Concrete dust drifts like sand across a coastal path.
An old woman battered with facial features that hung on her face,
Disconnected and hanging.
She leans forward in her blumonge, waterproof, unwashed nylon flares from Matalan.
They ruffle in the wind as she looks out withdrawn onto the A350.
Her gaze is muffled by a sheen of intoxication,
She tries with the majority of her self to keep her lids from closing,
Mascara encrusted into the creases of her skin,
Almost soldering her lashes together in a gluelike fashion.
Leans hazardously towards the path of oncoming traffic,
Gesturing with open arms to the creatures of metal that push past her.
The only trace of their moment in time is a gust that pushes her body back to safety as it, Confused and unobservant,
Collapses onto the urban stream that claims her yet again.
I watch as she continues to stumble on,
Reaching out to every vehicle that steams on past,
She does not see me.
She is clogged by something greater and more sombre than I know.
She is a perfect reflection of the time and place,
She is what we all are feeling but continue not to show in fear of the outcome.
She is us.

“Come here”
You said, gesturing to the sunset.
I climbed up beside you, my legs dangling over the edge of the railing.
My breath sped up as you put your hand on my back
The thumping of my heart was felt all the way in my ears
I relaxed into your touch
just enough
for you to have complete control
I exhaled a sigh of relief,
for I had gotten what I’d always wanted
The sigh turned into a gentle breeze
And in that moment, I was falling
There were no butterflies
There were no sparks
Just your hand
On my back
Resting heavier and heavier
Until you gave me a push
And suddenly, I was falling
Not into your arms
But onto the
cold.
hard.
ground.

Colors, bold and laughing
Journey through Spring, then Summer
Reminiscing about Winter’s bitter
All the hostile, cold and gray
Ice crystals,
Faded into the silence
Beneath a freshly fallen snow
Blowing away the despair, the dark
From a twilight’s beckoning,
Song of light, softly playing
A gentle melody
Quaint, unfailing, life’s rhapsody
Soon autumn’s tears
Erase the whisper of Summer’s rhythm,
Gesturing to the moment
A prayer spoken,
Destiny trembling in the spirit,
Creativity edged
In mystery, a glimpse of light
Falling with the rain,
Dew drenched mornings,
Turning from the broken, the faded,
To the solemn expressions
Love so amazing…
My soul, assured, forever praiseful.
Seasons come and go,
The rain falls, the winds blow,
Echoing across the mountains
In beautiful stains of light,
Shadows and blessings
Never failing to excite…
The stars bloom with hope
And wishes are spoken
As hearts, sometimes broken,
Delight in the time, peppered
So fine, so very fine…
Seasons in rhyme

Gripped with freedom gear
Driving well, sans fear
Our son whirls in joyous spree
Quelling my heart’s shout
Smiting mother's doubt...
He champions victor’s glee!
In special wheelchair
There he zooms with flair
Gesturing triumphant sign…
Oh, we feel so blest
Since his spastic pest
Makes us gain God's grace* divine.
*2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.

water wells have wooden covers
a certain rocky mountain is dry
but it has a vertical well cover
as a door over a cave entrance
around which a castle is built
the cave is a dry vampire well
in which they sleep till people
travelling in bad weather need
shelter and knock at the door
and a pleasant old man with
a welcome smile says "Well..."
(gesturing his home as the
local well...for peoples life fluids)
"...come in...out of the rain...
eat, dry, rest...stay the night"
and they were brought into the flock

In spring's sweet grip, when buds begin to bloom,
My spirit, in joy, like blooms, does unfurled,
The sun's fond touch dispels the winter's gloom,
Whispering secrets to the sunrise world.
In greenery, scented flowers swinging,
Serenity fills up my restless soul,
Breeze swings the fields, echoing, with singing,
Uplifting my visions, once still, now whole.
Oh, how the birdsongs fill the deep blue sky,
With melodies which stir the depths within,
The echoes of melodies softly fly,
Gesturing bye to winter's icy spin.
So let us revel in this moment bright,
Holding the Spring deep in our souls' delight.

