2025 Poetry Marathon Mile 7'
The water inundates the houses and the towns.
Washing all the beauty to an ugliness of brown.
Homes are ruined, with memories loss, by heavy drowning-floods.
Nasty and distasteful times, swallowed, up in muds.
Yet, in all the tragedy, a bond of brotherhood is there.
A loving, sacrificial braveness permeates soaked air.
People stretch to take great risks in saving human lives.
And those within the jaws of death get chances to survive.
The love connection’s present wherever else one goes,
committed faith and caring in a world within the throes.
Heat, fires, droughts and earthquakes won’t destroy “the human bond.”
In all life’s throes of "ugly,” this bond grows ever strong.
When we behold a person save another from death's grasp,
they take upon themselves a risk that no one else can ask.
Such greater love had only ONE to offer up His life.
The beauty of this move to save is divine sacrifice.

Flood of anonymous agony
inundates the debris of hope,
weed-webbed wasteland
of receding reverie
erodes in delirium
within turbulent essence,
wreckage of life piles up,
unlived,
transforms rapture garden
into winter badland
of foreboding discontent,
perceived.
Future meadow waits
to be sauntered
sanguine,
invents fantasy alchemy,
making magical gold
from ferrous aspirations,
gilding rusted crust
of weathering present,
metamorphosed,
marigold ecstasy blooms
in the Midas-touched mind,
mesmerized.
Wrapped by golden rays
of garnet sun,
setting sublime
beyond the content ocean,
entranced mind rolls
in twilight zone
on sapphire life waves,
broken,
yearning psyche is drawn
within the anguish trough,
crashes on existential shore,
shaped by the shadow
of pearlescent past,
petrified
in the collapsed sandcastle
on the beleaguered beach
of the stilled time,
enfolding the blanched grains
of aureate dreams,

The bees to the flowers
The ants to the colony
Termites to the wood
The boy to his girl
As the ants burrow in the hill
Wolves in a cave
And the worms in the dirt
The girls heart is embedded
Into her lovers chest
For she loves her
as the boy loved the girl
The geese leave there home
When the summer comes round
Though, no summer would come
To mark the migration of her love
Left without a flap of wings
Or, perhaps, the boy ignored
The flight all along
The strength of the light
That inundates the lands
It is to rise upon
To was the sorrow the boy felt
When the girl sought to be happy
But he too was blinded
The boy who couldn’t connect
With the girl he once held
Blame to be pinned on he
But only too late
For she was gone
And the boy was
Alone

the rain water inundates my home,
and one day almost killed my little one,
had to carry him across to a dry ledge,
and this is the story, every rain.
Kind sir, I said to the big mountain,
since you are so huge and so mighty,
can you please stop the rain?
There was no sound,
amidst thunder and wind,
water kept pouring, running down the hill,
submerging trees and flooding the river.
I scampered back and forth,
from my food stores to my home,
children get so hungry in the rain.
night vigil in my little deep tunnel,
amidst the brambles and stones,
to keep the venomous rattler out.
bright day and the rain has died down,
and the house is dry.
I counted the little ones and all is right.
If not the rattler, it is the fox,
and the barn owl and then this rain!
I have decided to move home from here!
a cave where the big striped cat lives.
my cousin says, it is added security!
“ever heard of a mouse living with a cat?”
I sometimes laugh to myself.
The truth is sometimes, you are safer
hiding with a known enemy
than living with an inconsiderate friend.

Eventide drizzle,
dainty ballerina
dances with tinsels
of molten rainbow,
captured by twilight
transient,
descends with rhythm
of cosmic ballet
at the ebony edge
of the onyx night,
the squashed sordid sky
enwrapped embellished,
waits to unfurl
rain-rinsed petals
with aurora of afflatus
to embroider
with lattice of luminance
the halcyon horizon,
splendorous.
Juvenile smile,
sparkling sapphire
of innate innocence
configured intrinsic,
cascades as cheerful stream
in verdant valley
of fleeting youth
for a nostalgic while,
with ageless naïve aura
inundates ignorant
the pristine plateau,
the unsullied face
flash flooded,
waits expectant
at doorstep of destiny
hope would turn the time,
drift away
dense obscurity dust,
reveal the fossilized smile
on petrified portrait
in the crumpled canvas
of senile life,
sanguine.

