If I were Hansel, you would be my Gretel. If I were Jaime, you would be my Cersei. If I were your brother, you would be my beloved sister. “You have stolen my heart, my sister, my bride; you have stolen my heart with one glance of your eyes, with one jewel of your necklace. How delightful is your love, my sister, my bride! How much more pleasing is your love than wine, and the fragrance of your perfume more than any spice!”* Alas, you never liked the fantasies of ancient incestuous hymns, preferring the realism of contemporary haiku:
okay, a quickie
but then we go see my mom
and dad anyway

In the folds of the hills
Where the concern lies
And houses are put in the inclined land
The old lady, Manuel's mother
Of Jorge and Isabel
Lived Jaime and Isabel
Lived Jorge and Amanda his wife
Lived the widow of Roberto
The widow's teenager
lived Felipe and Luis
Lived Alejandra
Until the February fire.
Now they live in another fold.

Shar- sorry, vacuum is not correct, although I sure could use one for my home!!
Thank you Jaime- I will read your works tonight.
Shar- re Kitchen Perfume- I admit , baking bread from scratch; flour, yeast, etc.- is
a labor intensive house perfume- but I tell you, you will then be considered the
best cook by all your kids, and your husband will brag for years. I like to use an
old edition of Betty Crocker Cookbook from the 40's- where there is no such thing
as a microwave; sometimes the old ways are better. Make sure the whole family
is there before you put it in the oven.
As for lamb, I only made it once, for my father's sake. We had a huge yard, and
wrap-around porch, part of which he screened off. That was his favored spot-
and that is where I'd serve him meals, usually, with his little B&W TV on a Mets or
Yankees game. Oh the hours of happiness there. Love, tom
The time will come to all of us,
that we have to check out from life,
what's going to happen to my brain
specially when is so much in love,
I don't think it will ever die.
because the love is very strong to
end up in the air, but I'm sure that
a part of it will stay with you, and
in your smile.
I whonder what my last thought will
be when that special day arrives, it
will be love, love, real wonderful
special love the only kind of love
that not even deth can kill.

'Twas the day before New Years
I rose from my bed
My visions of sugar plums
Were unexpected guests instead.
And what to my straining ears
Should I hear,
But the stool in the master bath
Running full gear.
On Matthew, on Karl,
On Savannah and Jaime,
Hurry find grandpa,
If you are able.
Then out to the kitchen
I flew in a flash,
I put on the coffee
Stumbling over the trash.
The toaster not working,
I used the grill,
While halos of smoke
Drifted over the sill,
The fire alarm screamed
Louder than me
The family came running
As fast as could be.
When the visitors were fed
And sent on their way,
'Twas off to the john
That had been put on delay.
On Mickee, On Mariah,
A monkey wrench we need.
On April, on Nicole,
Feed the dog if you please.
And the job on the john
That should take just a minute,
Lasted all day
Taking our patience with it.
Once the problem was mended
And the grandchildren fed,
Grandpa and I
Stumbled off to our bed.
When suddenly I hear
Through the din and the cheer,
Have a happy, happy, happy
Happy New Year!
