Breaks through the crust of wet sand,
Alive with the last push of tide, salt
With no start or end;just a horizon
Of poor grass and toy ships and
the saline tears of fish; If you turn
This morning round in a wind of seagulls..
But,you say,
Unlike a picture this cannot be changed
Unlike a story this is not a ring.

A quiet cove with mangroves
Sitting in beach chairs
"That sounds wonderful," you say
But in my dream we both were there
I don't recall that much detail
Other than to say
Our feet were cooling in the flow
Of lapping waves that day
The shadows started to lengthen
The sun began to fall
Hand in hand in silence
We watched the curtain call
The last thing I remember
One single thought comprised
I was thinking as I kissed you,
"She's got the most incredible blue eyes!"

Walking on the beach
I notice the receding surf
has left areas of crinkled grey sand
that look like the lining of a stomach.
She holds my hand
nervous impulses
boil beneath my skin
like thousands of minnows.
I have a look in my eye
a secret light
like a river catching the sun
very early in the morning.
I was challenged with a statement
and the doubt was in my eye's
it was the fear
of not being wanted.

I love this bluebird very much

To show her my old neighborhood
To spend a day, it'd be so good

On the beach I lay on embers of sand
Melting my skin into putty of waste
The electric burn endured by the wind
A lapping massage through my ears, and space
A smelling-salt breath; the vastness of dreams
My paralyzed smile as fingers touch mine
She reads from her book to escape from the beach
An umbrella chair to give me…. my time
I stand in the surf, to ankles I sink
Expanding my chest for chin-raising sun
My palms turning out accepting my fate
Surrender myself; for your will, be done
We felt that we knew, but what did we know
Had we seen through miles of time still unknown
With no crystal ball, I prayed for some hope
To not be alone, as our paths, then shown

A new banner I unfurl
But she can't see the gifts I bring

My sweet angel was there like that
