"You are stronger than you think."

                                                                  Quote _ Google

As a young girl I spent a lot of time alone,
overtime I learnt to not be lonely by learning to be creative;
I was and am motivated by all I see, smell, and hear,
my mother's garden was ever a place of inspiration and enchantment.

Poetry books enchanted me for hours and hours,
those poets of old and their words became my friends and muses;
I loved to read books and they gave me great revelations,
God blessed be with divine illumination.

The library was my place of insight and incentive,
I was hungry for knowledge of all types and in all ways;
when I discovered the art gallery it was like a magical world to me,
I did and still do spend hours and hours wandering the art.

So, on my journey I gathered a state of mind,
of sharing what I have discovered with others of like mind;
I wish to be their awakening, their encouragement and motivation,
oh, to be that spark that lights a fire within another.

I am all that I am because of my childhood experiences,
those experiences could have made me a failure in this life;
but instead, God told me to be a light that glows,
shining on all who seek my help to be more than they are.

A Story To Tell

Once there was a girl who heard about The Lord
Like I said, she heard but didn't know who He was
Life went on as it always does
Deep inside He was calling from up above
Times of tell and the tell of times
As we all do, I went on to live my life
Visions I saw and they weren't just dreams
Some came to be a part of reality
The Lord works in mysterious ways
I've learned to see that throughout all my days
I've lived a life being inferior to none
Not giving knowledge of The Holy One
He knew me before I ever was
I'm only still here because of His grace and love
A tale of a story and a story to tell
Trust and believe for we all deserve hell
Jesus is the light, the light of the world
For a lot of mankind only seek diamonds and pearls
The Lord giveth and He taketh away
None of this world will be here to stay
The devil seeketh to destroy and steal
Promises he may make, but none are real
It comes to me and I write it down
Understand and give praise for my, our Lord wears the Crown
All Glory to God and forever it shall be
For He's the One who created you and me
Smile, stay blessed and give Him Praise
For He is our help throughout all our days
A story to tell that's real and true
Let not your hearts be hardened to not see the truth...

Those scientists, they have no clue
I’m doing what they will not do
I’m gonna scramble nature just for you
My cat’s mixed with a chicken
And it isn’t finger lickin
But now my cat goes cock-a-doodle-doo

I took a bold and risky leap
Stirred up a kangaroo and sheep
Good luck sorting that out Miss Bo Peep
But when you take a sheep or two
And mix them with a kangaroo
You make a lovely woolly jumper too

My dog’s mixed with a garden snail
So now my dog can catch it’s tail
The crocodile was added for a lark
The postman isn’t happy
’cause my crocapoo is snappy
And now his bite is far worse than his bark

Rotors stuck on elephants
Although there’s little evidence
Seemed to be a clever thing to do
You’ll need an iron brolly
Which will cost a lot of lolly
If an Elecopter does a massive poo

The whales they are not suited
To our seas that are polluted
So I lassoed a giraffe with an old rope
I mixed it with a great big whale
So now between its head and tail
The whale has got a built in periscope

The lawmen just came knocking
And they said my work was shocking
They brought a scientist who said Tut-tut
These creatures you’ve amended
Simply cannot be commended
So, did somebody mix you with a nut?

("A Moment of Grace" aka "The Empty Mirror", 2024, original encaustic)

The Truth

If you follow the truth,
And are foolhardy enough to try and describe it,
You end up with something
That like an algebraic equation
Cancels itself out and leaves you with nothing.
It’s a complicated and convoluted thing this truth,
And it takes a lot of courage to follow it
All the way to such a vacant end.
Most of us settle for less
And make a name for ourselves
On the half truths we cling to and proclaim
There are very few positions in society
Of any great standing for truth tellers after all
Certainly not in academia, the media, entertainment or politics.
You’ll find truth tellers,
Fellow travelers reduced to nothing,
At the back of the bus,
In dive bars grooving to some unknown band
Hitchhiking late at night going, for God’s sake,
Who knows where,
Or out on the beach, way down at the far end
Naked and alone.
Anyway, at least those are some I’ve met
Who guided me
Not so much as to where or when or what
But simply to how
How to keep moving
If not physically, at least emotionally and mentally
How to keep wondering,
Which is what those that see
With a sense of wonder can’t help but do,
Until the wonderful is seen in everything
In every moment, the very instant itself
When the equations of a lifetime
Balance out to zero.

New School

I had heard about it.

Then I saw it being built on the burial ground
of a field I had many times
played war upon.

Between noon and sundown,
the concrete arose;
an ashen boned jaw
riveted to the skyline.

I still looked to the green field
where, as Custer
I had made my 'last stands'.

I dreamed once that I was a dog,
just a pup,
chained to the school's bicycle rails.
Inside the new school
teachers screeched through split nails.

When they installed the glass
and painted the new building,
a too quiet foreboding came my way.
I knew that the arrow in my eye
was going to be pushed
a lot further in one day.

When I was teaching my autistic students
with, what I thought, was enthusiasm and verve
the parents of the students I taught would oftentimes observe.

And though it’s been many years since I retired
since I left that life behind
two parents in particular…stick out in my mind.

One parent thought I could do no wrong…she thought I was a saint
The other thought everything I did was wrong…a saint, she thought…he ain’t!

I’ill admit when it came to the first parent my ego needed to practice little restraint…
I mean I was doing the best I could but please…really….me…a saint!

And when it came to the second parent my ego needed a little boost..
Again…I was doing the best I could but was I as bad as she deduced?

When my clearer head prevailed after their praise and criticism were dispersed…
I know I wasn’t the best teacher in the world…nor was I the worst.

I did do some things well and so I felt some of the first parent’s praise I earned
while the second parent reminded me…I still had a lot to learn.

