This is now my unofficial Poetry Soup Blog.
I know you're only supposed to post poetry here,
but as far as I can tell,
I can blog here as well
as long as my blog rhymes poetically to the reader's ear.
So check back here now and then occasionally.
I may have announcements to share for all of you to read,
but I'll post these blog announcements poetically.
That should justify my posting a Soup Blog
in a space that is most strictly reserved to log
all kinds of styles of all kinds of poetry.
If I have any new news that needs to be released
I'll leave this web address posted on my last posted poetry piece.

I have deleted the following pieces from my postings.
Thank You Bird Of Prey & A Pale Male Tale.
I also have revised a couple of postings.
Pale Male's First Love & In Loving Memory Of Pale Male.
With both of those pieces I've eliminated the entire text
and substituted all of the text with a single web address.
Feel free to give them both a quick look see.
Do you think this is a good idea?
Your opinion matters to me.

This Is Not My Poem (Author Unknown) Parts 1 & 2
will be deleted at the beginning of the New Year
so you might want to give it one last view.
It's a special Holiday poem that you may want to read.
I posted it with the hope that a fellow Souper might know the author's identity.
I know the author's name now, thanks to one Mr A. W. Nutter, aka Anthony.
The author's name is Michael Marks. I'll leave his web page address before I leave
so that fellow Soupers who join in the new year can also give him a read.

Here's the web address also for Mr Nutter's Poetry, aka Anthony's Poetry.

Premium Member My Morning Read

Many years ago, birth announcements caught my eye.
But now, obituaries top my morning read.

Oh yes, these pictures stare at me with smiles.
Within each dear face- a small snap of life:
some, with expressions caught in younger days-
and others showing somber ones near death.
Below each face- the span of life in years-
and chosen words that list expected facts:
those left behind; accomplishments revealed.
Too short- to capture how they really lived.

This age- too many
stare at me from dark pages-
many I have known.
But those brief words never show
how sorely they will be missed.

Captivated and compelled to find my little friend,
who has broken out in song again.
Sitting on the window ledge,
he stretches his neck as he tilts his head.
Releasing a group of compact and purposeful notes,
I gaze blissfully upon his silken, iridescent cloak.
Feathers...
Fashioned and fitted
and plucked to perfection,
he begins to sing this mornings delightful rendition.
I am wondering what makes my little friend sing out like this today ?
What meaning is his melody trying to convey ?
....The morning’s announcements ?
Meant to guard the others in his little band, against the peril at hand.
A few of his ravenous neighbors are on the prowl,
scouring and scouting his surrounding acres now...Be on watch !

BEWARE !

Or is it a pledge of noble chivalry, his love songs sweet endowments of fidelity.
Could it be a gleeful ode of expression, my excited little friends’
personal impressions of Mother Natures morning menu ?...
Is he calling to his brethren so they can begin sampling too ?
Could he be pronouncing and proclaiming the virtues of his simple existence ?
Or, perhaps, instead,
he is voicing his frustrations,
with winters harsh weather,
as it transitions,
into springs bountiful splendor.

I dare not ask as I linger there, in quite admiration
appreciating my little friends melodic and heartfelt song.
Charmed and besotted by him, I am taken unawares.
The song sung by one has turned into TWO !
They sing together,
ever so sweetly now,
as a pair.

Premium Member Enlargment

I have poured out my heart like water
But only those understanding will see
I have laid the grief of the children
before the King appointed to be

I have studied each fragile connection
and the way that men hurt their own
the shield and the scars sealed deeply
and left too many hearts without home

Slave to traditions and teachings
don’t taste don’t touch and don’t care
Ten thousand things that you shouldn’t
of ideological stoning beware

But none can follow examples
of courses they don’t understand
but let’s flay them alive with blazing
and their lives let’s mark with a brand

When learning you to walk upright
when you fell were you beaten and shamed
if just now you are learning to do right
is it just when you fall to be framed

In the gentle stillness
in movement softer than a breeze
pictures of their future
the rest of man at ease

And tender are the Words
that coax the fragile shoots
whose mildness alights
the growth of goodly fruits

Your promises have held me
and voice mine ears carress
in delicate expressions
which avows your loves address

You have drawn us with affection
with persuasions clearly pure
assurances of a truthful pledge
of a love that will endure

In earnest is your bestowal
the announcements of your speech
in readiness to accomplish
to divulge the heart you teach

The essence of your compassion
the ardor of your intent
the center of our being
to its enlargement are we bent

We waded through embankments
and rivers did we ford
sought for the precious things
what is the Truth of Lord

You are the Sun the Moon the Rain
the energy that creates growth
the spirit who supports all Life
and to save it given oath

We will forever turn to you
and happily throw our crown
prostrate in humble gratitude
For the Love within have found

Two Trains

The railroad ride was smooth as silk
Though it was ten degrees.
The train was just a minute late –
No time to feel the freeze.

We passed through towns of snow-topped homes
While sitting warm and snug,
The ticket taker’s attitude
As friendly as a hug.

