Going Away
The old man sighs: Thoughts winging by, Dry tears yet ply, An unseen cry. Too much of change: So out of range, All seems so strange, Touch now deranged. In a sad look: Watch fatigue nook, Words in old book, Bear empty hook. Here but not here: In limbo spheres, Old thoughts endear, Cause of new fear. Old age can fling: An empty swing, Sense curls and things, So out-of-sync. Here on the edge: Upon this ledge, Feel a strange wedge, A distant hedge. Stray thoughts frame plight: On a free flight, Each day brings light, Cast dimming sight. At the last gate: Know way of fate, Death's never late, Grace arcs sure date. Shouts curl and hurl: In a mad swirl, There goes the world, Buzz, jazz and twirl. Watch thus due time: Flings strange odd chimes, Pulse cancels rhyme, Void then old mimes. Alone the squeeze: Skims a stray breeze, That dry hoarse sneeze, Odd drowning tease. Sense weary wit: This odd misfit, In puzzled bits, An abrupt slit. Leon Enriquez 15 October 2017 Singapore
