There.
third row, second seat
hair over eyes, red-rimmed
tired maybe?
shirt buttoned wrong
laces untied
broken hearted
last row, right at the back
a young couple
giggling
not watching
love
how long will it last
the movie starts
theatre darkens
eyes front
focused on the screen
engrossed, distracted
popcorn, drinks, spilt
front row
now on the floor
children
necks tilted up
vibrating in excitement
can't look away
middle aisle
near the exit
new parents
on the edge of their seat
waiting for the call
desperate for a night off
movie ends
lights rise
people stand, stretch
slowly trickle out
leaving behind spilt drinks, popcorn
the floor a mosaic of people
netflix
stan
prime
hulu
peacock
disney
empty now
darkness lingers
screen unused
velvet seats grow dusty
stale popcorn permeates
I am empty now
No one there.
Inspired by John 3:16 and Luke 11:2-4 from "Da Jesus Book, Hawaii Pidgen, New Testament"
God wen got so plenny an aloha fo da peopo inside da world wood hav dis prayer fo us:
“My chillin
Who hav aloha fo da Great Modda Earth,

Sacred are da souls of evabody who are My creation.

Fo I provide all good kine stuff fo you.
Fo I give you food fo today an evaday.
Let go all da shame an all da bad kine stuff you do to yo brudda.

Many times I’ll watch a show,
Enough to say I’d binge.
Gone away, my mind will go,
And slowly off the hinge.
Watch enough, the show will lend,
An accent to my voice.
What that is, it will depend,
Upon my viewing choice.
Southern drawl or British twang,
Perhaps a little latin.
Simulating mobster slang,
Like I’m from Manhattan.
When I drive, I double take,
At what could be revealed.
Dragons flying by a lake,
Or zombies in a field.
Doctor shows make me believe,
That I should be one too.
Conversations interweave,
A surgeons point of view.
So I have to rearrange,
My mind to what I know.
For my brain can often change,
When binging on a show.
There was a gal known for the Hula hoop
Until one day, she fell in some dog poop
So she went on a dog strike
Dog rep said, “go take a hike.”
She said, “Have you all heard of a poop scoop?”
*I was inspired by Jan. I've seen several of her poems with this theme. And I decided to give it a go. Enjoy:-)
