Fade into the void,
pale and unseen,
a whisper of silence,
dim murmured echo.
Unheard and unremarked,
an absent fragment,
of drifting haze,
that lingers unseen.
Fragile, easily shattered,
weightless and distant,
an obscure hollow,
of faint gray dust.
Blurred empty thought,
foggy and fractured,
like an unfelt sigh,
flickering invisible in the murk.
O veiled shadow
of former self,
ashen phantom
of better days,
am I but a fleeting shade,
doomed by fate
to wilt and wane,
and fray at the edges,
to shiver and wilt,
until vanishing,
simply disappear?
Not even a glimmer
of self remains.
mary (a quiet yes) bows low
as light (soft as breath) spills into her womb—
a promise cradled in infinite space.
joseph’s hands (calloused & trembling)
grasp the weight of whispers:
holy. impossible. near.
caesar decrees, the world bends—
roads unravel like threads on a loom.
a city swells, heavy with strangers
searching for shelter,
for place,
for peace.
(no room)
(no room)
(no room)
until a manger beckons, humble as dust.
stars shiver—
their silver echoes fall to earth
to crown a child
wrapped in rags,
in glory.
shepherds (all elbows & awe) stumble in:
the sky split open,
angels singing of peace like rain.
their stories drip into silence,
hearts thudding in wonder.
the child stirs.
and the world breathes anew—
eternity held
in the curve of His tiny hand.
Unflattering Echoes
.for public domain
My echoes return
from barren canyon walls,
absent of the flattery,
I often seek from mirrors.
. for public domain
Often I feel I suffer more
than ever I need penance for.
did this symphonic ensemble produce-
a resounding klange
