Grab What You Can Poems | Examples

Turkeys

A Brief Guide to the Tories
As practised in the UK
Grab what you can
Shall be the way

Life at the top
Seems to be a farce
When progress is made
By kissing ****

Brown paper envelopes
From he who affords
Can secure a seat
In the House of Lords.

Cutting benefits
While all the while
Heaping honours
On the Tax Exile

Look after their own
Seems the creed
Charity is there
For those in need.

The country run by
Ex red top hack
In what’s known as
Getting a country back

Turkeys voted for Christmas
Don't assume they always wll
So while we're in power
Get your fingers in the till

Grab what you can
Shall be the way
We’ll take our chances
Come Judgement Day.

Written in the time of the unlamented Boris Johnson, but still relevant

You are where your meant to be
No your not here by chance
It is progress in your Destiny
Life is a blessing at a Glance

Come lets count the colours in a rainbow
Lets count the twinkling stars
We have a clue who counts on us
Lets be their blessing at a Glance

Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder
It’s meant for me and you
Grab what you can with your eyes
For it is a stoke of Luck at a Glance.

Take It Back

You say that life is hard,
And that you want to quit,
Job pushes you too far,
You can’t take all the grit.
Tell me you want some security,
Worth forsaking you love for me,
Settle with him, but it’s fantasy,
Stand up girl, get off your knees!
Take it back.

I don’t make enough you say,
I’m not the ‘kind’ you seek,
But will he ever match that night
Of sweet love on the peak.
You tell me he protects you now,
From being poor, well, take a bow!
His actions say it all quite loud
Without money he wouldn’t know how!
Take it back.

This world is so unkind,
Got to grab what you can take,
Some day I hope you find
Some spine for heaven’s sake.
You say we still can ‘slip away,’
Sorry, I don’t play that game,
Not second to some rich man’s need
Sorry I can’t match his speed.
Take it back.

I should’ve predicted this all,
Should have seen it coming,
You never had the balls
To take a risk on anything.
You think you’ve bought a perfect life,
Free of struggle, work, or strife,
Content to be some rich fool’s wife,
But devoid of love, a twisting knife.
Take it back.

?Stand up, make your light shine.

be yourself; no join the line.

the eagle dey fly alone,

and the sky na your own.

God don bless you with a gift divine.
no let that serpent snatch am,

you gat dey wise and cony.

even if him come as your fam;

be wise, no listen to him story.
many don die before their time,

all because dem believe him lies.

now na your turn; no give a dime.

go out there, grab what you can,

the gods dey with you, we be Africans!