Remembering the ages, spent with my shadow – priceless moments when I sought her, scrutinized her, emphatically stalked her because, in reality, she was clearly stalking me! ~ quote by poet
~~~
Flowing, a silhouette, dancing
Under streams of delicate light
In gentle whispers, entrancing
Persuasive musings who excite
Echoes of starry eyed wishes
Glistening beneath the moonlight
Sighs melt the breath as she swishes
Persuasive musings who excite
Glowing, figures freely strolling
Gesturing to the roaring night
Old followers need consoling
Persuasive musings who excite
Flowing, a silhouette, dancing
Persuasive musings who excite
During December, decorative display designs dazzle.
Christmas carolers chant cheerfully.
Merry music makes many meaningful memories.
Trimming tree trinkets twinkle.
Santa's sleigh soars skyward seeing soft snowflakes shimmer.
Households have happy holiday happenings.
Plenty presents pile, parading pretty paper.
Generous gifts given, gesturing grateful grins.
Festive fun for families!
Years have come and gone, with softly dancing lights,
Gesturing with wonders, bravely swirling flames,
Changing doubt to faith, remembering Christ’s claims.
Reflecting hope, yearning to still the dark nights.
Years have transformed my heart, feelings, and insights,
Showing me to love, without fear that shames,
Giving and forgiving, not playing mind games.
Sincerely sharing takes your heart to new heights.
Transforming shadows to silhouettes of bliss,
Glittering in hearts, like stars in summer skies,
Promises of peace that summer’s sky won’t miss,
Interpreting dreams who wind’s wrath can’t disguise,
Stirring belief in those who know the soul’s kiss,
Transmutation brings joy, much like love implies.
Just soul of 3 quarters of an ounce:
Exist in earthly body,
Accomplish planned tasks,
Generate energy and leave;
Endure pain and joy,
During all my life;
Negative and positive both prevail,
React to ambiance surrounding mine,
Life was full of joy and sorrow,
Until I relinquished the body;
Caring friends and kins,
All accompanied up to burial,
Tears in eyes, gesturing bye;
But none knows I still exist,
Perch in hearts and ambiance;
Why and who am I?
Special… midst quirks of sheer mirth
joyful child is God’s blessing
greeting family members with glad smile
marked by good morning of sign language bliss
radiating cheers that champion hope.
Special son spells victory
gesturing double thumbs up
interspersed with spastic praying hands
as he seeks for God’s favor and guidance
toward triumphant day worth thanking for.
His special needs require love
as well as patience and care
meeting demands challenging parents’ role
to stay sober, serenely strong with poise
vanquishing panic against frantic sigh.
Special kindness always reigns
since home begets charity
where safety fortress towers, smiting fear
propelling members toward faith ventures
especially in reaching-out.
Special child exudes good heart
Grateful for supportive souls.
How about some cheese? the Aussie said to the new employee.
Which kind would you like? Cheddar? Pepper jack? American?
Definitely not American. Do you have Provolone?
The other guys laughed. They were toying with this American.
Cheese means money over here, one of them said to the new guy.
The new guy kept his thoughts to himself, but he listened hard now.
Figuring out who the instigators were.
Was their teasing clean fun or bullying?
A latecomer began gesturing frantically as he entered the office.
Upon seeing this display, the new guy decided to introduce himself.
“I am your new manager,” he told them
“Feel free to call me the Big Cheese.”
Taken With Myself
David J Walker
It has come to my attention
That all too often
I have Taken to Talking to myself
Out loud
So
I’ve taken to wearing Ear Buds
As a plausible cause
I’ve taken to faking conversation
With a totally unknown but convincing
Party to whom I am assumed speaking
I’ve taken to laughing at cleaver phrasing
That only I am thinking never saying
A single word for anyone else to hear
I’ve taken to dangling sentences
never finished
As if in an argument that can’t be won
I’ve taken to smiling and MmmmmHmmming in
Agreement as I’m shopping for whatever I can find
In the frozen food aisle
I’ve taken to grand gesturing as if I was Italian
Using my hands to accent every word spoken
While driving the tollway alone
I’ve taken to ending with
Love You Too
In the presence of young women who might
wonder if there is something more to
what they are seeing pushing a small cart
of Diet Coke & Ding Dongs around the store
A silver frame, a gold frame,
And snapshots hold him here,
Frozen smile in place (say cheese),
Still, as he almost never was in life.
The beloved timbre of voice, the
Echoes of that exuberant laugh
Inevitably fade, no matter our effort
to keep them from slipping away.
Slowly, as months and years pass,
We knit a comforter of a life
In which we can wrap ourselves
And start a new life – without.
Unsuspecting, one morning,
Someone intervenes with a video,
Remembrances from former times,
Taken by a friend or relative.
He is with us, as if he never left,
Laughing, gesturing, and speaking.
The comforter starts to unravel.
And, once again, we are shattered.
