The Informed Voter

Oxymoron of the day: Politically Correct

“Hi, I’m Carl Palmer and I approve of this poem.”

The Informed Voter

Donald Trump called, knew my name,
called me Carl, left a message, I wasn’t home.
Hillary Clinton called, knew my name, called
me Carl, left a message, I wasn’t home, darn.

Excited that so many candidates want my vote
who sent me mail, filled my box, I read it all.
Thrilled my yard is decorated with free signs
from both democrat and that other party as well.

Befuddled am I by the newspaper articles and letters
to the editor changing my mind over and again,
confused by the television ad contradicting the
commercial just aired by the opposing opponent.

Tediously taking notes while listening to talk radio
refuting facts from previous pundits interrupted
by my ever ringing doorbell announcing another
concerned citizen soliciting suggested suffrage.

Today is Monday, I still don’t know how I’ll vote,
who best represents my interests, cares about me.
I’m just thankful that tomorrow it’ll all be over
at least until Wednesday when the recounts begin.

Premium MemberReynolds Phrasis Informed By a Whisper - Recited

INFORMED BY A WHISPER
Enveloped in the mysterious
viewed indistinctly as through
a mist,waiting the call.The
inspiration of genius to be
invoked by success,wild freedom
and liberty of imagination informed
by a whisper, unconscious of the
operation of the mind,left as
a legacy from this tenancy of
life.To separate that which is
true from only the plausible,
caution and circumspection is
discarded by genius and taste.

A phrasis from Joshua Reynolds discourses
*A Phrasis is a structured verse where the poet uses selected prose phrases of another writer’s(not a poet) to compile unique poetry therefrom as a tribute thereto, the word phrasis is Greek for phrase.

Family Informed

A sheet of paper; a telephone call
Family informed.

Breaking news; MOD confirms
Family informed.

Anonymity uncovered; soldier named
Family informed.

One happy life ends, a sad one begins:
Family deformed.

An old room is emptied, a new grave now filled:
Family deformed.

A soul rests in peace; a parent, the spectre of torment:
Family deformed.

Family informed:
Casual: rather matter of fact, indeed.

Family deformed:
Reality: the fact of the matter, in deed!

The Informed

We are informed before birth
Yet we all stray the dark roads
Playing Russian roulette with our very souls

We are informed of the consequences
How ever this world can seem to have no fences to not cross
And we must rely on our own common senses to not suffer any loss

We are informed by our maker
Of a dark soul taker
That will try to corrupt us with every lie
As we wait here confined to the earth
To draw our last breath and die
