Premium Member Happy Day After

I’ve written about the day before Christmas…then added Christmas Day into the mix…
So it only seems appropriate that I write about December 26.

So…happy day after Christmas…like Christmas it’s a day that can enchant and captivate…but it has the disadvantage of arriving one day late.

December 26 knows it could be a day more people would adore…
If only it showed up a little earlier…if it had arrived one day before.

(Not to make light of Boxing Day or the Feast of St. Stephen…which on the 26th are on display…ill-fated,, however, to be celebrated in the shadow of Christmas Day.)

Yes I’m afraid December 26th if destined forever to be cursed…
with the relative obscurity of the day that follows January 1st.

So today I celebrate all those days who just because of their one-day lateness
are destined to travel down the path of history...one day away from greatness.

We remember the first man on the moon…how Neil Armstrong led the way…
while the second Buzz Aldrin, is as remembered as they day after Valentine’s day

We remember Edmund Hillary, the first to scale Mt. Everest one cold and fateful day
but who remembers, Tenzing Norgay, the sherpa who accompanied him on his way?

Mt. Everest it’s the tallest mountain in the world but the second is almost as high
Yet K-2 is only an afterthought, kind of like the 5th day of July.

Amelia Earhart was the first to fly across the Atlantic Ocean…at her many accolades were hurled…but did you know the second, Geraldine Mock..actually made it all the way around the world?

Isn’t it funny how life works, for none of us could have foreseen
that Geraldine would be a footnote in history…like the day after Halloween.

But such is the way the calendar unfolds, from January to December
some days, like people are destined for greatness…while others we hardly remember.

I think it’s time we change all that and give these days and people their due.
for I believe second places and days after deserve a home in our hearts too.

So hold your chin up December 26th, today is your day to shine…
after all you could show up only every 4years…like February 29.

Premium Member Post Christmas Feelings

It's boxing day morning just awoke
Christmas has gone for another year
you think back over the past week
was it all worth it now the new years near?

Now think of all your worries
not knowing what to get who for
was it worth all the stress?
not really despite nearly all-out war

Christmas day itself all was dull
every tum had their adequate amount
then most of us fell fast asleep
the rest left to clean up to count

The kids were happy with their lot
still playing games so brand new
Mum and Dad left checking credit card
was it really that much? that's now due

Now only 12 months to go again
but much could happen in that time
just enjoy spring around the corner
ink your pen drink in your rhyme

THEY WERE NOT ADMIRED, THEY WERE HARDLY EVEN LIKED, THEY REFRAMED FROM COMMENT DUE TO THEIR DISPOSITION, ALLOWING
SOMEONE WITH A GREATER DISPOSITION TO BE IN CONTROLL. mONITERING
THEIR ABLITIES WOULD BE EASY AS THESE MEN WERE ADVANCE IN THEIR TRAINING. THEIR WORKS WERE OF THE TEACHINS OF "GEM FULLA" (WORLD FAMOUS SUBMITION GRAPPLER. ONCE KNOW IN THEIR NATIVE COSTA RICA AS
U-NEW, AND U-OLE, THEY HAD REIGNED SUPREME, UNTIL "THE MEN FROM DAFFA" CAME TO THEIR TERRITORY, AND MADE COMPANY MEN OUTTA FREELANCERS. THEY DEFEATED THE TWO IN A "COMMONGROUND- STANDOFF"( A TWO OUT OF THREE FALL SUBMITION MATCH) THEY WERE DEPOSSED BY THE PROMOTION, AND SHAMED BY THEIR PEERS, THOSE WHO SUGGESTED, THE TWO TO WEAR MASK, IN LIGHT OF THEIR SHAME. MONTHS LATER, WHEN THEY HAD REBOUNDED TO RECOVER, THEY HAD WON 25 OUT OF 33 MATCHES, AND HAD POSITIONED THEMSELVES FOR A CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE MATCH. THERE LUCK EVEN HAD THEM TO FIND FORTUNE IN MEXICO, WERE THEY BECAME CHAMPIONS NATIONAL, AND PRIMO JAPAN'S TOP-DRAW CHAMPIONS, BY DEFEATING THE LEGENDARY TEAM OF BRICE BULLSTRONG AND PANK PRICHARD. ONCE AGAIN THEY WERE ON TOP OF THE HILL WHEN THEY FOUND THEMSELVES COSTA RICAN TAG CHAMPIONS VIA, A NO-CONTEST STIPULATION IN THE CHAMPIONS CONTRACT, WHEN THE CHAMPIONS REFUSED TO DEFEND THE TITLE THE CHAMPIONSHIP COMMITY NAMED THE NUMBER ONE CONTENDERS THE NEW CHAMPIONS, ONCE THE TITLES WERE STRIPPED FROM THE CHAMPIONS,U-OLE, PULLED THE MASKED LUCHADOR INTO THE RING AND PINNED HIM, THIS CEMENTED THE REIGN, AND EVEN THE LOSSED CHAMPIONS GAVE CONGRADES TO THE NEW CHAMPIONS.
WE DON'T KNOW IF IT'S TRUE OR NOT, BUT THE APPEARANCE OF A NEW TEAM IN THE HIGHLY POPULAR WORLD BRAND RASSLIN, COMPANY NAMED THE DUO NUMBER FOUR IN THEIR INTERNATIONAL SERIES ( A TAGTEAM TOURNAMENT) BUT THE OPPOSING SIDE HAD A NEW TAGTEAM NAMED " RIVERRATTS" (PANINI PRESTON ANDAUX AMANDES ) WHO RESEMBLED THE COSTA RICAIN DUO. WORLD REKNBOWNED GRAPPLER, CUSSIN PAGE, CALLED OUT BOTH TEAMS TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SITUATION, BUT ONE TEAM DESIDED TO JOKE AROUND, AND SENT OUT TWO WOMEN DRESSED AS MEN IN MASKED TO ANWSER THE CHALLENGE. FORTUNATLY FOR THE FANS THE RIVERRATS RECORDED THE ANWSER TO THE CHALLENGE EALIER, THEY ACSEPTED THE CHALLENGE, AND THE MATCH WAS MADE FOR HOUSE SHOW PRIOR TO THE MAINEVENT TELEVISION EVENT. WE DON'T KNOW WHO THESE GUY'S ARE BUT WE CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT THESE PEOPLE HAVE TO SAY,