The changing of summer flora guards
Crying April showers, tears usher in
The softening of wintered earth, once hard
Now loosened up as the Earth sheds its skin
The floral fists of flowers do begin
to jab and cross through intractable mud
collective conviction of vernal kin
inundates the Southern meadows, a flood
A triumph to see, the seasonal bud
First flowering in May, the bees delight
Filling their honeycombs with golden blood
Their busy bodies’ mysterious flight
From the palette of God, landscape painted
by fighting flowers, jabbed, crossed and feinted

The flood of agony inundates the debris of hope
The weed-webbed fallow terrain languishes within
Piles up the wreckage of the life unlived
As the garden of rapture turns into bare badland.
The meadow of future waits for me to be walked
The alchemy of fantasy invents the magical glitter of gold
Gilds the rusted crust of the withering present
Marigold of ecstasy blooms in the Midas-touched mind.
Wrapped by the golden rays of the setting sun
The entranced mind rolls on the high waves of life
Pulled within the gloomy trough of anguish
Crashes on the shore shaped by the shadow of dismal past.
The castle I build with golden sands disappears in the sea
And I follow over the decay the footprints of destiny
To the eroded wasteland of the time present
At the end of the aureate dream I dreamt.

Orange and yellow smiles
offer up nutritious seeds,
black oil nutty treats
for birds and me.
Nurtured by nature and the bees
sunflowers generosity is unbounded,
tall standing sentinels of summer
inspire serenades from the finches.
I pop a seed into my mouth,
yummy nutty goodness
and listen to their songs;
warm elation inundates my spirit.

Advent Of Spring
Reemerging sunlight magically illuminate a darkened alpine summit
Cloud lingered for an eternity now banished amidst surviving spruce
Spores through withered ground sprout anew like a recurring comet
Pristine water inundates bank of anonymous river nourishing moose
Above urban landscape people taste remnants of a variety of smells
Relishing April showers children emulate elfin leprechauns carousing
Cabs defying limousines vie for fares portraying overzealous gazelles
Memories of winter beneath a bluer sky heralds the advent of spring

She sits by the edge of the sea
Let the sea water inundates the shore and her legs
Cold and brushing
Heart splitting
As they are defrosted tears from the past
Only loneliness remains
Still looking out the sea for a happy return
But love lost in the sea will never be found
Listen
The sea is telling the truth
Up and down, up and down
Flush flush flush
Whatever is gone, is gone forever

It’s the flow that energizes;
from brain to paper though it changes
from sparking though to inky pools;
emanations upon the page like,
fresh blood from a wound.
I bleed words...
rhyming, redundant, mystical,
metaphorical; imagery drawn
upon a blank canvas.
I have no choice, you see;
it comes and inundates my brain,
overflowing the grey cells with passion’s
bliss, I pour...
Inspiration from nature’s very soul;
the world is a painting,
waiting to be revealed;
transcending the womb,
to wing its way to the page;
a butterfly upon its way.
My pen bleeds the soul
of eternal secrets;
it is the magic wand and
I am a channel,
for the universe...
I pour.

Warm static pours,
inundates my being;
light of love,
Omniscience.
One with the All;
swimming in the void.
Consciousness I am;
a cosmic seed.
I feel everything, everyone;
everything, everyone is me.
Just a speck in the ether’s;
sliver of something greater than myself;
I am a lesser god particle.
Then, I remember I have a mortal body
and fall from grace,
straight into the clay.

Seagulls gliding o'er the pier,
Their raucous cries caught in the wind.
They duck and dive without fear,
To snatch a fish as they descend,
While anglers to their lines attend.
The pungent essence of the sea,
Inundates the atmosphere,
And sand kicked up by briny breeze,
Stings and causes eyes to tear,
But sun is shining and sky is clear.
A pelican roosts on a wooden post,
Napping lazily in the sun,
While children collect shells and boast,
Of which of them found the prettiest one.
A perfect day for having fun.

Paper’s blank stare
haunting
frigid winter breeze
mocking
musings warm notions
memories
revelries and illusory
moments
haunting scenes hues
vignettes
an ineffable sacred
history
inundates overcomes my
senses
false fashions these
delusions
evocative and sublime
beguiling
vacated slowly razed
gutted
cast asunder aside
irretrievable
taunting lovely ideas
recede
languish and diminish
weaken
lovely ideas influence
eviscerated
tomb of unmistakable
oblivion.
