Premium MemberA Fictitious Friend

No pretending,
fences need mending.

A will unbending,
always condescending.

Voices sending,
words seem unending.

Friendship rending,
intent offending.

Friendship depending,
to matters attending.

Lost friend impending
will be heartrending.

Premium MemberThe Departure Or The Loss Of A Darling Spouse

It's heartrending to lose a spouse
A very special woman who shares the house
With your body, your heart and your soul
It's very hard to feel losing your whole
Your being, everything you have
It's utterly sad and strange to feel that five
Of your best fingers are cut and numb
It's inconceivable to feel lost and dumb
For quite a while. Losing a darling spouse
Is like being swamped in a toxic niche
Full of bees and ants. A greedy leech
Has sucked up your blood and your mind
And your brain is not feeling too kind
It's painful to lose a wonderful spouse
Your world has turned upside down
You cannot smile. You cannot frown
Everything is different, even your house
Tears are flowing like a river in the summer
You feel hopeless and helpless. And it's somber.

Within the chapters of life's book,
We live one page at a time
Each page, a memory on which to look
With sad times, and times with a happy chime

Many chapters of family and friends
 For love still echoes there,
Memorable moments, and the joy laughter lends,
and stories of which to share

For some the book is ending,
 For others its just begun
The final chapter can be heartrending,
Fo then, the book is done....

Premium MemberSweet Love Lost

A love was born and rapidly grew,
Each thought it would last forever,
But life offers no guarantees,
And humans often fail endeavors.

What appeared to be the dawn of bliss,
Slowly waned; taken for granted,
The best in life can go amiss,
When roots of trust aren’t deeply planted.

Chanced to meet by the meadow’s lake,
Each gazing into teary eyes,
Knowing keenly what was at stake,
Farewell’s last and heartrending goodbyes.

Slighting his kiss, she ran through the lea,
He called to her; she didn’t answer,
He knew it was his final plea,
His heart sinking as she ran faster.

Nothing hurts more than a sweet love lost,
There’re no words to soften the blow,
Nothing demands a higher cost,
Or overwhelms a soul any more.

On the bank of the Mississippi River
under a cottonwood tree,
watching the river's water flow;
a young man holds a thin hickory
fishing pole in hand,
to be alone with his thoughts,
seeping deep into the delicate,
soothing, murmur of the river.

He came from a poor indigent family.
Life was a bit obtuse for him.
School was boring
and pointless in his mind.
He seemed to most enjoy getting into trouble.

The folks around felt he was always
making egregious blunders.

One astronomical twilight night
he dared his friend
to walk through the consecrate
dilapidated graveyard at midnight.

A stir in the air,
there was movement there.
A void within the eerie luminous cemetery.
There in the open graves,
laid the sacred dead in their beds.

Heartrending moans of the wilderness
somewhere far-off in the wind.
The hours disordered breathing
circulated a redder glow;
hell rising upon the headstones.
A sinking dull feeling fell upon both boys;
down to their knees they stumbled and fell.

Awaking from their delirium
sought to mediate disputes
of what happened the night before.

Strumming Dirge With the Broken String

the lyre appears in the summer night sky
by the foot of Zeus’ throne in the delta region was
once strummed by the hands floating on the Hebrus;

the tune of dirge was heartrending, the pieces of limbs
chopped off and threw into the river playing was so sad;

it touched Zeus’ heart and therefore he ordered the eagle
to lift it up from the river and hang up by his foot though

the appealing lyre’s tune played by Orpheus which drew
tears from the eyes of a cold woman, the goddess of death Persephone,
stop echoing in the sky as the constellation of lyre sunk behind autumn

however, an eagle hovering in the dark
went after the disappeared lyre and strummed it with his sharp talon;
the tune the eagle pecked on the broken strings with his hooked beak
is Orpheus’ anxious call for Eurydice wandering in the pine grove;
the broken string’s painful cry now echoes again in the air
to spread the heartrending story behind the crying lyre

Echoes of a Silent Heart

Subject - Echoes of a silent heart!!

Bottled inside are the wounds never healed
Tears held back, songs without a melody
Words never uttered, thoughts not verbalized
A fire with neither flames nor smoke
Battled against were traumatic and heartrending battles
some won ,some lost
but all the same leaving behind scars
scars which echoed the struggle experienced..
In its silence
my heart yells at the identity crisis going down
A crisis where one has no idea what they are made of or who they really are
Silence is so deep that you hear a terrified voice scared off by the fear of an unknown destiny
From a distance can be heard echoes of a heart saying enough is enough
 Yet its just getting started
The silence is so loud that only a deafened ear can hear it all
different ringing tones are assigned to my heart's mobile
today is the rnb joy of having a dear take care of dear me...tomorrow..the soft melancholic slavery- like obligations which are self imposed of course...this heart pulls overdue strings of pain on a guitar... that wch rilly simply echoes a silent heart

Collateral Damage

I look pleadingly into their eyes
as they pull the last of my fingernails,
The pain is excruciating and I pass out
amid my heartrending screams.

