Premium MemberSunday Returns

Decadent ice cream sundae afternoon,
you let me come undone and melt slowly.
Licking the delicate parts of the spoon
I’m immersed in the taste of strawberry.
Sunday returns and is devoured so soon,
there’s no time to jot down the recipe.
Relax and enjoy the sweetest moment
and worry not on the calories spent.

Beyond Bereft

If you go to my neighborhood thrift shop,
You just might come across
Five ice cream sundae dishes
And two mugs; if not, your loss.

See, I’m very slowly sweeping
Things that I don’t use away,
Though I often must remind myself
Why items needn’t stay.

In L.A.’s recent fires,
People found out in a flash
That they had to leave; their homes
And all their stuff reduced to ash.

I think of them as I decide
What I should keep or ditch,
Knowing that so many there
Were left without a stitch.

And as I agonize about
The trove I still have left,
I’m sure that those who’ve lost it all
Must be beyond bereft.

Premium MemberFeeling Cranky In Summer

Why do I feel cranky in summer?
Everyone’s living, I'm not.
Burdened by cares, I can't set free
It's so darn hot!
It stifles the joys.
It forces me indoors.
The air is thick, it weighs me down.
My cheer is shortchanged, curtailed.
As summer days drag on and on,
The sun beats down, relentless, so strong,
The air is thick syrupy and heavy,
Unlike my patience, which is worn down to thread-bare thin.
Tiny things annoy me, it's like I can't ever win.
The bees buzz around inside my head endlessly.
Mosquitoes buzz around my ears relentlessly,
I swing, I swat, I slap, I stomp my feet, cry.
I'm spoiling for an impossible fight with an insect!
Which I know I can never win; why do I try?
In sweat-soaked clothes my temper flares!
When will this nightmare end?
It did, I had an ice-cream sundae with nuts!

Premium MemberA Yummy Sundae Afternoon

A Yummy Sundae Afternoon
My tongue anticipates ice cream sundae
But do never indulge on a Monday
For that's the day the diet starts afore
Tuesday when diets fly out through the door.

I drool o'er yummy ice cream on my tongue
Thoughts of the tasty dish makes me so long
For strawberries served at afternoon tea
In a gooey knickerbocker glory.

With chopped nuts sprinkled and strawberry sauce
Those ice cream sundaes could win an award
With me they would be scored top of the pops
I am an expert as I devour lots.

Summer parties do well serving ice cream
Strawberries and chilled wine, truly a dream
With music, dancing, a natter and fun
Bringing magic moments beneath the sun.

Betwixt lucky lips my eager tongue licks
A mouth watering afternoon dish fix.

Ice cream sundae
on our steamy honeymoon

Strawberries on top
Hell! we don’t need no spoon
Shared between our Tongues
salves those shrivelled prunes
God! she’s one sweet Dish
and it’s still only Afternoon

I scream Sunday!
on this torrid day in June

Premium MemberIce Cream Gran

My old gran had an ice cream van
And a bright green cape and a madcap plan
She’s out to save her fellow man
And with her walking frame, she can

Each night she prowls the felon’s range
Disturbing owls and foxes
She takes the van so she can change
For there are no phone boxes

She parks up at the end of night
And hobbles home by day’s first light
Today she caught a mugger’s sight
Who mocked my Gran’s heroic fight

‘Fighting crime is not a game
You’re just some soppy, daft old, dame
You’re leaning on that walking frame
To get some place or other.

‘Without your cape you’ve no disguise
Without your mask over your eyes
It might be wise to realise
You’re just some kid’s grandmother.’

Grandma raised her walking frame
Toward from where the voice had came
She asked the thug, ‘Have you no shame?’
And with her walking frame, took aim

One leg sprayed out chocolate sauce
Another leg sprayed sprinkles
Then Grandma pressed a button
And her van played tuneful tinkles

She gave the thug a wily grin
‘You’ll get the slammer some day
But today I’ve turned you in…
to an ice cream sundae.’

Premium MemberSpoilt Tee

Spoilt Tee lingered in the house for three days
trying not to notice the bodies
of the people he had murdered

It was their own fault
they should not have made him mad
the stench was bad, but he had nowhere else to go

His mommy and daddy had always taken care of him
they were lying around seeping and smelling doing nothing
he wished he could wake them up and kill them all over again.

Who was going to fix his lunch? who was going to pay the bills?
He had not learned any of that, and it was their fault
All they did was bail him out of jail
and make excuses for his behaviors.
It was all they were good for when they were alive.

