Education

daddy must have told me

Don't scold a lady, son. She will eviscerate you with precision
mama did tell me
Always be humble and kind. Yes, even when irked. Please forgive me, Ma
I won
"Dumbass of the day" awarded to one big fool. Well deserved award.

Love Celebration and Education

I
Unless you have been loved --
Not just reading about all types,
Unless you have been a Beloved,
My life says: until then, it's all hype

II
My mom - unschooled - loved me well
My dad, not so well, he was unwell
So I sought God, as Mother, Shakthi
I found Abba Father because of Wendy

III
Wendolene's love is not all, but so much
More than I deserve -- as with Jesus!
I met her when I was sixty
I have energy as if I'm thirty

IV
I celebrate human Love, and marriage --
Be faithful, see a miracle, all thy days!!

Boy Sitting

If you have not read my "Girl Rising" poem
please read it first. Thanks I appreciate it.

Rise up from your chair
Do not be complacent
Do you not hear your sister
She cries out for justice

Are you being raised to be her jailor
Who has fed you a pie filled with lies
Baked in the pit of hell
Coated in religiosity
Served with justification
The contents poisoning your mind
Destroying your soul

Rise from your chair
Stand with your sisters
Beside them
Not above them
You were not born to be master
Their time is now
Stand on the side of freedom
Education
Equality
That time is now

One day
You will raise daughters
Give them a new world
Filled with possibilities
Limitless
Strength
A world you helped create
All because
You stood
You said
Enough
The time for change is now

Cleared For Takeoff

Her life is just about to take off,
As she straps in behind the stick.
The destination might be unclear,
But the route is hers to pick.

Education fuels her craft,
And graduation trips the switch.
She wants to see what there is out there,
The call of adventure is like an itch.

Her family is the tower that tries,
To make sure that the runway is clear.
Letting her know that back at home,
There’s a safe landing for her to steer.

The time has come to place her faith
In these untested wings.
In the faith that the Lord above
Will grant the joy that this life brings.

As she hurtles down the tarmac,
Her destination comes into view.
An endless sky before her now,
A boundless sea of blue.

With a confident smile upon her lips,
And a glimmer in her eye.
She rises above the firmament,
The time has come for her to fly.

Captivating Filipina

She is bronze colored in complexion...
She is not too tall nor too small..
She is found along high rise buildings to sidewalks..
She dresses according to the 90's, to the latest moda...

She has her own unique style...
She has of brilliance undefined..
She has the hands soft to caress and rough to grip..
She has of eloquence: smile that soothes...

She is from the southeastern seas..
She belongs to islands of myriads history..
She comes from the land of the tropics..
She stands out among the crowd..

Empowered through high quality education..
Unbreakable by dozens of life experiences..
Molded flexible enough by Her culture
Zest enough to face the whole world..

Wether in the most sophisticated way..
To the simplest servant you can see at home...
What makes her so captivated...
Her full blown nationality of being a Filipina...

The War Is Not Over

The war is not over
Then mentors of wars
Still live In the hearts
Of a gunman
Whose passion was thought
To feel the blood of his
Unknown enemies
Within and abroad his country
He believes the world
Own him a revenge
Cos of the lies he was feed with
Education to hate from a tender age
Is a bank of a future war
And is so sad till now
The seeds of hatred
Lives in alot of people

The war is not over
So many hates a place
They never been
Just cos of misinformation
So many hates people they
Never seen
Cos of the media
So many believe in unseen
Enemies cos there politicians
Preaches a certain hatred
About a place they also never
Truly know
You can see the war starts
From the mind
Yes so many minds
Are full hatred

The war is not over
The humans of the world
Are divided
We are yet to learn how
To live together
I wonder how possible
Is this
Cos we have gone too far
In division
We are divided beyond
Unity
Is so hard to call back
The humans race to order
Cos inside their hearts and mind
The war is not over

These Female Words

These words keep roaring in the silence
You could hear the drop of a pin
These words capture me like a camera lens
‘LIKE THE SKIN YOU ARE IN’

These words have been ringing in my ears;
For years they have been the cry of all +-men,
Sometimes it still feels like no one really cares:
‘PROMOTE DIVERSITY IN REPRESENTATIONS OF WOMEN’

These words should be given media clearance
Shown on screen and in every book chapter
‘LESS FOCUS ON PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
 AND MORE FOCUS ON CHARACTER’

