Another Dawn

ANOTHER DAWN

The morning winces as a new day begins
Mired in the half slumber of a restless night
And reluctant to engage whilst half awake
Like a trembling foot hovering over the brake
Good humoured dawn greetings sound trite
And the fading moon just knowingly grins

Dawn comes around so quickly these days
No chance or time to complete a dream
What a critical daily role to have acquired
As the demand is that all shall be inspired
When night’s blanket is loose at the seam
But it’s the diurnal clock that one obeys

There’s no respite with this job for eternity
Day after day, just subtle seasonal changes
None can detect my initial blurred vision
My tired eyes can see no changed decision
The world still turns, and gravity engages
My half sister moon, no shared paternity

She's Chicken and I Love Her

I
She's now almost four months old
He is at least four months older
She is half-sister, sharing a mother
So far, she, Kaalnek, somewhat bolder
Than her half-brother, somewhat Christian
Remains pure, virgin, or I'm no "farmer-observer"

II
Kaalnek is the bare-necked pet, my Chicken
She refuses the advances of Mr. Five
He courts so arduosly, like other species
Of bird and fowl, clucks with excited voice
And delicious tidbits, morsels for poultry
She may have enjoyed his attention
But remains on the run ... Incest unwelcome?

Intuitive.
I am honest to a fault, overly sensitive, tough as nails and dependable.
I have two stepsisters, a half-brother and half-sister.
I love birds, antiques and old houses.
I feel anticipation, frustration and happiness.
I fear spiders, being misunderstood and being totally alone.
I would like to see more kindness in the world, no more abuse, no wars.
Resident of a cold northern place.

IF YOU PULL A LONG FACE : IX

IF you pull a long face
Being born with a long face bytheway
Then you have at worst a problem face
None will know if you're sad or gay

Now if you keep pulling this long face
Mostly at the dinner table, say
Most would think it a commonplace
To pull the leg off the mint sauce tray

Yet if you keep pulling the same face
Some mugs who thrive on mere hearsay
Might try to pull your long aching face
To pave the way for a new long Broadway

And if you keep pulling that long face
Long as Sphinxes' smirks look from far away
Remember how Ol' Ceasar fell for Cleo's grace
And Antony dragged half-sister to Rome as prey

So if you must pull a long face
Seeing who pulls spiteful faces in disarray
At those faces being belittled for their race
Put on balance long face and Sphinx to weigh

Ava - I spoke to your half sister today.
She says it’s warm in Albuquerque. She tells you hello
and to please wish your mother, her step-mother,
a happy Mother’s Day on her behalf.
She asked me if you still look like her twin.
I said I simply don’t know.
Then she asked if I remembered our trip last year to Galveston
when the two of you, holding hands, danced on the pier.
Of course I do. In fact, I think about it
every single day (the same way I think about you).
I’ll never forget watching my two girls,
each the other’s half sister, who, when finally together,
painted the boardwalk with one complete giggle
that now completely splinters me and your sister, Lily, in two.

Scone's Lament

Scone’s lament

Bronco Don rode into the Dirran… café,
It was owned by the Spiro the Greek,
The patrons went into a Magpie smother flap hey,
Big brown horse and a whip cracking, geek,

Ole Brownie the horse would go any where,
So up the front steps he did canter,
Curses flew rare, young Scone couldn’t bear,
And Don booted his butt, like bad Santa,

An underage girl was the cause, yes sweet Merle,
When push came to shove in the game,
Don booted the Scone all around the Balonne,
And the river was running again.

Don’s half sister Clare, flew out of her chair,
And ran off to catch the train,
Bronco Don was still chasing the Scone everywhere ,
So Clare went to Goondi-windi, it rained.

True story in 1947…..Don

Unzipped Lips

Keep your opinion to yourself & let people live
Just because you think your perfect doesn't mean you are.
Tell me to grow up?
You grow up.

Honestly the mistakes you preach about
Are in fact the mistakes you made at one point...
Live and learn?
More like live, screw up and take your life's mistakes out on me.

Yes maybe you did get pregnant at 17 with my HALF sister
Then preach that teens shouldn't be retarded and should grow the heck up..
Well sweetie im sure when the pregnancy test displayed a plus, You were just as helpless and lost as the ones you criticize today.

Pathetic really.
Set an example why don't you? I mean after all just because you got me to eighteen doesn't mean you throw the towel in and stop parenting..
Want a medal now or something?

I vow to never parent like you.
You had to rough of a childhood to parent in my opinion
You experienced it all; Foster homes, abusive parents, pedophile brothers etc..
Yet here you stand, re-mending your broken home and life through me.

Begging For a Second Chance

Fall from Heaven's arms,
land on her "half-sister".
Look through the garden's eyes.
Still, I miss her.

Let me crawl with nature
or fly with the stars.
Landing on the "half-sister"
won't take me very far.

Treat me not with shame,
cuddle with me, my pride,
because dignity will take you far,
but wrong can't easily calm the tide.

I beg with honesty
forbidden from her land of peace,
for she call me, not again.
Not even prayers she answer at the very least.

Kill not, my hope.
Kill not, my freedom,
but don't treat me wrong,
like Adam and Eve have done.

Take me with you,
for i fly with broken wings.
Grant me my soul,
with the words that sing.

Let Go...

lost inside
dead where he stands
why doesn't he just
let go?
tires squealing
people screaming
and there is blood
flooding the street
in black clothing they stand
thinking, "why did he,
Let go?"

*this is dedicated to more than just my friend, Anthony-Michael, who jumped infront of a car
on December 15th, killing himself. I love you Anthony and I can only hope that you are
happy where you are now. I'm sorry that it just had to come to this. -Always and Forever
you shall be in my heart, Erin Gillian, your Half-Sister.

Why Not Make It Last

When you take a Woman/Man to be your Husband/Wife,
you vow for it to be for life.
your forever partner,
for no Man to put asunder.
vows are made, not to be broken.
they are made to God and your spouse, when spoken.
we create a state of confusion in our children's lives
with step/Mom's/Dad's, ex wives.
half Sister from another Mister, Brother from another Mother.
has society made it so easy for us?
or have our churches made it just?
In law's, step siblings, half siblings, step Mother, step Father,
what a web we weave.
if we would simply take our vows to heart
things would be so much better for all. i believe.
