For a man of my age, I should no longer dream
Of pretty young fillies, quite naughty it seems
But we don't lose the joy to gawk and to stare
When the sweet scent of female fills up the air
Sure hope I don't lose it, this wonderful feeling
While sneakily snatching looks that I am stealing
Girls are aware of the scene they're creating
Of many great memories this sight is relating
The happiest times when we all were much younger
These precious memories haven't lost their thunder
When seeing an old codger hardly able to walk
Still straining his eyes, to stare and to gawk
That primordial instinct is never far away
It still hangs around till our very last day
So all my buckaroonies please do take heart
At one hundred years old it can still joy impart
Trust me I'm honest as the day is long
Life still keeps singing its same old sweet song
Obsessed... I guess you could say that I am
Gonna keep on a-gawking for as long as I can
I'm quite a bit of a devil I am
Born with a big smirk on my kisser
But don't ever take me at face value
You can trust me like my sister
I'm honest as the day is long
You can trust me with your daughter
Well scratch that last one
Maybe you should take care you oughter
Guess I should knock this stuff off
Close to ninety I am I am
Not as agile like when I was sixty-four
Sometimes walk into door jambes
Well how about this dear friends
Marathons are still a possibility
Need a walker for the last mile or so
Still not beyond my capability
Well all in all still hanging in there
A model of sustainability I am
Hope to make it to a hundred or so
So far don't belong in a mausoleum
I'm as honest as the day is long which means
I'm more honest during the longer days of summer
So if I tell you something in the winter
Take it with a grain of salt
There's a good chance I'm hoodwinking you
If you ask me directly, of course I will lie
In the middle of the summertime
I'll be forced to divulge all my past exploits in lurid detail
For I am unable to tell a lie
In the spring and fall it's a fifty-fifty proposition
Maybe I'm lying, maybe I'm not!
Have I totally confused you?
I need to go lie down!

With my tongue planted firmly in my cheek...
We certainly can't all be movie stars
Who'd be left to go to the show
I don't mind being the one to sacrifice
It's not about the big heaps of dough
Yes, the sacrifice would be a mighty one
But I'm prepared for life as a star
Maintaining my charm and humbleness
Which will certainly take me far
I'd live in a mansion in Beverly Hills
But I wouldn't forget my roots
You people could visit me any old time
It certainly won't cost you much loot
Normally I'd charge an arm and a leg
But for you folks it'd just be an arm
What the hey, you've got more than one
No reason to get so alarmed
It would go to a very worthy cause
To provide me with the life I deserve
For entertaining all you very sweet folks
You think I'm throwing you a curve?
How could you think so badly of me
When have I lied to you before?
I'm as straight and honest as the day is long
You've hurt me to the very core
Okay, okay, I must come clean
I'm yanking your chain a wee bit
The reason I've decided to do this for you
So you'll remember when I'm a big hit

CHAINS
1940s
“Joe’s”
“Good food”
The sign says
Hole in the wall
All you can call it
Joe and Ethyl – owners
Honest as the day is long
Just plain folks and nothing fancy
Never make the show on Iron Chef
Just looking back this modern day and age
NOW
Chains
Yes chains!
Big city
Bit city chains
And modern people
Honest folk all in chains
The chains have run all Joes out
We all clank like Jacob Marley
While the rich eat at the country club
And not at chains – Joes are gone forever