These words should become a chant
Like evidence of a miracle that had been prayed
Not like a dogs tired whimper or tired pant
‘MORE HONESTY IN THE WAY WOMEN ARE POTRAYED’

I am guilty of this due to my socialization
I have no excuses now due to my education
I was once a victim and made others a victim
I join the voices that repeat these words
‘WOMEN ARE INTELLIGENT’
 ‘WOMEN SHOULD BE EDUCATED’
 ‘WOMEN ARE SELF-ASSURED, DIVERSE, STRONG’
I join the voices that repeat these words
‘BE CONFIDENT’
‘BE WHO YOU ARE- NOT WHO SOCIETY TELLS YOU TO BE’

If It's Good Pass It On

Just fifteen years old, pregnant and all alone,
A child herself but in a family way as she checks the coin slot in another pay phone.

Homeless, hungry, all alone and terribly scared,
She just wanders the streets totally unprepared.

Her folks told her she was an absolute disgrace,
And how were they going to look their neighbors in the face?

With tears in her eyes and a broken heart she left not wanting to cause her parents pain,
A few clothes packed she heads out in the pouring rain.

She had been victimized and raped by someone her parents held dear,
She figured they would take his side and the only thing left was for her to just disappear.

Quickly she found out just how hard the streets would become,
And out here if you’re to make it you learn fast not to act dumb.

Shoplifting and panhandling was the only way this young girl had to survive,
And she didn’t know what to do cause in a short two months the baby would arrive.

But her luck was about to change with a young couple she was about to meet,
They were searching for someone like her and they were wealthy and sweet.

In exchange for her child they promised her, her education and a chance at a brand new start,
She knew she could never support the child and this was the way they should part.

On the day of the delivery the baby was taken away,
Not even knowing if it was a boy or a girl they were separated that day.

The couple honored their agreement and the young girl became an educated woman with wealth of her own,
And she uses that wealth to help others in dire needs returning to others the kindness she was shown.

Note: Isn't this a better alternative than abortion?

Mom

Mommy, you are the master of matters that I manufacture
The Queen that queued for nine months to receive me
You are the fleece blanket that warmed my days in the dark
The pillar that strengthen my backbone when I was weak
You failed to deny me the access to see the light when nature calls
You spent painful days and nights carrying my body in you
And selflessly shared with me every bite of food you ate

Challenges of losing me on my arrival threatened your peace
But you fought back with prayers begging God to save me
Exhaustion of the final day when I knock didn’t scare you
You endured the bitterness of giving me chance to find my way out of you
Even after my fall you didn’t swear back but smiled back and praise God for my safe arrival
You welcomed me in this planet earth and give me home
You made me familiar to the second planet where i was a stranger

You named me so that i grow to recognise my identity
You voice was so sweet for me to recognise you among others
I realised that i have a sense of smell in early days of my life when you cuddle me
For that you deserve to be called mother because you mastered me till this day

From crawling to running you mastered every step I took
Every move I made you monitored with high observation
The moment of my fear to take first step of my walk you were there to watch me
I cried and crowned you with restless nights though you found it easier to survive
They wished all the fun and luxury lives but you wished to see me growing to be the best
Torments and tantrums I threw at you, you managed find a way to show me the light Mom...

You knew that I deserve better education and that it has to begin with you
At the age of one i knew the word mama without you whispering it in my ears
Birth bond transmitted it to me because that was the first wish you made when I was still in you
From day one stage at school to the teenage stage behaviour
You stood by my side with smile in spite of difficulties you faced
I grew to humiliate and embarrass you
Put you through hardship and so much anguish
I forced to fall under bad influence of alcohol and drugs
Grew to make my own choices of friends that charmed me
I refused to listen when you they aim nothing but to champ me
You cried crown and begged me in public to make me understand your pain oh Ma...

All I heard was the melody of deception from the street
All that I saw was the bright lights of the spinning cars
Phone calls I responded only unknown because yours was annoying to take
I messed and mixed up the bright future you planned for me
I offended and perpetrated against the community including you
Sneaking and stealing behind your back, right under your nose oh ungrateful me
I cared for no one but my selfish behaviour and needs
I was left with nothing but jail for my sins
Yet you were left with nothing but to bail out your king
I cried back at you when things get tough dear Mommy!
Apart from everything you still had the gut to master my matters with sympathy and love
The crash I banged at you, you failed to hold the grudge
Pains that I have caused you, you never painted me bad
All that you honoured was the title you were given the day you gave birth to me Mommy
You are indeed the master of the matters I manufactured