When I come to
I am engulfed in total darkness,
I find myself lying naked, it appears,
in my own blood, sweat and filth.

I try looking around but could see nothing,
I touch gingerly and find my eyes swollen shut,
My nose punched into a bloody pulp,
My lips torn open, all my teeth knocked out.

Jesus, where am I?
What have they done to me?
What do they want of me?
I know nothing, I am just a regular Joe
struggling to raise a family here,
Hoping to live the American dream;
What would I know of
Jihadi cells or terrorist network?

I begin quivering in sheer terror--
Oh God, did they bring me here
just because my name is
M U H A M M A D?

("Rendition" --The practice of sending a terrorist suspect
covertly to be interrogated in a country with less rigorous
regulations for the humane treatment of prisoners.

Onyemaechi

Onyemaechi: A Tribute

My earliest encounters of him was during the war
The war fought in the hinterland of cities and suburbs
Cities and suburbs filled by aborigines and internally displaced persons
Displaced persons mingling in blood and death, bemused, hungry and doing all to survive

To survive the war, they learned and began to do simple uncommon things
Uncommon things, to the uninitiated, heartrending and daring
And daring were his exploits to rescue his own despite the odds
The odds stacked against him in the line of sporadic enemy fires

Enemy fires notwithstanding, he blazed through the blitz attacks
Blitz attacks targeted at uncommon people who started off as ordinary people
Ordinary people who in their distress stood their ground
Created new consciousness, refused to bulge, made fear to be afraid and discouraged discouragement!

My Prayer

Oh! God,
You are the creator of the whole total ours unthinkable universe
Within it a solar system where our world is a part
You have caused infinity soul in to lives from different dimensions
In different forms started the ways by birthing continuation
All are suffering more or less here for uncountable reasons
disease violence killing corruption rap cheating domination
Oh! God, I am not so learned that I can tell all such words
See the heartrending cry of all the helpless soul
Few are helpless they are unable to live life
Few are helpless they try but fail to make the world better
When I see the helpless children, women, patients, victims of violence
and many amongst us, I feel in my heart unseen painful crater
Oh! God,
I pray you to cause good thoughts and loving sensation in all of us
So that we all can love each other as brothers and sisters in this world
And live life peacefully in the human society without any trouble
At last, I pray you to make bright and happy all soul of the world
You can do everything, My Lord, My God, within a second,I know.
Amen

Misfortune

You were always there
Through thick and thin and you knew
But, I stumbled upon guilt…I was poorly built
Thinkin' about you...
I fell in love way too soon
Crushed by misfortune
Satisfaction please?
Unconditional friendship -
Returning the favor happily...
I want to be a cheerful giver instead of a greedy getter!
But, tainted love singed me to the extreme…
Lowering my self-esteem and I just wanna scream
I am so lost!
As low as a puppy left in the streets, whimpering –
What a heartrending scene to imagine…I feel like I’m deteriorating…
Weakening by the hour…the minute…the second
Give me a second chance…please, I beg of you!
I say what’s up to you? And what do you do?
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Say naught…
I’m entangled in this knot
I’ve downright fraught…
You left me to rot
Lay your burdens on me why don’t you!?
You’ll never get my clue . . .
No reply . . .
I am ignored, but I’ve accepted it as normal
Reality can get so cruel – but, I must stand tall
Stand tall, David, you must stand tall and give it your all
Give it your all and try not to fall
Call on Him if you feel like your heart’s in appall
He won’t reject your prayer at all . . .

My Love Story

et me begin the amorous tale of my love
story,
In seven of ages a heartrending pillory,

With maximum make believe of childhood
love,
Cycling after her with no worry,

To the taste of truffles and muffin,
Felt her each wave sweet to savory,

On slide following her with peeping eyes,
Seeking a vivacious look till I touched the
teen glory,

With shorthanded life and full of misery,
Couldn’t even bought a gift or flowery,

But could promise to honor love for life,
And this ain’t false statement of
stipulatory,

At mid of twenty two, with smashing and
evaporating love,
Still remembered cherish liped smile of
amatory,

ory,

And snake of love has now bitten my
heart,
The anti-dote is her smile whether it might
be illusory,

Hence the feelings pining and revolving in
mind,
As gravitation, influence everything
stimulatory,

In cold night with shattering fog and
cracking leaves
Shahid is right here with a flowery and
Sorry.

The Bashing of the Male Species

"Men are horrible,
They are so baaad",
Some women may say,
they are basically crab louses,
that get in their own way,
Yet, there are a few that make good spouses,
family men,
and then, the ones that are masters at pretending,
Very heartrending!
with their lying and cheating,
or indifference,
They send women shrieking trying to excorcise
them with incense,
However, with a little aversion therapy
the most barbaric of men can be tamed,
with a steed and a therapist called Auntie Mame.
