Premium MemberBroken Crayons

All of these broken half eaten crayons
walls decorated with mindless nibbles;
Haul out the past of the remodeled house
recall a time of free spirited scribbles;

Trash, treasure that was left to fade
crash erased such carefree lines;
Cash left a masterpiece in rubble
flash forward nothing left that shines.

Flash Forward

flash forward
to the future
where everything
is settled down
a flow will eventually
be created
within the new
version of
reality within
the new realm
of clarity that
the future version
of self will dwell
within
when this present
moment has faded
out of view

Holographic Door

What lies behind the shimmering door,
an elusive stream of light energy ... nothing more
Holographic images that speak
of hazy, future dreams
Postcard holograms of time-folding images ...
Shifting images
Go through the chimera door:
see the future,
was it everything you were hoping for
Share a piece of yourself
that has not developed yet
Shed that part of yourself
that will one day cause so much regret
What lies behind the shimmering door,
an elusive stream of light energy ... or something more
Holographic images that speak
of a clear, future reality
Enter the revolving holographic door,
and go back to the future
Then flash forward to the past,
and bear witness that temporal things don't last
Presently ... as it is written:
all flesh is as grass

A Poem For Jake

Hey, how are you
We don’t talk much
Well I talk, but you?
Not much
I’ve known you for
A while
Since sixth grade
When my bus was late
And I came in
One seat left
We passed papers back
I turned around
And there you were
I froze inside
Flash forward to the fire drill
Where the high schoolers
Screamed weird things
At us
We didn’t talk for a while
After that
But I admired you
From afar
Your bravery
Intelligence
Sports skills
Which I’ll always lack
And kindness
You always were very kind
Last year, we did talk
A lot, in fact
After school almost
Every day
Then we didn’t
This year we only have
A few classes together
And I think that’s how
It’ll stay but
It’s fine
I’ll just notice how
You walk into first hour
Just a little late
Because of clean-up crew
And how you sit in the back
In seventh hour
The teacher made you move
And how you talk to your friends
And don’t notice me
Because you’ll always be you
And I’ll always be me.

Premium MemberFramed

I opened the package.
Another one from mom.

Neath all the wreckage
her handwriting still beckons some.

Was framed with two pics
first was nineteen sixty five.

Seven parents, thirteen kids all
(the eighth parent took the pic).

Flash forward forty years.
Now the second pic.

Six parents (one dead the other divorced)
thirteen kids all came together

in celebration
and grieving, framed for all time beautifully.

Carefully Irrational

My angel wears no halo
Resembling, more closely, a crown of thorns
Stabbing deeper every day
She cries out to me
But I’m too busy
Fighting off the ones
Pounding in the nails

Where do I begin
To make you understand?
It’s not the broken road behind you
It’s the fact that you’re still pressing on

My angel wears no halo
Doesn’t need light to shine
Flash forward through the years
Empty, save our hands clamped together
Standing ever vigilant
Guarding each other
In the stead of absent angels
Just as, for each other
We provide our own personal Heaven

Where do I begin
To make you understand?
It’s not the broken road behind you
It’s the fact that you’re still pressing on

My angel wears no cross around her neck
Too busy with the one on her back
She cries out to me
“Don’t give up on me
You’re the only one who can mend the world around me”
As the tears stream down my face
I relinquish her from the burden
Let me carry it a while
Just take my hand
Just take my hand

Where do I begin
To make you understand?
It’s not the broken road behind you
It’s the fact that you’re still pressing on

My angel wears no halo

Focus On the Future

Flash forward to the future,
Gaze amazingly at your high,
Everyday focusing on the mission,
Knowing you can touch the sky,
Flying past your opponents,
Feeding the hunger of your grind,
Always following the first mind,
It never fells you any of the time,
Gracefully getting older, steadily becoming wise,
Dreams have become real, so still you rise,
You, unique, and undeniably a leader,
Continue to work hard and restrain from being a cheater,
Shed your fears, stand ready for whatever,
Gather your goals, do the impossible,
Always push yourself to do better,
Never let the fire burn out, even in the dark,
Brighten the world, even if it's only a little spark,
Grab goals, never let the car of potential park
