Girdles and Garters

A museum exhibit
Showed 200 years
Of clothing for women
In varied careers.

It also had items
To wear in the home –
The aprons and housecoats
Not oft in a poem.

The garters and girdles
Made us reminisce
About underwear parts
Not one woman would miss.

Certain styles have evolved
While some retro ones last,
But I’m happy some things
Have remained in the past.

Premium Membernot big enough for a girdle

I live in a family of big muscular women
Some are as dainty as a hippopotamus
Our family does not have a waist.
None of us have ever had a waist.
Waists are for other people’s families.

We have girdles, but we don’t like wearing them.
Oh you say, “Do they give you a waist?”
Hardly. They are designed to conceal our cookies, pies and cakes.
Because we are an avid eating family.
Sweets is our forte’ we specialize in sweets.

We had a distant cousin stay with us once.
She had never had a sweet or a girdle.
We gave her both.
She disliked the sweet,
And the girdle kept falling off of her.
Not big enough for a girdle.
Sad to the rest of us.

Premium MemberThe Unsupervised Stop Sign

Many years ago,
girls wore girdles.
The tight uncomfortable things,
they held one in tight.
One summer's night,
I snuck my girlfriend out.
We were off on a double date,
a night of fun and laughs.
Her date found her girdle,
the unsupervised stop sign.

Premium MemberA New Journey

Crumpled dreams collapse

In debris of failed life

Pole star shines in sky of despair

A new journey begins

Searching for divine grace within

Euphoric rainbow arc girdles the soul.

Poetry, throw-a-three
Dactyls for you and me
Six silly bulls, I see
All in a field!

Myrtle McWhirtley
This is the life for me
No silly names, I see
Less junk to wield.

Dactylly Practical
Superfantastical
Equally Whimsical
More Flexibly

So dactyls or whirtles?
Just tighten your girdles
Throw down some poetry
Effortlessly!

Mine mother had 3 sisters and 1 brother
All of em’ had married young
Not because they hada
All of em’ had more than 3 children
Cept mine mama she had only 2
Mama N tem’
Cook ta gether
Mama N tem’
Wore them girdles wit the clasp
Mama N tem’
As children took ole creek baths
Mama N tem’
Made homemade cornbread and gravy
Soups and canned veggies, fruits, and meats
Baked apple pies N peach cobbler
And placed them on the window sills
OH! WOW still smell the aroma
All of em knew how to sew
And when they when out on the down boy did they glow
Dressed to the nine’s even past tens
Walk past all types of men’s
Better not cross Mama N tem’
They could be in the garage, you’ld be in the living room
They could hear a pin, a bobby-pin drop
Yeah! Even some of them as girls tended crops
A displenarian they would woop that butt
You be cryin they tell ya, to shut up
Now mama N tem’ would say their prayers
While combing, braidN, washN your hair
B on the porch watch ya walk to school
No one better bother her child, don’t be no fool
My mama knew ya mama betcha’ they do?

Premium MemberBe You-The Only Way To Fly

My favorite pastime?

What about yours?

Danger is my dalliance!

Conformity? No way!

Feels as a heavy cape.

Just be you, is all I ask!

Be true, hardly, an easy task,

Rules are for ghouls!

Stop wearing spiritual girdles!

Like old Aunt Myrtle,

Let's get naked by the stream.

And samba liked fishes in wanton, aqua dreams!

Remember Suspenders

Do you remember this?
Suspenders for a teenage miss,
Real boa constrictors,
Our hip inhibitors,
Teen boy deterrents,
That's what they meant,
Elastic girdles vanished too,
I remember suspenders, do you?

Premium MemberLife On Rainbow Arc

Despair depressed in quicksands of time, hollow inside
Dented dreams collapse insipid, capsize and subside
Failure makes the razed life dark.

Latent beacon flashes on the desolate inner pathway
The light beckons through the drooping haze of dismay
On a new journey you embark.

Patient probes of endeavor for the edified soul begin
Eternally searching for shimmer of divine grace within
Life girdles euphoric rainbow arc.

Bazaar

Bazaar

The nights’ chest opens up -
strings of illusions
rattle in palms
the knowing buyers haggle
for a dream
while the fascinated women
try on
toles of princesses or odalisques.
In the shell of hope
genuine perls are priceless.

Silk labyrinth
of amber and incense,
amulets of shamans hidden in death,
a mirage in golden cases,
the drug of success
paths and passions
unknown potions
scaffold question.

Merchants with epheb faces
skillfully spin shadows,
scarves, dependences, embroideries,
compasses, elders, rings, sapphires,
open
conspicuous roads.

Rubys, gold,
sealed fates
days delirium
forgotten writings
bracelets and silver girdles,
old things,
new objects
disturb the untold air.

The world’s cornice
crunches upon the stalls
heavy stars
cramped into bags
shriek
with undecipherable voices.

Thousands of dead and living worlds
rise to the skies
from eyes
touched by temptation.

The Magic Wand of Plan B

Plan B up your sleeves saves the day
When your main plan on its knees flounders
Your hopes and aspirations led astray far from their hope ray
In the midst of howlers and blunders

Plan B if better thought out
Better articulated
Bereft of the gout
Inherent in Plan A sometimes poorly insulated

From presumptions and assumptions sometimes too simplistic and unrealistic
Diminishing chances of hitting the bull’s eye
In a manner spectacular and fantastic
Straying in a cul-de-sac sty

Which Plan B benefitting from deficiencies of Plan A remedies
Clearing pipelines of hurdles
Sometimes engendering and yielding comedies
In the middle of girdles

Paves the way for achievements of Plan B
To work like a magic wand clockwork
Executed in a hive of a zillion bees at the majestic command the queen bee
Issues to get drones and other members of her swarm towards guaranteed success to work.

A guy wore a dress for all to see
On TV, he was called Dorothy
To his pals he was Mike
Girdles he disliked
On set, he would sit down to pee.
