzzled bits,
An abrupt slit.

The Truth
If you follow the truth,
And are foolhardy enough to try and describe it,
You end up with something
That like an algebraic equation
Cancels itself out and leaves you with nothing.
It’s a complicated and convoluted thing this truth,
And it takes a lot of courage to follow it
All the way to such a vacant end.
Most of us settle for less
And make a name for ourselves
On the half truths we cling to and proclaim
There are very few positions in society
Of any great standing for truth tellers after all
Certainly not in academia, the media, entertainment or politics.
You’ll find truth tellers,
Fellow travelers reduced to nothing,
At the back of the bus,
In dive bars grooving to some unknown band
Hitchhiking late at night going, for God’s sake,
Who knows where,
Or out on the beach, way down at the far end
Naked and alone.
Anyway, at least those are some I’ve met
Who guided me
Not so much as to where or when or what
But simply to how
How to keep moving
If not physically, at least emotionally and mentally
How to keep wondering,
Which is what those that see
With a sense of wonder can’t help but do,
Until the wonderful is seen in everything
In every moment, the very instant itself
When the equations of a lifetime
Balance out to zero.

A significantly different day
No bread or milk
empty for toilet paper
Reduced opening hours in grocery stores
- Home insulation with
respiratory infection
Rationing on medicines
School closes -
no leisure activities
No daycare
No bus or taxi
No traveling abroad
All aboard aircraft and boat
must in quarantine
Large preventive measure
Dramatic cut in hotel beds
The church cancels all services
Closed office buildings
No cinema or theater

Forgiveness comes not from without,
Rather inward, born of understanding.
It's not an emotion given to shout,
This quiet strength never demanding.
Only a peaceful soul is calm, reflects,
A selfish one a churning rapid, shallow.
Forgiveness cares not for itself, it deflects.
Though pierced by thorns from a rose mallow.
Held close, yet in palms always revealed,
Shared with all without care or malice.
Forgiveness flows freely, never concealed.
Its seeds fell from a wooden cross, a holy chalice.
Forgiveness is the light that cancels dark debt,
As it gives completely,a noble mindset.

It is midnight when I remember a friend is coming early in the morning to play in the studio with me.
I really should go to bed.
Which friend? My husband asks.
They are all the same to him. He does not know them. They belong to me, usually brought home from work.
She is the one who always cancels, I tell him.
I am pretty sure she will cancel.
Six hours float by, and I wake with a start. Should I clean the house?
She always cancels, my muse argues. Agreeing, I go back to sleep.
I oversleep, waking again at 9; she is supposed to be here in twenty minutes.
My heart is pounding.
I grab the cell phone. Look for her cancellation.
A sigh of relief.
She cancelled at 8:23 via text.
Sorry, she says. Stomach flu again.
She has the stomach flu more often than children go to school.
I am relieved that she is consistently unreliable.
Also relieved I did not go out of my way.
I invite her back next week.
It is a game we play.
"a heartbeat pulsating as living light
free from each and every limitation
I Am that dwelling in unbound delight
the source wherefrom arises creation"
I study the void
conclude it is light it craves
become lost within my calculations
dimensions unspurl
spirals catastrophise
until
spinning
cancels
itself out
and I am still
within my stillness I seek
seeing no ground
having no anchor
it is me that craves
I fear I am the void
should I internalise the vortex
walk the line dizzy
with hand unheld
gamble on transformation
to the entirety of light
see myself
reflected on the outer edges
not through another lens
let the doppelganger
drop away
what if that
I'm tired of holding everything in so here I go.
I'm too tired to get out of bed anymore, this has happened before.
I'm too tired to even say how I'm really feeling and all I do feel is tired and nothing is nothing a feeling?
I've gone numb again how fun.
I get asked 5 times a week how do you feel at least 2 a day gotta love your boyfriend for caring,
except I'm tired of hearing that question and to be honest I don't even know if I love my boyfriend or not anymore.
I feel like all my relationships end like this It's simple I just stop loving that person,
while I should say like love is a strong word.
What's really holding me back is I love someone else, always will but he's moved on.
I'm tired of having fake friends and the few real friends I have we hardly speak.
I'm tired of living in a house where there are bars everywhere I look there's no escape.
stuck, lost, sad, tired, depressed and numb that's messed up in the head messed up not in the head.
Light dark cancels each other out right not with me it's just darkness with more darkness.
I see it when I sleep the dark its call's my name and it's all I know so I run to its embrace.
Then complain that I'm stuck and I'm tired of being stuck or am I tired that I keep running down this path further and further till it consumes me fully?
When will I start to run towards the light, when will I dig myself out of this depression that I have let taken over for so long too long.
