A Knickerbocker Glory Please

A Knickerbocker Glory please Was always his reply He loved this ice cream sundae Waited patiently as it was made He loved the cream He loved the fruit He loved the sprinkles too but his favourite was the cherry perched on top ~ bright red and new He carefully ate around it taking only from the side At times it would get buried and sometimes it would hide But on this day this fateful day faster than the speed of light a seagull swooped gave out a shriek and snatched the cherry with his vicious beak Swallowed in one the evil deed done The moral of this story to eat a Knickerbocker Glory is to eat your cherry first now his target it has gone So that pesky greedy seagull is now likely to move on There is really nothing worse than to fly into a glass headfirst your head will be stuck fast your last breathe will be a gasp suffocation ~ asphyxiation death by Knickerbocker Glory now that would be a gory story... Written 25th August 2019 after witnessing a rather similar scenario as a man was fighting off marauding seagulls, whilst trying to eat his KBG, haha... Ann, hope that seagull choked on the cherry pit! But there's a life lesson here - don't save the best bite for last when surrounded by predators! "Knickerbocker Glory" is unfamiliar to my Yank ears, but it sounds heavenly! Loved the smile, thanks for the share, and congrats on your top win today! Hugs ~ John

Hello John thank you so much for your great comments; they made me smile! A Knickerbocker Glory is a fruit sundae made in a tall glass that has ice cream, fruit, whipped cream with a cherry on the top. My husband used to love them as a child and I was thinking of him when I wrote my little bit of nonsense. Also the seagulls here have no fear so I never eat anything on the seafront, for they swoop down and it is gone before you have time to say ' knickerbocker glory, haha... With kindest thoughts Ann xx

Rather good piece Ann, brings back memories of holiday in Llandudno years ago when eating a sandwich roll, just about to put it to my mouth and a seagull came and took it out of my hand. Dangerous creatures indeed!

Yes they certainly are Gordon, and they are just the same in Eastbourne, many a time I have witnessed this scenario and the herring gulls are such large birds with very long sharp beaks, so to have one so close to your face is very scary indeed. Lovely to hear from you Gordon and I hope you are enjoying the marvelous weather too. With kindest thoughts Ann xx
