A Toast To Dr Spooner

A Toast To Dr Spooner

William Archibald Spooner
22/7/1844 - 29/8/1930

Here's to Doctor Spooner
Man of linguistic fame
Though sadly today maybe
Not so many know his name.
With his absent mindedness
And sometimes eccentric ways
His reputation was established long
Before he passed his last day

To a language rich in concepts
Wonderfully able to express the absurd
He added a whole new concept to
The humorous misuse of words.
An academic and a cleric
His lapses caused him some
 Distress, angst, and dismay,
But towards the end it is said he
Mellowed towards his word play

So, here's to Doctor Spooner,
For which of us have not
 At times said and done
Things maybe best gorfot.
Hood gealth Spoctor Dooner
I lo sove your gord wame:
A glazed rass in respect to
The yemory of mour name

Divinity Related To Trinity An Amenity

On Tue, Aug 30, 2022, 2:13 PM james horn wrote:
remember my Lord
who i always have adored
body nailed to board

always can afford
to pay for love of the Lord
worship in a horde

following drinking gord
my ship with Lord in is moored
request for him out poured

without any doubt
have heard what Lord is about
we will twist and shout

trouble in each chord
played by devil we deplored
even when we snored

know divinity
is related to trinity
an amenity

we have unity
which is with immunity
in a community

Love Drought

My true and only love
When will you come my way?
I have been divorced for so long
And looking for you for so long
I am bored out of my gord
I am about to burst
Looking for you
Oh, to fill the crevices of my mind
And the cavities of my heart
Help me God to get out of this drought

Premium MemberA Gordon Lightfoot Tribute

Attended a performance last night that blew me away
A concert in tribute of Gord Lightfoot, idol of my younger days
What glorious memories
Evoked teary-eyed reveries
A journey back in music, a gentler time it portrayed

Granddaughter

For our Granddaughter-Fayth-

You came to us from the island and you brought

to us a youthful innocence-filled with adventure-

a life that measures the earth with your heart-

You brought also the sweetness of your smile-

the honey that bursts into light-

I have seen no eyes so bright as yours-

no heart so sweet-nor such gentle kindness-

I have seen nothing so alive

as your begining journey through life-

Now you know-granddaughter-how much we love you-

and that for us-you are the brightness that

bursts and bears the flower of spring-

you are the fragrance of a garden in

the pathway of our lives-

I place my heart to earth and hear you-

I hear your laughter and your excitement

of life and adventure-You are a-Little

butterfly-sweet and sure-Grandpa Gord-

Premium MemberToothless Ruth

You can have your Toothless Ruth
Or Jeannette the sweet Coquette
But you can't have Crazy Harold
What part don't you get?

They gotta rhyme like Contrary Mary
Or Peter with the Metre long nose
There's famous Georgie Porgie
And of course there's Black Hose Rose

There's more, there's Moody Judy
Or nasty old Cranky Frank
There's Earl who's very Squirrel like
And how about Hank the Yank

Ever heard of Frail Gail
Or Valerie on the Gallery
What about Kate by the Garden Gate
There's Calorie counting Mallory

There's the sweetheart Shelley Belly
And silly old Jack the Quack
Scott who sails a great big Yacht
And Barack who's got the Knack

I could go on for quite a while
There's Bob who's known as Rob
But Gord is starting to get really Bored
So I'll end this tale with a sob!

Chi

A Question of Chi…
I see. A man once known to me,
By the name of G.
His Madness,
On my Path.notes,
So float in my mind.
Playful and kind,
His voice on the wind…
Passed his Way on April's day.
I read the headline say...
With an ache and a chill,
I read, his heart was still…
S’okay, my mind say…
His voice has come this way….
Soke. A Do.

===============================
"...I left you my Lotus, Lion.Ness..."

What do I ride and who do I see.
Spyder come by to sit with me.
Gord.So guard I'll be.
On.to the Wind,
In the Guardian Sea.
Are you courting insanity...
Or is that just Me?
