Kibitzer Kelly is in everybody’s biz
She adds details, hoping for some extra fizz
Likes to spy on her neighbors all day long
Takes detailed notes, her observations strong
Writes down license plates of cars every hour
Snooping and spying is her superpower
Kelly cannot get along with her new neighbors
Their tree limbs fall on her fence
They say they want to poison mice
They park their car too close to her property
They plant flowers she does not like to smell
None of the other neighbors like them either, Kelly says.
She sounds like a thirteen-year-old when she says this.
The other neighbors are all on my side.
Make that a ten-year-old.
What do you think? She asks me.
I think you are giving them way too much attention, I say.
What a precious, dear boy, you were.
Caressing me with your long, red fur.
I found you lost, on a San Francisco street.
Into my arms you came, the sweetest treat.
Years have flown by since my life you left.
My heart, you took, upon your quick death.
Bright as the sunrise, you shared my days!
In starlight I see you, on a planetary foray.
Merry Christmas, dearest “Kunta-Kelly”!
Your tummy, soft and warm as Santa’s belly.
You will play in my dreams on Christmas Eve.
When I miss you most and with crystalline tears,
grieve!

Kunta was chosen from the movie, The Lion King.
Kunta …means King….one day, my daughter lifted
Kelly to skies, and shouted “Kunta Kelly”, just as
Kunta was lifted in the movie. A perfect name for
the royal cat, Kelly was! Pangie

R. Kelly did meet Lucy Furr
But - dang it all - she did not purr!
He sang, "Bum Rap"
But that was crap
Because his peers would not concur
Sally wasn't as pretty as Kelly,
they had two different personalities;
one was hard to love, the other was
gentle and surrendered easily.
I shared the love of two girls
who battled to have me desperately;
they fought and pulled their hair,
showing endless rage and jealousy...
they couldn't put an end to their animosity!
I was torn between the two for years,
and finally decided to keep Sally
who was truly faithful and had
a genuine, not a sarcastic sense of humor:
Kelly was rageful and showed insanity,
she sent me to hell, then stalked
me and Sally until she realized her madness!
Sally wasn't as pretty as Kelly,
one had stunning eyes that charmed,
the other a beautiful smile I adored;
I was a lucky dude, but also an unhappy one
breaking up their fights, wiping their tears
and getting slapped a few times...
even though I never took sides in their quarrels,
and watching them being helpless I felt so silly!
Sally wasn't as pretty as Kelly,
but they had a big effect on me;
I didn't need two jealous babes to please me...
all I was looking for was total honesty!
.
In Praise Of Friends.
The quiet one , who is always there .
Whose trust is real, and who'll always share
That secret deep within your inner soul .
No loyalty emblem will he wear .
But in silence lift the pain and dare
To cure the aches and ills your wrongs extol .
No ransom, or obscene demand ;
For loyalty is outside command ,
And beyond the dream of rainbows fickle end .
That silent strength that's by your side
When the hard place and the rock collide ,
Is the lifting power of your special friend .

There once was a kitty named Kelly
Who watched his shows on the telly.
When someone massaged his ears
Kelly’s purr became clear
And he became one cheerful felly.
Spending today
whilst wiling away
each hour
each minute
each second
Pottering about
doing nought
I am feeling
relaxed as can be
For today I have spent
with delightful intent
bathing in words
luxuriating in bubbles
with poetry cleansing my soul
erasing my troubles
sploshing
and splashing
I swim in her poetry puddles
just like Singing in the Rain
I love playing this game
becoming Gene Kelly again…

Ned Kelly
Ned Kelly, born 1854
Beveridge was my town
I wasn’t born with a crown.
Irish parents I have,
Dad, a transported convict
told me, when I was a lad.
Dad, with possession of meat,
Without explanation,
Was locked up because
Of legislation.
Six months later
Dad, died,
got on the drink
His liver, he fried.
I was only 12, the oldest boy
Helping my mum
I tried to enjoy.
Mixed up with the wrong crowd
Harry Power, he was loud.
Steve Hart,
was the counterpart.
Receiving a stolen horse
Got me convicted,
Yes of course.
Named an outlaw bushranger
All in town thought, I was a danger.
Mother imprisoned,
I started my gang,
It was on, I’m going out with a bang.
Had a proud moment.
Saved a boy from drowning,
Felt like a king, without the crowning.
Received a green sash for bravery,
the only moment I felt,
I wasn’t in slavery.
There was once a girl named Kelly
Who ate nothing else but jelly
It fell from her hands
Onto her pants
All she could see was her belly!
The often-accused R. Kelly
likes 'em young, say reports on the telly.
He says, "Innocent am I!" He believes he can fly!
Just as well as he sings, he can LIE.
"I Believe I Can Fly" -- hit song by Kelly

Kelly and Kelly Sounds Smelly
While I had been listening to my Tele,
Things really started seeming smelly;
Wonder why,
Who would lie;
Think it could be both Kelly and Kelly.

SONNET FOR KELLY
The Spring has come a little late this year
Siberian winds and rain have chilled the soul
Though calendar proclaimed that April’s here
No tiny leaves yet rimmed the Elm tree bole *
But One brought inner Spring to heart and mind
And raised the spirits strength to face our chore
Providing us a warmth for which we pined
Then gave us boost that we might start to soar
With raven hair and sparking ebon eye
A glittering jewel on grey cold cloth she shon
Then life here was revived till by and bye
The long awaited Spring gave a new dawn
So we’ll recall long after our departs
How she allayed the cold and warmed our hearts
April 2018
