Premium Member Sylvia's Flower Garden

Musky fragrance inundates
my nostrils as I enter
the garden center:
a rhapsodic feeling
in idyllic surroundings.
The air is humid
like an Amazon garden,
heat barely tolerable
making my glasses misty.
Soft music, dulcet and sweet,
swamp the amazing conservatory. The caterpillar had shed off its chrysalis,
and a perfect swallowtail butterfly appears.
It fluttered here and there
tasting the marvelous flowers around.
My cup of felicity abounds.

All around a miscellany of colors
enticing the radiant buyer with anything
that catches his fancy,
and I, mad about plants,
run in frenzy
from pot to pot,
stand to stand,
plot to plot,
inflame my smell nerves
with sweet sapphire orchids,
enchant my eyes with
white bearded irises,
become delirious with
a blood red amaryllis,
inhale the fragrance
of a white gardenia,
or lose my mind
on a black eyed Susan.
Which exotic plant must I choose?
It would be my talisman for my home

What shall I buy?
A red pyramid astilbe,
multi-coloured plethora of petunias or
scented forget-me-nots?
Or better still a dwarf
Deep red rose?

I feel my empty pockets,
I let out an ephemeral sigh,
and go back home,
empty handed alas.

Premium Member Breath of the Trees

Breath of the trees, invigorate me;
Negative ions, oxygenate
and I am refreshed.

Song of the trees,
lull me to sleep;
soft on my ears,
you send me sweet dreams.

Faces of the trees,
your beauty mesmerizes;
enchants my imagination.

Fruits of the trees,
nourish my body;
fortify my life with your sustenance.

Wood of the trees,
you gave me a home;
self-sacrifice is noble;
you never complained but,
accepted your fate.

Beauty of the trees,
your magic speaks to me;
shimmering emeralds of the woods;
your splendor inundates my spirit with joy.

Never stop your breath;
you make this world a better place;
your gifts, the most precious
of all jewels.

Premium Member A Speck In the Ethers

Warm static pours,
inundates my being;
light of love,
Omniscience.

One with the All;
swimming in the void.
Consciousness I am;
a cosmic seed.

I feel everything, everyone;
everything, everyone is me.
Just a speck in the ether’s;
sliver of something greater than myself;
I am a lesser god particle.
Then, I remember I have a mortal body
and fall from grace,
straight into the clay.

Smells of frosty cold.

The Cloud of Witnesses

One can almost hear them whispering,
knowing they are linked to us
and more intense than memory
they cannot stay within their tombs,
for by some sort of grace not understood
we lack the power to leave them
to their faded history.

How many meadows set away
accommodate the dead,
accommodate this surging love
that inundates our days?
How may we take into our hearts
the light these spirits share,
their passion to reach out to us,
to let us know their world and ours
is one?

I think it may be up to us
to seize this holy joy, remembering
there is no separation, only change.
Remembering the presence
always known before
when oceans intervened.

And what of science and of doubt?
What of the white-stolled priest
and of his vial of dust?
What of my quailing faith?
The stars crash down around me.
The trembling mountain that I did not see
now looms before me, shaking me.
Shall I become the one
to turn away?

Premium Member Purposes Incomprehensible and Wonderful As These Purposes

Imperfect world, purposeless person.
I retired to pursue perfection
learn jazz tunes, woody and herbaceous plants,
read every inch of English literature,

Scientific American and Foreign Affairs,
have an affair with an American.
Oh, and by the way, before you ask, I'm from Mars.
Orbiting your planet, admiring the girls.

Paraphrasing prayers by George Herbert to share
with Jesus believers on talk radio shows
where we try to bring your lives into expressible states
before it’s too late and climate change inundates you.

Reversed thunder, savior-side-piercing spear,
one day you’re feeling fine, the next not.
We’re pretty matter of fact, clear about
the fact of death. Once you’re gone most of us forget

your face and previous accomplishments. The place
you lived is repopulated with the next generation (of aliens)
and that ought to be a comfort, a sort of restful
certainty all is well, nothing special need be done.

Bluebirds are back, crows are mating on the sky
and chasing hawks away from their nests. Juncos
and sparrows glean together. I hear pileated woodpeckers
jackhammering and barred owls hooting soothingly.

Herons smoothing feathers and spearing fish.
Everything is as one would wish.
Numberless are the world's wonders
but none more wonderful than aliens.

All We Have Is Hope

I can feel the freezing fright and fear rattling in the marrow of my bones;
It immerses me.
I can feel the vexing uncertainty shrouding me like a black cloud;
It swallows me.
I can feel the baleful worry surrounding me like a pack of ravenous wolves;
It encircles me.
I can feel the awful dread welling and swelling up in me like a violent maelstrom;
It envelops me.
I can feel the cumbersome woe strangling me like a constricting python;
It entangles me.
I can feel the taxing stress crashing and breaking like tsunami waves on the shores of my mind;
It besets me.
I can feel the agonizing anguish beating my beleaguered soul to a bloody pulp;
It besieges me.
I can feel the terrible torment fomenting an emotional breakdown and upheaval;
It encompasses me.
I can feel the perplexing pain plaguing my heart with rancorous delight;
It inundates me.
I can feel the damnable distress torture every fiber of my being;
It binds me.
But I can also feel the wondrous spirit of Hope rising inside me like a spring of faith;
It strengthens me.

