Jackal Poems | Examples

Live like a Jackal, Die like a dog

Hear the flames crackle
Fall on your sword
Live like a Jackal
Die like a dog

The lion is weary
Hyenas dart and bite
Their laughing is eerie
He'll lose his last fight.

The vultures are circling
Eyes that see far
Their shadow is on you
Wherever you are.

Betrayal was easy
You were attracted to strife
You gambled with demons
And wagered my life

Now dust claims your legend
You can't make it whole
May hell give you welcome
for you the bell tolls

So hear the flames crackle
No lion saves you now
Live like a Jackal
Die like a dog

I Have Seen the Jackal and His Friend the Crow

His scrunch snout looks me in the eye
His deathly ritual is nigh
They wait and wait for the prey
And I am his, today

As walk with him
Down the path, so dim
He stops before it can end
And says hello to his friend

The melancholy Crow sits away
On a tree branch, to stay
She watches and watches
And the earth, it has notches

The Jackal wants me
The Jackal can’t have me
He wants to lead me
He can’t lead me

The Crow says it’s not time
The distance up comes daytime
The Jackal argues with the light:
“She should be in the night!”

And in the end,
That’s when I met the Jackal and his friend

It comes with a jagged dagger flashing in the moonlight!
Teeth, sharp, like a mad dog showing!
Howling with a jackal's gruff, stiff hair in the wind blowing.
To destroy honor and integrity with vicious attacks.
All endless and hurtfully, ongoing.

Humiliating any with its filthy, bloodied, toenails growing.
His path, one drawn by jealousy, and pretentious clown boyishness, a strolling.
Beware this jackal wearing the face of Christ that's throwing....
Comments to harm any loving and truthful poet.
His harm done with evil-spiteful, vicious knowing.

His Jackal Howl Fills the Room

chained in shackles
to
the
dark dungeon wall
is
the
ghost of doom
where
his
jackal howl fills the room

Jungle's deadly wolf roams,
Jaws tightening as limbs
Jut out from black of night;
Jeering its prey for one
Joust between man and beast:
Jingling its canine paws,
Jolts rip a hunter's flesh!

The Jackal

I'm which you want to avoid on your path at night.
I'll follow you home and you'll never see me in sight.
I'll snatch your cub from your paws while you sleep.
I'll devour it whole while you search and endlessly weep.
I am the Jackal.