The Sacred Meow Society

On next night of demise of my spouse
      a mild knock at entrance
alarmed me to open the door.
Unfamiliar cat with feline look lifted a paw.
          Uttering ' meow' sat cool.
            I welcomed him showing hand
but he lay down closing eyes.
Next morn, I saw no trace.

On next night as I was prepared to retire in bed
               mild knock alerted me.
Same cat lifted a paw , sat and lay down quiet calm.
Next morning I could not find him.

But this schedule has been set regular till date.
I grant and honour this feline compassion
to guard a lone lady at gate.
Holy cat must be sent from
                The Sacred Meow Society
                  to act as my sentinel.

A Very Memorable Christmas Present

** A Very Memorable Christmas Present **

Someone made an err::
Boxing Day ‘ere’s
Been the day of — not after.
What started as the greatest
Christmas ever, turned
Us from better to worse
As our tempers grew, altered
After our fingers were slid into
Those gift-wrapped firm gloves of leather,
Punching through the room’s air
At each other
With words roused from harsh to meaner,
‘Till our referee pup barked
To end our Round 1, forcing a turnover
Into creating a round of rich laughter.
Re-freshed, happier, remembering our
Proper manners appropriate to honor
Our Savior’s birthday…We resolved
A return trip to the store to trade
That shared present of boxing gloves for
A healthier, sturdy set of parallel bars.

Happy Birthday, King Jesus

Once Upon the Green Sea

Once upon a time

I was, it seems like 100 years ago,
on an old fashion cargo ship, the carried all sorts
from potatoes, flour, machine parts, plastic flowers,
and tinned fruit, meat, and hats for the wife of the president
in Honduras.
For some reason, there was a door in my store room
it led into a cargo hold I filled the larder till it looked
like a corner shop. My task was to keep the cost of living down,
and the captain got a telegram from the company complimenting
me on keeping the cost down.
When the ship birthed in some obscure port, the unloading
took a long time and there was time to go ashore
have a bit of fun and a good steak with wine at a restaurant.
I was twenty-five and had a hell of a time, but nothing
lasts forever, the ship was sold to a Greek shipping company
and we all had to go home.

A Park Bench At Christmas

THE PARK BENCH AT CHRISTMAS>/centre>

Santa sits on a park bench with Rudolph by his side.
A mechanical fault on the loaded sleigh has interrupted their ride.
Never before has this happened, not in two thousand years.
But now the world would be flooded by a million children’s tears.
He’s sent a text to Mrs. Claus to tell her of their plight,
And his elves are fetching spare parts, speeding through the night.
So while he sits there waiting, knowing help is at hand,
He switches on his lap top, to e-mail each child in the land,
“My sleigh’s been giving trouble, there may be some delay.
This year you’ll have to be patient and wait ‘til Boxing Day”

An Athlete's Poem

It takes a lot of time to master such skill
There are lot of downtimes but I climb on my hill
There are days that my body is strained and about to give up
But I go back to self- determination and rise up

The passion to play runs in my veins
I will train myself hard though it rains
My discipline is as scorching as sun
But I still make my sport a sort of fun

This game is worthwhile and is something even more
The confidence it gives can make my dreams soar
Every accomplishment that I made, my modesty becomes better
Each time I face defeat, my dedication becomes stronger

Winning and losing are faces of reality
But it changes my entire entity
So I keep myself motivated and listen to my coach
The God Almighty Himself will hand me His torch

There is something more than a gold medal hanging on my neck
It is something that no one can ever wreck
This whole meaningful experience makes me complete
I am very proud that I grow to be an ATHLETE

Premium Member QUIRKY TURKEY

T’was the night before Christmas, my favorite night,
Excitement, the Christmas tree, presents wrapped bright,
Preparations in full swing for Christmas Day,
Midnight service, carols ringing, come what may.

The turkey ready, a memory of my dad cooking, I hold dear,
A second turkey for Boxing Day must be prepared, sadly I fear,
The 1st wrapped in foil, the 2nd one also, a disaster was clear,
I thought that inevitably an upset was near.

My Aunt unlike my mom, expected us to arrive with a turkey,
For my aunt never bothered to have anything ready,
My brother packed the car with presents and a foiled bird,
The scene that unfolded later was hysterical, yet absurd.

We arrived in the pouring rain, the weather was murky,
Don’t forget the presents and of course the famous turkey,
My eye on it never wavered, my brother had a plan,
But told me not to tell, that day he was nobody’s fan.

The turkey took centre place on the dining room table,
My Aunt had also invited their neighbour, Aunty Mable,
The festivities begun and we each took our seats,
Carving the turkey this year was Hubby’s feat.

As he took off the foil carefully, my anxiety grew,
What transpired caused dismay somewhat undue,
For there on the table stood a raw, defrosted turkey,
Anyone for Kentucky chicken I asked in a voice rather perky.

My mom got uncontrollable giggles, my brother winked at me,
What was happening, how could this possibly be,
He ran to the car, presented us with a joy that did meet every eye,
The real MC-coy, a roasted turkey he’d hid in the trunk, oh my!
