Premium MemberThe Queen Has a Navy that Floats in Her Gravy

The Queen has a navy
That floats in her gravy,
It’s sharp and its clear,
But it’s sure tough to steer,
For the rudders get stuck
In that thick, grayish muck,
And the lads in the stern
Have a penchant to yearn
For the bright shining waters
All popping with otters,
Yet they smile as they sail past
Her Majesty’s repast,
And wink as they think
That they’d better not sink,
For if sailors go down
In the gravy, they’ll drown,
And you can’t hear them yelp
Through the lard for some help,
And therefore it’s wise
On the ship to keep eyes,
And they sail towards a biscuit
And think that they’ll risk it,
‘Midst butters and jams,
And kippers and clams,
On a crumbly crag
Raise Her Majesty’s flag,
And with hearts beating proud
Face the smiling crowd,
For a deed large or small,
It is better than all,
If it’s done with conviction,
Not merely good diction,
And protecting the table,
Or more, if you’re able,
Brings honor unseen
To country and Queen.

There's was a wager..' caused his raging.) Richie is jumping
On his stagings..Running round corridors of twitching
Curtains and talking walls.' He's madness knows no
Cageing..Wait..! till his kippers arn't poached?? Just rightly..!
There'll be' an anger most unseemly..!! Just to put it
Keenly.' Emerging; emergency perspective of this little Ritchie; to me.!

Squishing and Squelching

All night long
rain bucketed down
When going out this morn
Water ‘twas almost everywhere
Squishing
and
Squelching
As
Seagulls swam without a care
though not a fish in sight
My feet in giant wellies
were damp and cold
as well they might
Squishing
and
Squelching
without a care
Too much water everywhere
So swam back home
to my nice comfy chair
breakfasting
on kippers
with a pot
of Earl Grey tea
No more
Squishing
nor
Squelching
in the rain
for me…

TIT-FOR-TAT PERSIAN CAT
A young man and his chic Persian cat
Help each other out tit-for-tat
He feeds her fresh kippers
She brings him his slippers
Why can’t more couples be thoughtful like that?

Premium MemberBeachcomber Aroma

We live by the sea, just we two, you and me
It offers us all that we need
From our heads to our toes, you make all of our clothes
From sea grass and sometimes sea weed

If our ocean provides it, you will utilise it
I so like the way that you think
Our clothes made from stuff that you found on the beach
But your feet, well they surely do stink

Those earrings you made from a couple of cockles
That pendant you made from a shell
Your bikini top is a strap and two scallops
But your feet, they surely do smell

I keep us well fed from the sea and sea bed
While you keep us suited and booted
You’re my Wonder Woman it has to be said
But your feet, well they really are putrid

We sit on the shore and we like nothing more
Than watching the waders and dippers
But we can’t stay long, there’s a God-awful pong
For your slippers are made out of kippers

[For the uninitiated, kippers are butterflied, smoked herring.]

Please Respect the Walking Drunk

No music
uplifting, soft or loud.
My nerves and liver
have been tenderized
with traumatic alcohol tremors all night.
Be gentle as I descend the stairs
a pale ghost of myself.
No, no fried eggs or smoked kippers!
Black coffee perhaps,
but keep pouring it over my head
until I awake.

Ties

If I really have to wear a tie, best it is a pure silk one.
I have seen the silken threads of a thousand moths
spun on a loom.

I have seen the nimble hands of the workers
at the loom.
The meek shall inherit.

I once had a 'kipper' tie
it was not silk.

I shall eat kippers without a tie -
perhaps tomorrow
for breakfast
on a China plate.

Fishy Fanatics

What would you do, if you did,
get up close and personal with a fish.
Would you ask him a generic q,
like 'where's the nearest public loo?'
Or try your best to respect,
his blubbering, southern dialect.

Granted I would be quite phased,
and think I'd gone rather crazed.
But once past that, I'd marvel too,
and tour the underwater zoo.
Find out just what fish do for fun,
take a bask in midday sun.
Or play a game they call flippers,
the trout are up against the kippers.

