Crystal Hope

Crystal Hope On the beach I lay on embers of sand Melting my skin into putty of waste The electric burn endured by the wind A lapping massage through my ears, and space A smelling-salt breath; the vastness of dreams My paralyzed smile as fingers touch mine She reads from her book to escape from the beach An umbrella chair to give me…. my time I stand in the surf, to ankles I sink Expanding my chest for chin-raising sun My palms turning out accepting my fate Surrender myself; for your will, be done We felt that we knew, but what did we know Had we seen through miles of time still unknown With no crystal ball, I prayed for some hope To not be alone, as our paths, then shown Together…. Forever, as one © 2018 Jeffrey Spencer
