Mother, I Adore

From the dawn of my life to this day there is only one,
From the moment my birth our eyes met our love had begun,
From the depths of heart her gentle love does give never done,
No matter how far I fall how high I fly I'm her son,

Over my young years as I learned to be a man and then,
With music and art given and nurtured I found my voice,
Blessed I was watching her play ignite the song within,
Guiding my hands upon the keys my heart could now rejoice,

Though there was a time where I lost her ear never her heart's love,
Though she hoped one day I'd return with love a gentle dove,
When I reached out she burst with joy no one could push or shove,
When she reached back my tears were shed our love like hand in glove,

No woman on earth who loves me as she does no other,
On this day I want to say I'm grateful for my mother.

You are no longer here, but live on in me.
You who stood up for everyone, so fearless
were you!
Like George Bernard Shaw, who said:
" You  see things the way they are,
   and say, why?
But I dream things that never were!
   And I ask why not?

It was you, Mother who created the fearless
soul in me!
Becoming a poet who asks questions of
life, poetry and reality, with fearless audacity!

Love evermore,

Mother's Day

It's Mother's Day
from the heart.
Cook a cookie,
bake a tart.

Don't forget
to make a card.
Just get it done -
it's not that hard.

Don't make her clean
the kitchen floor
or make her from
the pitcher pour

the lemonade.
You have to do
all of the work.
Face it - it's true.

Mothers' Day Traffic

Add rain and roads and Mothers' Day
And multiply by stress.
Subtract the patience you have left
And marvel at the mess.

Then inch along and make a vow
That next year you will stay
At home and do a Face-Time call
To celebrate the day.

Hello Mom

HELLO MOM!

Children look into your eyes,
Savor the sound of your voice.
They cherish your every touch,
It makes a mother's heart rejoice.

Behemoth monsters on the bench,
Professional football is their game.
They turn to face the camera,
"Hello Mom" are the only words that came.

Men are what their mother's made them,
Smothered in love right from the womb.
The future of society is in her hands,
From the cradle to the tomb.

I think a law is overdue,
That the virtues of mothers must be told.
Each child who enters this earthly world,
Must tell the story until he is old.

A father might turn his back,
Leaving his children to endure.
But a mother's love lives through it all,
Her children's future to secure.

Even He who died upon the cross,
Looked down on all who were there.
He said, "Behold Your Mother",
It was His final prayer.

We pray this Mother's Day be a blessing,
May your children honor you.
Praise God and His Holy Mother,
It is the thing to do.

Here's a special wish
to all you mothers out there:
Happy Mothers Day!

Mothers' Day

Mothers should be celebrated
Every single day,
But instead it’s once a year –
Well, what is there to say?

You enter into parenthood
And do what you must do.
Quite often, in a family,
The mothers are the glue.

We hold it all together
With a little help from dad;
And wonder, when our kids grow up
What life they’ll think they had.

Psychologists assign us blame.
We must be trauma’s cause;
But hopefully, with age, such thoughts
Will give our children pause.

Perhaps they’ll somehow understand
The depth of how we feel
And recognize a mother’s love
Is bottomless and real.

It’s lovely to receive a card,
Store-bought or made by hand,
‘Cause it acknowledges that sometimes
Things work out as planned.

And, in addition, if you got
To see your kids today,
Appreciate the fact
Good fortune held you in its sway.

Mothers’ Day will soon be gone
Yet if you are in luck,
That glue that you set long ago
Will still be strongly stuck.

The calendar records the time,
One day like any other;
You do not need a holiday
To reach out to your mother.

For she is always there for you
When life gets tough or hard;
Her blood is flowing in your veins –
She needs no gift or card.

Happy Mothers Day

How you've done it I'll never know
You loved me before my feet ever touched the floor
Raised and supported me in the battle of life
And still taught me simple things like flying a kite

You read me stories when i couldn't sleep
And taught me the strategy of counting sheep
Rubbed my back whenever i was sick
Held me close when the the path got thick

I remember all the smiles we shared
and how when i cried you was always there
You loved me even when i was bad
And in return i hope to make you glad

You've been my teacher and my mother for so long
Teaching me that a right does not equal two wrongs
My mother and teacher you will always be
And forever and ever you'll be dear to me

Mothers' Day Thoughts

Pick out the flowers – pay through the nose;
Vendors take all they can get, I suppose.
Treat her to dinner, give her a kiss;
Mothers have waited all year just for this.

If she lives distant, pick up the phone;
Tell her how much all the kiddies have grown.
Mail her a package, pick out a card;
Then you’ll be covered in that whole regard.

Yes, it’s all hokey and silly and trite;
Still, not to do it just wouldn’t feel right.
This is the day we must all celebrate;
Tomorrow won’t cut it - you can’t do it late.

If you’re a mom, then enjoy all the fluff,
Though really, it never could be quite enough.
All of our efforts, while often ignored,
Have taught us that motherhood is our reward.

Oh Mother

Mother I love you, come close allow me to hug you
from your womb I came you embraced me as you
whispered my name,I love you,you were the first
woman to say my name with love while thanking
the lord above for giving you a baby and shedding
his love from above,my love, your motherly with heavenly
touch oh how I love you so much,I appreciate your
knowledge after doing wrong I hope you will live long to
guide me along mom I promise I will help you stand strong
when you get old,I will fold your sheets and help you eat
and rub your feet as you sit on your rocking seat
I will even read you the bible before you sleep, Oh mother
oh beautiful mother,at this present time you are young and
I am to thank you for all the things that you do thank you
happy mothers day ok.

To My Grandmother On Mothers Day

When I think about growing old some day
I smile because I think of you.
Of all the loving words you say
And the generous things you do.

I think of all the “I love You’s” you must have said
And all the hugs and kisses you have given.
Of all the hungry tummies you’ve fed
And about all the hearts you’ve been in.

I think of how lucky you were to live a life
Filled to the brim with flowers and love.
To be a doting mother and the most loving wife,
To be what so many warm memories are made of.

I imagine the bitter sweet joy of watching my own
Grow into more than I could have ever hoped for.
And to be so blessed by the oats I have sewn
To watch my family’s love grow even more.

To be there when my own babies have babies
Like once again holding my own children close.
To be surrounded by so much affection and peace
I love that even after all these years, your love only grows.

So, thanks to you, I look forward to every birthday.
I try not to be too sad about how big my little ones are getting.
Because I know how many “I Love You’s” I get to hear and say
And thanks to you, I know how much I’ll enjoy remembering.

Mama

I did not stop to tell you
I didn’t even try
I did not think about it
I’m not real sure why

You are always there for me
And yet this remains
I don’t tell you near enough
That I am just the same

All the things I wanted
In everything I do
I see that I’m a mirror
Reflecting what is you

I should have told you sooner
I could have let you know
I will always love you
Thanks for helping me grow.