Just maybe fish could be my friend?
How though, when their day could end,
chomped down deep inside my tummy,
fish and chips, oh, they are so yummy.
I couldn't ever keep such truth,
about my peckish, junk-filled youth.

But knowing how they live and play,
such fun and laughs within the bay.
I think I'll leave it just for now,
if my stomach will allow.
Mind over matter, it can be done,
a meat free life can be fun.

And maybe I can bring a friend,
make talking fish the newest trend.
Help everyone around me see,
that fishes, are like you and me.

Premium MemberThe Isle of Man, My Forever Home

I feel so proud when I see our national flag raised
and sing our Anthem ‘Oh land of our birth’
This island is not the place where I was born
but there’s no place on earth I’d rather be
with mountains and hills, a patchwork of fields
and the ocean which caresses our shores
I love eating Manx kippers, see cats with no tails
view the famous TT races, and ride horse trams on rails
We do not bow down to ’the Adjacent Isle’
that’s how England is known to the Manx
Our Tynwald parliament's made laws for over 600 years
Elizabeth’s our Sovereign and long may she reign
I’m not Manx but the Island’s my forever home
and my final resting place overlooks the blue sea

Conversationalist

A framed pizza cannot be described as a Mohawk hairstyle in a salon. For if an iron tumbles into a salad bar then ionised tomatoes could become very afraid. Such is the agreeable format for a lettuce leaf. Radiant radishes ridiculing rind. And a dip. And no mayonnaise as it tends to giggle as it is poured. Oh dear. Such travesty in a dish. Wow. If flippers eat kippers then grippers must be dippers. Oh bow to the four sided dog as pyramids could swim through coffee. A collie on a mission is an am or a pm and wires are never disclosed in a tentative tent. Undress then. Wow. How rather entertaining to peel in authenticity a potatoe to place in oiled ceramic bake. Oooh seal deal. Caucuses riotously laughter from the original reporting. And a dip dab do. Tuning. Posturing penguins pointing proudly. Lemon juice on a bicycle chain is a great deity to a hawk in a cradle.sing a song then. La la la. Hahahaha jeopardy jingling. Hahahaha I am a peanut hahahaha you are a door key hahahaha and now we slide. Wow. Xxxx conversationalist. Z.

Hotel Breakfast

What a beautiful breakfast
This hotel  embraces your stay
Everything you could wish for
To keep u going all day

The prunes I had were lovely
So juicy and fat
Now feeling a rumble in my stomach
Was I wise to eat that.

The cooked breakfast is not for me
So I looked for something close
Could have kippers if you wanted
That's what I chose.

They came all two of them
Cooked to perfection
With oozes of butter and lemon
Pleased with my selection

My friends husband made the toast
Has a fettish  that way
Loves to see it golden
Suppose that fettish is ok

Now shall I have marmite
Or Marmalade and Jam
Or simply dripping in butter
What a pig I am

Then to finish off
Had a yogurt to eat
Lovely and creamy
Breakfast is complete

Drank cups of coffee
The decaf kind
Oh my I am so full
Need to walk to unwind

Whilst walking I burped
The taste of kippers abound
Next was a silent fluff
Knew the prunes were around

So this  morning will have simple food
And  not quite enough
No prunes or kippers for me
They make you burp and fluff.

Carolyn's Yeti

There was a yeti called Kippers,
Who tried to use toe nail clippers,
But his toes were too long,
And it went badly wrong,
So now he wears floral slippers.

A Message To Heaven

i wait at night, look for your star
i feel you close, but bodys so far
taken away, removed all your pain
your words and your wisdom, were the things that i gain
long late night chats, getting blind drunk
sharing a beer, or smoking some skunk
i miss all those things, i miss how we talk
i miss when you used me to lean on to walk
i miss when us kids were just little nippers
or when you stunk the house out when cooking your kippers
i miss when we went driving for hours on end
you wernt just a dad you were my best friend
laughing and joking, like when mum burnt the gravey
or the storys you told bout being young in the navey
the tears and the crying, the shouting and screaming
and now that your gone i wake hoping im dreaming
the quick witted mind, but you were sometimes a knob
but now your at peace, reunited with rob
you once told me a secret, when i was eleven
so god bless you dad, is my message to heaven.
