Choosing The Light

Life littered with litres of distress and stress.
Uncertainties certain to terminate happiness in our nest

But we chose hope

Darkness lingering over our lingerie in secrecy
Hurts dished out in hot tempers

Yet we chose hope

Subjected to torture rather than nurture as though we're objects.
Wrongfully wronged in places where the rights of the people should matter.

Still, we chose hope

There wouldn't be the need to be the light of the world if the world is full of light.

Whatever life throws at us
Our light will never go dim
We'll hold on to the thoughts and voice of hope in cloudy days.

We choose hope.

Toilet Like Pilate

A facility he had not used
But about it already enthused:
A not funny challenging toilet,
Water needing like Pontus Pilate:
Just to climb it effusive pride bruised
And when one was through with it still mused

Twelve litres of water when not late:
What one might be right to tag Plain Fate
The wildest cats would towards its slouch,
The wildest man on it limply crouch;
Not a convenience you'd for it vouch,
Found faults in the nastiest language crouch.

Defeated By a Woman

The Election result is a kill-joy
And has a man made a boy:
A result so blunt I’m trying ketamine;
That should my recovery determine
My BP should’ve been key issue
And its treatment a Toilet Tissue …

A woman has captured my capital
And what’s next if not Hospital?
The whole stuff taken to any doorstep
And claiming to have watched my every step …

My eyes have been fed humbling scores,
Another shutting of my political doors
An angering spread sheet on my lap
Underscoring my defeat by a gap.

And I swear animals what these portend,
Birds to laugh if I do them contend …

Right now A chairwoman Elect!
And they wouldn’t me select.
Already, I can see her sky-scraping head gear
And celebratory fanfare in high gear
Artificial eye-lashes one can glimpse from hundred meters
And music-powering generator with hundred litres …

And guess I’m emigrating to Dakar
Or to far-off fourth Africa
Or perhaps nearer Niamey …

No eye-lashes wearer will chair me.

Hot Water Crises

Hot water crisis

Suddenly no hot water
We didn’t have hot water in my childhood
We had to boil water on a kettle
Pour it into a bowl, add cold water and wash
The vital parts.
It was when it was a communal bath, I discovered
Hot water in a shower and clean towels.
I wonderful moment.
Talking about water, there is not so much of it now
The summer lake near the houses is a hole covered with
Thistles and the river are a stony track.
Where I live now the water from the faucet is not potable
We have to buy it at the local shop, and it adds to
The household expensive.
I drink about two litres per day, and it cost more than cheap wine.
I refuse to drink the nasty, the residue of an empty, wine sold inboxes.
A cold glass of water in the morning is aa
Nectar, no one should be denied.

The True Prayer

While litres of milk drifted down the deity's idol like a river, the thirsty stomach on the temple steps wetted its lips.

In the Church Hall

In the church hall, as they sung to pray
To usher in Pastor Nyari, for spiritual food
The tile that crack, ushered in water
The swamp stationed hall, sucked litres of water
Only three boys, were seen floating

Word Smith

The materials are shredded into pieces
He takes his measurement with his intuitive Tape
He Lives himself Lost in creative wilderness
He sits in a serene environment ready to receive his imagination
He transforms his history and experience into beautiful design and style
He appeals to our five senses with litres of expression
He pours out his deepest emotions and moulds them into a verbal harmonious symmetry
He consciously sings as he weaves his feeling into tiny word designs
His lyrical dexterity winks occasionally on the white linen sheet as he knits them perfectly to create artistic unity
We struggle for understanding on the plane of his subjectivity
He creates an amazing piece and models them on a white piece
What an awesome design Mr Word Smith.

Anne Dickins

Anne Dickins

Anne was an endurance cyclist,
But in 2011 she ruptured her back,
Which meant that she did enlist,
Cauda equine syndrome, her yack.

A physiotherapist cool by profession,
And a Games Maker in London 2012,
Anne was offered good instruction,
In canoeing by Colin Radmore, wealth.

Although she suffered seasickness,
Anne took motion sickness lessons,
Normally for fighter pilots skill, duress,
Which meant she overcame sessions.

In 2014 at the ICF Worlds in Moscow,
She won the gold for the 200 metres,
And in 2015, Milan, a silver did follow,
Then 2016 at the Worlds, gold litres.

She was born on the 20th February,
In 1967, so she has much experience;
She won the gold in Rio’s hot country,
In the KL3 class of her convergence.

Limerence

A night’s blizzard winter season,
I was waiting there for no reason,
Under the trees of cherry blossom,
There came a beauty so awesome,
Her dazzling sight made me blank,
Words cannot describe her I am so frank,
Whether her skin is white or pouring snow is white,
I could never guess it was a tough fight,
My hormones popped out in litres,
That cannot be measured in letters,
She looked at me with her smoky eyes,
It was worth more a Nobel prize,
Her calamine pink lips smiled at me,
She waved her hands and said “excuse me”
The musical winds composed in my ears,
A duet we could sing for 100 years,
This is love! I finally found,
Wanna propose her on the very same ground,
Oh god! My English is poor for a couplet,
But love made myself a great poet,
“You see, I see, my heart fell in dead sea,
Can you dive and take it for cost free”
"Sorry sir, my services are not free,
I charge my customers a thousand and three".

Sweet Inheritance

Sweet Inheritance

 He was going to live
 Forever,
Had honey with
His coffee
Every morning
But his allotted time
Was up
In the basement
30 litres of
Honey
Sadly his only son
Has diabetes.

My First Car

My lawyer drives a Jaguar,
a slim and glitzy marque.
He seldom ventures near the Law,
(the work's done by his clerk),
buts sends in bills at Partners Rates;
that avaricious shark.

My Broker's Merc is spanking new;
it takes his fishing rod.
He, as of right, once gently slipped
in shoes his father trod.
All pomp and circumstance he struts,
this self appointed God.

Accountants' BMWs
have litres by the score.
Mine's filled his up with gadgetry
and Wilton on the floor.
And now he's had his Coat of Arms
emblazoned on the door.

I used to have a set of wheels,
a Morris Minor van.
It was a dear and much loved friend
which ran and ran and ran.
I polished it with tender care
and was its greatest fan.

Alas! It's gone to pay the bills.
But why? I cannot see.
All day they guff and huff and puff
and then demand a fee.
I do not want their 'sound advice',
I want a car - for me!