I Gently Sigh - a Collaboration With Paul Callus

~I gently Sigh ~

With half-closed eyes I lie supine,
relishing the feel of soft green grass
against my cool warm skin;
the wind comes whispering
through the rustling swaying corn
caressing my body with arousing touch.
I yield...to his subtle sensual words...
he reads my thoughts...he knows me well;
I yield...as my nimble fingers stray
to trace my parted lips...I gently sigh.
With intense eyes, he inundates my soul
my body begs for his gratifying touch
molten desires are ready to be released
his naked Love breathes with sensuality
I shiver with the elation of intimacy;
he leaves a MARK on my heart...
The wind whispers and...I gently sigh.

A Christmas Tree

This Christmas I want to be,
The symbol of a Christmas tree.
The symbol of love, hope and goodness,
As the past years have been full of darkness.

This Christmas I want to be,
The joy brought by a Christmas tree.
The joy that fills the emptiness and pain,
The joy that saturates the exosphere as rain.

This Christmas I want to be
The togetherness brought by a Christmas tree.
The unity that knits families together,
And the bond that keeps families stronger,

This Christmas I want to be,
The smile brought by a Christmas tree,
The smile that radiates people’s faces,
And inundates families and different races.

This Christmas what will you be?
I hope you can also choose to be something to me.
Be to someone a Christmas tree,
And at least this Christmas, let’s fill people with much glee.

This Christmas I want to be,
The salvation of a Christmas tree.
The birth of a sacred virgin’s child,
As the future savior so meek and mild.

This Christmas I want to be,
The optimism of a Christmas tree,
Putting all the bad things behind us,
We can look forward to a future were love will always find us.

This Christmas I want you to be,
The special thing you will like to give to me.
Be the gift and the nicely adorned treasure,
That can surprise my heart without measure.

Premium Member Whenever Morticia Speaks French

Gomez Addams has a very eccentric life.
He has an unusual woman named Morticia for his wife.
Gomez has mannerisms that seem rather mild.
However, when Morticia speaks French, it drives him wild.
He grabs her arm and starts kissing away.
That’s what he does to her if she happens to say:
Bonjour, Au Revoir, C’est La Vie, even Soup du jour.*
Gomez inundates Morticia with kisses and more.
We can say this couple has a life far from bleak.
I used to tune in and watch them each week.

*Bonjour=good morning or good day.
Au Revoir=farewell or goodbye
C’est la Vie=That’s life
Soup du jour=soup of the day.

Illegal Dying

Illegal Dying

On pursuit of greed
On pursuit of fame-
Gambling with precious life
Is no longer funny play.
We don’t guard ourselves
Marmon broke all bounds
Greed, flood gates opened
There’s a deluge
That inundates humanity.
We’re bait in water
Thrown by bungee jump
Into the deeper end
To bait wealth
With a piece meal
From our gullible hearts.
At breakneck speed
We travel, we pine
Barriers on the fiery way
Crumble under foot
That plods with might
Pulverising conscience
Under its deadly stride.
Expediency and experiment
Replace care and kindness
Egotism and hubris
Is a reflection on the mirror
To which we smile
Gloat and graciously spruce
With drab appetite.
We look to another
With an eye that talks
Questioning neighbour
How the hell he did it...
We don’t compliment
We enjoy commiserating
Dirges are our sweet songs
That titillates our hearts
Hymns are a discord
That is so insufferable.
Compassion out of windows
Is flung like a thief-
With a thud it lands
And held hostage
By angels of uncertainty.

Life's Party

What a party I’ve been having
Ever since my friends have come to live with me

Wisdom is the first one to rise and says “The party is over here”
Understanding inundates us with party rules as we get higher and higher
Peace makes sure that we’re all in harmony
Joy plays the music
Gladness brightens all of our faces
Wealth and Riches has enlarged my territory
So when more friends come I can just add on more and more rooms
Love is so generous He just keep serving us the Bread of Life

Now if you believe that my friends and I party every day
You’re welcome to stop by
You're welcome to stay

Antithesis

In May, the lion’s ear blooms immaculately,
As if the night sky is on fire.
It excretes a ravishing untarnished beauty,
A mesmerizing compelling beauty
Only the mad mystics and poets can discern.
Here, put on these rubber sandals;
The pair with the ostrich plumes,
For the walkway to my hidden tower is replete,
With thorns, bristles and stickers; the ladder there
Has splinters that anesthetize one’s toes,
Your plump white toes with the crimson polish,
Applied there like bloody footsteps on murderous floors.
There is nothing we can do to offset the numbing,
Except, pretend we never met or kissed that time,
When we decided to dare the gods of crescendoing passion.
I remember you decided unilaterally
To disrobe inside my ‘72 Land Yacht,
For fear of eternally disappointing me.
“Here, take my hat and cover yourself.”
Indeed, you are the antithesis of me.
But now, let us walk to my high garlanded tower,
A mile and a quarter from here,
Where we will sit naked on velvet carpet,
And rub thumbs in the candle light,
As Debussy music inundates our sated senses,
From speakers attached to the walls like bison heads,
Surrounded by insect-slaughtered window panes,
And glass bongs that spew atoms of electric sex.
Relax honey, it’s wonderful you’re so open-minded.
Relax, you will love the interesting insides
Of my tall and comfortable tower, where
We will observe the unfolding continuing tragedies,
Of dire human existence; it will be
Just like reading old newspapers from 1968, black print
Still greasy with unslaughtered fish, complete
With disastrous headlines no one wants to remember. But
We, you and I, will remember them, and weep a little,
When the mad dancing inevitably commences,
Here, inside and beside our grinding bodies.
Look over there, honey.
Do you see the lion’s ear blooming immaculately?
Do you hear their soft cries whimpering in the night,
Like virgin lovers squealing in the darkness?
Yes honey, we can hear their invisible sighs and moans,
From the top of my high
And comfortable tower.
