Oh Summer, let me count thy ways as I bask
inside the sunlight of your sunny spice
Oh Summer, may I drink from your flaxen flask
before winter turns my skin as cold as ice

Oh Summer, dance me to the end of August
then dance me to the end of love.
Oh Summer, before my memory turns to dust
come and fit me like a glove...

Oh Summer, favored amongst all seasons
with your golden rays of Yupik Mesquite
Oh summer, give me all your fiery beacons
lay your leathery heat on me, replete

Oh Summer, Oh Summer, Oh Summer,
you'll be gone soon, now that is a bummer !

Quote: "Be like the sun for grace and mercy. Be like the night to cover others' faults." by Rumi

         ****************

The oak tree is lit up with spots of light,
Leaves bend and spin in a zephyr cloak sprite.
My head is full of hope-related views,
A hushed cobalt lake has stone toes in hues.

Sun shines brightly through rods of flaxen flame,
A buzz surrounds—no day's inklings will maim.
I grasp long-buried schemes from this staid trunk,
And draw the seams of broken dreams in bunk.

A bird's wings are knotted as it flies low,
Swans soar on a green world lit by pearl glow.

Words by: Arthur Vaso
Excerpt from his poem entitled: She
Red, the vibrancy of the rose, hidden. The little garden smiles after the rain,
filled and full of compassion she is my sanity in a world that has gone insane.
She is my sunrise when sunsets are only,.. Flames !

*****
A beautiful sunset flames the horizon but all I do is think of her
the way her fairy red hair glows in an evening's flaxen copper light
The water feels calm and the trees rest easily upon this peaceful earth
but all I want to do is run my fingers through her curls when she smiles !

She sits on a wicker bench, a red rose posed in beauteous charm
scented softly like the gardenias that surround my happy garden
lost in the petrichor that arises after a long awaited rainfall
all I need is to be close to her, closer than the breath of her skin

With a touch barely there the sun rises upon her ivory shoulder
the Flames I've known yesterday can never compare
to this gentle Rose who speaks only the language of love to me
She is sunrise and sunset,... my everlasting Flame!

The other woman I was not the other worldly one I was
with sexy strut she came she did this is what I ghastly did
with a ghoulish voice I spooked and thwarted no applause
no I never did forget the hurt she caused, he caused...

A solitary candle glowed on my gravestone mod it glowed
a putrid smell of stinking corpse arrived when I arrived
like a hunk of foul skunk hidden in an old commode
I sent her goosebumps and a lump of hate archived

Smoke filled the air a tomcat appeared at her heels
with claws, fangs and two angry eyes ready to fight
yanking at her flaxen hair I prepared for a tart meal
as she screamed and screamed, wildly into the night.

The other man he was not the love of my life he was
wearing faded jeans and a Nike T, he goaded me
Slimy slithery things crawled up towards him with a cause,
he never knew what hit him as he burned to the 3rd degree!

marred this mead of honeyed brew
yet flaxen still thy rotten spike
and spoil it so inedible
but haste unto her charge, she will

and grail be this austere cup
to carry off ignobleness
and watch it drain through gullet of
a wrongsome hound, the cad, it must

and mete thy charm, ye witches grail

Premium MemberBefore the Shadows

There was a light once shone in you,
like the softly glowing fireflies,
on sultry summer nights;
in Granville, Tennessee.

Before the shadows crossed your way.

Before the shadows crossed your way.

There was a song once came from you,
in melancholy Gaelic hues,
on each Fall’s golden morn;
your fetching siren’s call.

Before the shadows crossed your way.

Before the shadows crossed your way.

There was a touch once passed from you,
some tiny flaxen butterfly,
that brushed against my lips;
and took away my breath.

Before the shadows crossed your way.

Before the shadows crossed your way.

There was a you that I could feel,
each time we looked or met awhile,
two souls entwined in love;
that ever would be bound.

Before the shadows crossed your way.

Two souls entwined in love;
that ever would be bound.

Before the shadows crossed your way.

Premium MemberUnder a Sky of Celadon -

Under a sky of celadon -
   I watched bees huddle
In frenzied expectation
   Of riding a flaxen petal.

Lupine and globe mallow
   Danced about while sage
Waved at me from below -
   Comprising my entourage.

I saw pale butterflies mingle
   Within dewy creosotes
Then came an argent gale
   Which tugged at their cloaks

And then - the drape shifted
But my vision proves true -
A celadon echo gifted
   To me that sunny interlude.

      Sundial numerals illuminate
Knowing noon narrow shadow arrow strikes
Flicks ‘round corners of maze elaborate
      Heraldic daffodil, dormant out psychs

      Lion, amber assured stride resolute
Teams beside mine, admires canter cloud bounce
Trembled meshing manes make brushstrokes astute
      Abstract turns apparent, rewound amounts

Labyrinth lane secures our fears slumbering
      Canary chortle performs audacious
Honey wine celebrates when Summer brings
Walls torched in lofty laughing blazes

Flung flaxen, fertile wheat fields’ wispy waltz
Scorched xanthe seeds multiply dream results

Chels

Soft as the nights darkness
The speckle in your eye
Those pretty blues
Who wouldn’t choose

Flaxen hair in the air
A beauty that shimmers in the sun
Skin illuminated by the light
So pure and bright

Love filled with such promise
A promise for life
Here today and tomorrow
Forever together
Hitched at the soul

Love combined with such greatness
Souls intertwined as one
A compatibility matched to none
She is the one

"The world is God's pure mirror clear to eyes when free from clouds within"Rumi

Yellow sunrise illuminates night sky
It chases darkness away to the west
Goldfinch sent in to feed by Adonai
Each morning, in so many ways, I'm blessed.

Yellow sun behind gray clouds, stillness looms
Will raindrops begin to fall 'pon the ground
Watering the garden, wash pollen, fumes
Clearing earth's air and all nature astound

No lemony peaks between the clouds' gray
There are no flaxen streaks within the blue
An eerie feel upon the air, dismays
Will unrestrained storm pass unhindered through

Yellow sunrise seems to predict no rain.
Prayers do protect us, those storms detain

The soft yellow streaked the terra cotta, shadowing the speckled sallow saffron
a bluish buff upon the cochineal;brilliant boneblack grizzled the engrain
citrine carnation as the fallow flaxen, rustic rubrical rainbow-tinted
the magenta mandarine;unseen the ultra-marine, tinged burnt sienna,
reflecting a golden flame of raw umbery upon the earth green;bright mosaic gold
mottled the sallow sorrel virent yellow, oak stained the pale apricot;while
blood red, reddish russetdotted the olive lind;freckled crimson,a chestnut maroon,
on fuchsias faded apple green as burnt rumber sank deep into its sanguine slumber.

Palette of color

Vibrant color,
dancing

reflections of
impressionist art,
blaze on deep green water
of mirrored lake,
flaxen and scarlet leaves
heed their reflections

painted lips spread
betwixt the trees,
multicolored leaves swirl
fluttering,

deep blue sky silhouettes
over lake water,
evening dawns

summer songs
fading out,
frosty kiss of autumn lingers.