Now they were good for nothing.
Spoilt Tee kicked his father in the groin as he walked past.
Get up! He yelled at the corpse. I want some lunch!
I want to go to McDonald’s! I want to get an ice cream sundae!
I am hungry!

No Dessert With a Broken Wrist

I can’t believe today that I broke my wrist!
And I can’t push the button for the cream that’s whipped
How am I to eat an ice cream sundae?
Without that white topping that brings it thunder
And what am I to do when I want some jello?
Cause on top of that dessert whip cream is stellar
Oh woe is me now that I broke my wrist!
I can’t get the cap off since it needs a twist
Maybe I can borrow you for this?
Then together we can dream of ice cream bliss

What's Not To Like

A strawberry ice cream sundae
Is perfect for lunch on Monday
Some soda jerks
Give it the works
Just to make your day a fun day

A Knickerbocker Glory Please

A Knickerbocker Glory please
Was always his reply
He loved this ice cream sundae
Waited patiently as it was made
He loved the cream
He loved the fruit
He loved the sprinkles too
but his favourite was the cherry
perched on top ~ bright red and new
He carefully ate around it
taking only from the side
At times it would get buried
and sometimes it would hide
But on this day
this fateful day
faster than the speed of light
a seagull swooped
gave out a shriek
and snatched the cherry
with his vicious beak
Swallowed in one
the evil deed done

The moral of this story
to eat a Knickerbocker Glory
is to eat your cherry first
now his target it has gone
So that pesky greedy seagull
is now likely to move on
There is really nothing worse
than to fly into a glass headfirst
your head will be stuck fast
your last breathe will be a gasp
suffocation ~ asphyxiation
death by Knickerbocker Glory
now that would be a gory story...

Written 25th August 2019 after witnessing a rather similar scenario as a man was fighting off marauding seagulls, whilst trying to eat his KBG, haha...

Revenge of Broken Promises

Fades strong air away
Nose counts memories
It's an ice-cream sundae
Normally full of calories
Hope that's hiding itself
Resistance of sorrows
Woos that very thief
Clinging new morrows.
Virus that itself clones
Loves its own antidotes.
Melody of seven strings
Just a joining of rings.
A broken sole fellow
Searches for the hollow
Touching every wounds
Those are not healing
That desired sounds
Me and you counting
Feeling of togetherness
In eternity encompasses.

Mere-Or

It’s another school day and it’s another panic attack
I see my old best friends nails digging in her boyfriend’s back
Recalling bathroom braids and kitchen raids
Experimental aide, sharing shitty grades
Now she’s trying hard to look great
Even though I’d love her all the same
Without that stupid fake **** on her face
her childhood lips are caught in a mid-ice cream sundae
My body sits across and there goes a decade

My will decays
The more I think

It’s another Saturday and more heavy make out sessions
I hold a plastic knife to my throat
And play pretend just to get a reaction
You wrapped my arm
You said my name
More false alarms
Then walked away
And that pissed me off
There’s no one else to blame

I will decay
The more i’m awake

Whats In a Name

He served me up an ice cream sundae on a trey,
with only one cherry on top to my dismay,
instead asked the maitre dee for a parfait,
he said roger that I'll bring it back with no delay,

And while at the cafe I overheard a lady saying she wanted to sue,
angry about the dry cleaners ruining her rose suit,
I just went about my way the story getting harry,
next thing I knew my boyfriend asked me to mary me,

We ended up getting married on a summer's eve,
but my new husbands colin burst when he let out a sneeze,
using a philips screwdriver that was up my sleeve,
we put it back now intact with one les bill to grieve,

Then later I managed to get stuck in the john,
my husband jimmied the lock and I was gone,
soon things started to get back to newlywed norm,
each day waking up for our jobs at the break of dawn,

Afterwards for 9 months ate nothing but pickles and candy,
suddenly I felt my luke warm water break which was jim dandy,
now baby makes three which means more to cary,
along with our pet tomcat whom we named scaredy.

Premium MemberOne Disastrous Dessert - For Contest

One ice cream sundae
Swirled with whipped cream and a cherry on the top
Sitting temptingly in a tall glass
But you were out of reach
I could see you through the window of the restaurant
Melting away in front of my eyes
Like your life was ebbing away from you
With creamy liquid tears running down the side of the glass
Over time the cherry sank deeper into the velvety fluid
Until it disappeared into the thick goo
It’s blushing red cheek barely visible at the bottom of the goblet ...