But at Grand Central, we got off
And had to make a switch
To ride the city subway;
Let’s enumerate each glitch:

The crowded platform packed with people
Cursing the delays;
The trash-strewn tracks accruing more
On which the rats will graze.

Announcements stating that all trains
Are locals, not express;
Yet finally, we cram on board
As all those bodies press.

We go one stop and then the doors
On certain cars won’t close.
We’re ordered off and stumble out –
Well, that’s the way it goes.

We grab a cab and make it home
And think of those two trains –
Whatever calm the rail provides,
The subway quickly drains.

Premium Member Orphans

We’ve left behind orphans, you and I,
a gaggle of memories like street urchins
left to starve and die in the
city of self-imposed amnesia.

We’ve staged our own deaths,
reciting happy obituaries of our former selves,
birth announcements of our new incarnations,
everyone duly notified of fissure and closure.

So that those troublesome orphans,
believing us dead,
homeless, unattended,
are left forever behind;
memories unremembered,
past disowned by present.

But they know where we are,
and they come,
knock on the doors behind which
we’re safely ensconced in new lives.

We let them knock,
cringing and waiting
with furtive glances
from behind closed curtains
until they finally recede into the night.

They are unconcerned, these little orphans.

The camouflage of our reinvented selves
don’t hide us.

They will be back.

Premium Member Christmas caroling

Someday I’ll miss the sound
Of my mom singing carols
Off-key in the other room
While I’m trying to fall asleep
(We agree Bing Crosby and Dean Martin
Have astonishingly similar voices)
Mingled with her announcements
I got another one!!
Tallying up her finds
On our impossible cupcakes puzzle
Marooned on half our dining table
Ever since last Valentine’s
(She wants to entice me to help her find more
But I lost my patience long ago
So I just made her a glass of lemonade
With five ice cubes falling from the fridge)
It’s mildly annoying right now
Hearing her argue with cupcakes
Singing along quite out loud
With her unending playlist
Yet it’s also kind of comforting
To pause and think
This will be a memory of her
I can make it sad or happy
And I know I’d regret it if I complained
Because someday I’ll miss the sound
Of my mom singing carols

Nonviolent designers

ignoring various morbid diseases
sinning
sundry mental/spiritual pathologies
unsafe behavior

And feeling ugly

bad sexing
eating crap
unsafe touching

Undeclaring vengeful killing wars
Straight White Male supremacy
ecofeminist confused agendas
greens
reds
whites
blues
browns
blacks

Lust
rust
greed
going to seed

All these STOP campaigns
seem to miss my pointed
loser experience
that aiming for what makes me right now happy
is, perhaps, a long-term disgrace

So, what I aim for
instead
is whatever lies
and hiddenness,
safe camouflage
behind
and beneath respectful society's
muttered under sour breath
"good riddance"ness,

I aim for saving face.

You can campaign
all commercial day
and consummating night
to persuade me that my health
is also our happy
absence of communal fright
and resonant,
perhaps even resilient,
brilliantly enlightened
and empowering wealth.

But,
in my heart
of hurt
addiction
depression
anxiety
remorse for an angry life
at least half dead
from fear
you may uncover me
in ways I can't pretend
to self-righteously defend

I need some campaign
even larger than anti-addiction
to thinking either bliss
or blues,

Win/lose
Earth's evolving
devolving runaway mission,
money exchanging zero-sum transmission,
inside a nonzero multiplying transmission
system

Not for peace,
or win/win health
is also wealth,
or whimsically precarious
happy nest
unrest;
not sure I tried
my best.

I want to join
Earth's Great Return
for self-regenerating
revolving annual campaigns
springing climate forth
summer's healthy maturation
falling harvest wisdom
wintering indigenous
sacred
nurtured meaning,

Theological enlightenment
ecologically empowering
in-between
co-arising Yang SunGod
and Yintegral
Matriarchal Earth

Tribes consuming public campaigns
green co-passionate
communion
saving Earth's most happy
sacred face,
warm embrace,
holistic place
divinely humane race
toward peaceful space
and pace.

A song produces 1,000 dances at a total cost of $500.00@show
It increases production to 3,000 dances, and the new total cost is $15,000.00@show.
Calculate the change in quantity: A show is rehearsed and parts of the show needs
permission to reperform, if the show's value decreases:does this make opportunity for
reproduction due to decreased interest or does it mean that someone is pulling the chain

Premium Member Night Tour

Then there is the night
with its backstreets of characters,
masked, intractable, unwilling
to leave the comfort of their
lifelong haunts. They call out
then turn away in fear
of being known.

And below, the corridors
of the underground winding through
sleepless hours,
the constant echo of footsteps
and voices punctured
by announcements of departures
to nameless places. Images cast
on grimey walls passing in haste,
doors slamed shut.

Nothing sutures together,
consciousness becomes fragments
glimpsed on screens,
splintered sounds,
words finding no meaning.
And having brought you here
what can I offer you
but the pricked chill
of an anesthetic
being eased into a vein,
the oblivion of dreamless sleep,
then daybreak bleeding through
the stuck lid of an eye,
the first thin incision of hope.