These parents taught me how praise could put me on cloud nine
while criticism could cut me like a knife…
in my jobs
my friendships
my marriage
in my parenting…my life

It was probably one of the greatest lessons that I have ever had…
Teaching me to improve on any good I do while learning from the bad.

Even now, when that first parent’s doubt enter my mind…
when I find my confidence is faint…
I smile remembering there’s at least one person out there
who thinks I am a saint.

Premium Member Rage Sex

Did you see the way Debbie was winking at me last night.

That wasn’t winking, her eyes were rolling in disgust.

No, it was definitely come on eyes.

My God, you got arrested at the altar for bigamy, why the hell would she come on to you.

I didn’t realise I was married, I mean, who the hell thinks a guy dressed as Elvis and a Marlon Monroe lookalike could possibly marry you.

Two months in prison wasn’t enough for you.

I actually learned quite a lot in prison, do you know the prison governess let me work under her.

Tell me you didn’t propose to her.

Of course, I didn’t, though I wouldn’t have minded, she does live in a lovely big house.

How do you know she lives in a big house.

That’s where I served my sentence, it was a sort of house arrest.

I honestly can’t believe what I’m hearing, I mean, how the hell do you do it, do women just feel sorry you.

I’ve got a big heart. So, if you don’t mind texting Debbie and asking her for a date on my behalf.

No problem, actually can’t wait to get the reply. Here goes. Oh, and here’s the reply. ‘’Tell that lying cheating bastard I wouldn’t go out with him if he was the last man on earth.’’ I think that speaks volumes, don’t you.

Fantastic.

What’s fantastic.

So you didn’t see the hidden meaning in that text.

My God, do you know I actually commit people like you, you are utterly delusional.

Text her back and ask her if she wants rage sex.

You are stark raving mad, I really should have you locked up for your own safety.

A Thousand pounds say I’m right, Mr smart Psychiatrist.

A thousand pounds, right, you’re on. Here goes, again. Okay you’ve got twenty minutes to get to her house before the rage wears off.

Fantastic, oh if you don’t mind putting that money into my account, one will need it for the champagne and oysters to get our strength back for the night session.

I am going down to my office, and I’m going to pull every diploma off the wall and smash them to bits. I am then going to commit myself into the mental asylum, cos I just don’t know what the hell happened there.

Premium Member A Case Against Suicide

Light will eventually find its way
through the dark. No one lives in it
forever, so never give in to suicide
Just wait until the light comes out
It will find you in the dark

You are loved more than you'll ever know
And you are special, even though
you don't feel it. Never give in to suicide
It's not the answer. Refuse to let
your demons defeat you.

Let life breathe into your lungs.
It's not your time to go. Hang tough
You're stronger than you know
Life is still shaking its tambourine
for you. There's a lot of life to live!

Whatever you're going through, remember this...
Someone out there understands your pain
Someone out there lives in the same darkness
that you're living in now. But you eventually
see the light. Please be strong enough to wait!

Never give in to suicide. You can't escape
your misery without trapping those
you leave behind in the same cocoon.
Seek refuge in God when darkness
engulfs you; lean on friends and family.

There's no shame in seeking help
People care. They're more than willing
to help you pull through the hard times
Light will eventually find you in the dark
It's going to be alright.

Streets of the Pen

In the streets of the pen, poems are scattered
Some of the poems I can greet
Some of the poems I can feed
In the streets of the pen, poems are scattered

Some of the poems I can greet
From the mountain of immortal love
Where flying the happiest white dove
Some of the poems I can greet

From the mountain of immortal love
The poems come like an endless stream of fountain
There all verses feel happy artlessly the poetic brain
From the mountain of immortal love

The poems come like an endless stream of fountain
Where the love and dream live together
Where the heart makes a heaven of care
The poems come like an endless stream of fountain

Where the love and dream live together
There the poetic world paints a peaceful canvas
There, truth implores the righteous law onrush
Where the love and dream live together

There the poetic world paints a peaceful canvas
Where the poems help to teach me truly
Where I want to live spontaneously
There the poetic world paints a peaceful canvas

Where the poems help to teach me truly
In the streets of the pen, poems are scattered
In the thoughtful wisdom, lies are shattered
Where the poems help to teach me truly

In the streets of the pen, poems are scattered
Some of the poems I can greet
Some of the poems I can feed
In the streets of the pen, poems are scattered

Premium Member All In Love With Handsome

He was a stiff one,
There was a yardstick up his back
His mouth was a paperclip
No gray or red in his world
Black and white, pure office.
No touch of flowers or a picture
For he still lived at home with Mommy
He had to call her if he would be late for dinner
He was twenty-eight

Twenty-two women bookkeepers called him Pen Clip King
They all worked in a giant room in a Super Foods Warehouse
In Des Moines, so they had a lot of the same ideas.
Those who did not, did not last long...
These bookkeepers were happy,
typing and laughing,
chatting while they made innumerable mistakes
on store owner's accounts
Writing checks the wrong way
because this was in the 70's before a bunch of glaring computers
Pen Clip King (PCK) was wimpy, fishy, but he was easy too.
He rarely came out of his glass office at the front.
Never to speak harshly for he did not do that

When he did come out, the hens gave him a look and laughed.
His face was perpetually red about it.
One day a male bookkeeper came to work at Super Foods
He was young and darling.
The older ones tried to entice him with photos of their daughters
The middle-aged tried to flirt with him which was exceedingly stupid
They nicknamed him Handsome, and kept him like a pet
He laughed with them and rolled his eyes at their jokes
He was engaging and fun.
They were all semi-in-love with him
Never realizing that he and Pen Clip King were lovers
