Hard put as *****Sapiens to prove,
Far off left have we oh, home of love.
Lose virtue, watch in vain Sita’s woes,
Jatayu long dead, scarce can we move.

Poet’s note: This is second in the three-piece series on the theme. It depicts what happened in the epic Ramayana. When Sita was abducted by Ravana, Jatayu, the vulture king, challenged him and sacrificed his life. This epigram says we have lost Jatayu in us in this dark age. The original in Gujarati as transliterated (in PS-acceptable way) is as under:
Chalaayu chhej nahi, prem naa gharma javaayu chhej nahi,
Museebat ej chhe, dvaar thi paachhaa valayu chhej nahi,
Dharma ne khoyaa karo, door thi sita-haran joyaa karo,
Biju to thaaye shun, aapani andar Jatayu chhej nahi.

Autumn's crisp, dry leaves crackle underfoot;
adding a crunch to the grandeur of Fall.
Squirrels scamper about as if hard-put
to gather acorns, then bury them all.
Nature crochets a shroud for Summer's death;
using colored leaves that fell from the trees.
And the air holds a chill that frosts your breath;
quickly dispersed by a brisk Autumn breeze.
A kaleidoscope of orange and golds;
add to Fall's ever-changing scenery.
And Autumn's annual pageant unfolds
as Jack Frost gilds all of the greenery.
Yellow, scarlet, vermillion, and cerise;
ink the pathways for the migrating geese.

The edge of a knife
Between hell and heaven
Rode hard, put up wet
At age twenty-seven
‘Twas never in doubt
Inspired, these artists
But those who fly high
Oft crash down the hardest
They wrestled their demons
In public displays
Poor young tortured souls
Awash in the praise
Surreal, making magic
While up on the stage
The young troubadours
For a turbulent age
So much adulation
Could not ease the pain
Right there, in plain sight
They circled the drain
We raise up our heroes
Then cast them aside
No consideration
No one to confide
Twenty-seven’s too young
For exiting doors
But sad though it is,
There’ll be plenty more…

Ridden Hard, Put Up Wet
Worn down landscape
Ridden hard and put up wet over eons of time.
Buttes interspersed with ravines and wadis,
Vast irregular symmetry.
Clumps of purple blue green sage
To have been seen by the riders of olden times.
Clusters scattered randomly.
A patchwork without design
Covering endlessly to the horizon
Intermingled with beef and horse.
The buttes come in irregular waves of shapes and sizes.
Conical breasts sprung up in ridges,
Or sometimes alone at the sky line.
Isolated flat tops
Or long Capetown table mountains;
African ant hill shapes,
Crenulated with skirts of vertical old rivulet stripes.
The overstory of bare hard scrabble thin land
Draped to the side of the ravines
Exposing the layers of understory limestone below.
Sentinel wood line posts, strong with wire, guard the narrow highway
That rolls with the landscape.
Occasional cotton wood ribbons
Crosses the roadway over the sign ‘Dry Run Creek’ which still remains dry until the rain comes.
All this
Served under the banner of blue sky
Shredded with a mare’s tail wisp of clouds

Trying Moments
Written: by Miracle Man
1-14-2020
Within each day exists time that is bland,
but I deal with these moments and move ahead.
Realizing that my time rests in God’s hand,
and that my life hangs by an unseen thread.
It’s what I do daily for HIM that will count,
Do I always step forward with my best foot?
Only God sees the barriers I must surmount,
and to name HIS blessings I’d be hard put.

fat toes.
Girl lip

Thought smart

Frogmouth

SWAK
Pucker up, my fine man,
trim that mustache, I have a plan.
I'll write you a letter in cursive, long hand,
sealed in a kiss [from a dame named Susann.]
Your wife or your lover
will be hard put to discover
whose lips blew that kiss from deep under cover
though around the mailbox BOTH may hover.
Pucker up, I say KISS.
You're a man I can't resist
and fanciful longings truly do exist.
So, pucker up Mr. O the *H.M. needs your kisses.
Dedicated to

How does on measure the worth of a man?
How does one try to surmise it?
Can a man be appraised like a parcel of land?
There are so many things that comprise it;
For the gem of his soul has such faceted cut,
That we're hard put to judge by set standard.
It depends from which angle you're viewing the gem,
How it's depth and it's beauty are rendered;
So how can we measure the worth of a man,
When we can't see all sides of the jewel?
Do we measure the body, the spirit, the soul,
A man is not single, he's plural;
So to even attempt to judge part of a man,
Without giving thought to the others,
Is like trying to sing just part of a song,
It's left lacking as you will discover;
So leave the appraising to He who is worthy,
To judge on the part or the whole;
For once He's refined him the whole man is worthy,
And he comes forth shining as gold.
"FOR HE KNOWETH THE WAY THAT I TAKE; WHEN HE HAS TRIED ME, I SHALL COME FORTH AS GOLD."

Dazed n confused
Not knowing how to help if its not spoken of too
Expressing is like a suggestion of how deep its roots
Dazed n confused
Not knowing how to help if rooted out too
Just feeling bruised
n stripped arms split blood drips n thrown in a hole left to the wolves
Knowing better tho
Just mentioning the motion of emotions felt while being being bum-rushed by scars that were produced
Silently roaring the proof
Dazed n confused
A lil gesture of consideration returned n provoked concern
Dazed n confused
Thoughts of smothering n tryin too hard put aside for questions of relevance that are shown why they are
yurned
What's the answer in return
Nothin
Dazed n confused
Wearing fortified gear ready for anything anyone or something
Dazed n confused
Not ever ready to give up just not knowing what to do...Peace
