I used to live my life
by planning every step
factoring in every contingency
like a sales pitch for a Life Insurance policy.
I flipped the coin and it landed on its edge.

Sitting on the block of the day
Looking into amethyst abyss
No longer seen as hunter or prey
Disenfranchised like blue cold kiss
Watching the animals fight their wars
Knowing some win some lose
Feeling the wrath of attention whores
Singing their hill street blues
On the block of irrelevant images
Whatever the dress of the time
Homeless roaming toward suttle scrimmages
For resources of food courses limited line
Lemon love served in a soul bowl
From churches so big from no taxes
The church like homeless grow
Seem to me there’s no homeless factoring
We can pay for sports arenas sure
And ship athletes around the world
Leaving disenfranchised potential pure
Of the unhoused blue boys green girls
Sitting on my writer’s block
Not pretending to know wisdoms hacks
Really disenchanted with it all
Maybe my pen can bring me back to black

There’s a feeling called
the drifting force
that makes you want
to shift your course
and find a better vector
on boring study nights.
They’re so many things
a girl starts missing,
like hugging, dancing
and oh, yes kissing,
when she lets a dry syllabus
control her life.
After several hours
of intensive reading,
your intuition is that
what you’re needing,
is something we’ll
politely call ‘delights’.
But you make the almost
painful choice
and factor out your inner voice
and you pick up yet another book
and not a boy,
because, you see - it’s really
a necessity, not a choice.

The day’s warming up by degrees,
or that’s what the optimist sees.
With that being said,
we’re still in the red
when factoring in that stiff breeze.

I'll be there when family's missing
and all your children play games while kissing
the memories of minds they fought dismissing
And you long for the moment we had while listening
To tunes of our youth, of the rock gods rolling
And creatures we made in all of our trolling,
while factoring in our bedroom strolling
in lights of dark hallways, always in calling
Prostitutes laughing at small heads in darkness
we drooled at the chance to make our own mark and
hurried our way into blight and forgot that
which we held sacred and into the hard mess.

no cell phone service
in most of the universe
may make you nervous
original sin
where building of guilt begins
doubts start to creep in
autonomy should
not require lobotomy
only common sense
factoring our roles
finding poverty of soul
digs very deep holes
claim open season
for attacks upon reason
let's untruth sneak in
based on pure meanness
or simple inconvenience
words come between us
a haiku a day
may chase the doldrums away
no bills will they pay

Herding and opening interesting horizon
Ever invigorating
As it has started, it has started
Houses come liberating
Deep into the darkness heaves
Releasing structures deep into the darkness
Factoring number lengths dropped leasing
into the memories bewitching sheltering
turmoils

We instruct our children young,
to unfold their wings and fly
We campaign them from the nest,
always factoring the reasons why
Some will find a domain that’s close
while others browse and stay in flight
We implore they all come home
by the finish of every night
We construct our memories early,
to draw on when we’re old
They migrate back around
to visit and say hello
We hope they never leave,
but some displace so far away
We maintain them in our hearts
and there they’ll always stay
*dedicated to a special friend, whose family went back home very recently*

Time
Now, present a factoring time
Observed moments at presents time
At passages
I am present
I am past
Time is ever-present and future tense God-given time
It's time cyclical
In these times We're humanity present
Time to share, love and dream
Time to be all you can, BE...
Wherein one says that passage of a free-swinging pendulum observing number I value time
Of all those repetitions everyday affairs of life
Remember this humanity
You may be lazy and you may kill timeOne day time gonna kill you

As I lay in sleep's sweet caress,
she places a kiss on my lips.
And as her moist lips gently press;
I feel a movement in her hips.
With a playful tug, her bra slips;
and smiles instantly fill the room.
For as our sweat mingles and drips,
my new bride makes love to her groom.
Her soft, gentle hands massage me
as I rise to the occasion.
And opening my eyes; I see
that my bride needs no persuasion.
Factoring in love's equation,
we weave wishes upon hope's loom.
And on this joyous occasion,
my new bride makes love to her groom.
Dawn's first light paints the morning sky,
as the songbirds begin to sing.
And passion morphs into a sigh;
as she makes me feel like a king.
She sparkles like her wedding ring;
and smells sweet, like roses in bloom.
While we wrestle with sheets that cling,
my new bride makes love to her groom.
My hopes and dreams fledge, taking wing,
fueled by her subtle perfume.
And upon the first day of spring,
my new bride makes love to her groom.

Unquestionably, a marked reaction
is better than withholding all action
Factoring in, of course, the distractions
created by pie-chart wielding factions
Sharing the wealth in minute fractions
while gathering corporate pie rations
without any equal sliced transactions
has become to most an awakened distraction
The laborers pie is sliced way to thin
appeased by slogans, needed votes to win
a smiling face says “Hey, things will change!
Just vote me in and I’ll help rearranged!"
When appealing to a government levy
national debt has crushed the helping Chevy
Sorry, Mr., Ms. and Mrs. American Pie,
we’ve burned the crust and the fruit is dry
You see… humble pie is no longer served
nor meek pie for the poor, deserved
That safety pie we once all adored
now litters a congressional pie-faced floor

A Note To My Algebra Teacher
By Elton Camp
I well recall what you used to say
That we’d use algebra every day
Without it, life wouldn’t be complete
For, with algebra, it would be replete
But factoring equations has yet to arise
And no quadractics, what a big surprise
Slope I haven’t yet needed to calculate
Methinks you did, somehow, misstate
To determine the value of X and Y
There hasn’t yet been reason to try
I find binomial multiplication is of no worth
To ninety-nine point nine percent on earth
A lot more honesty you should have tried
For about the value of algebra, you lied!
I think I know where you are most likely to be
May it have asbestos computers so you can see

The Advantages of Being a Dog
By Elton Camp
A dog never worries about what to wear
For he comes equipped with a coat of hair
Most anything he finds, he’s able to eat
His digestive enzymes with germs compete
If he feels sick and then barfs up his food
He can eat it again and not be thought rude
Fido scratches himself in embarrassing places
Yet nobody seeing it makes disgusted faces
When another dog comes to visit or to stay
He can sniff its behind and that’s okay
If he impregnates some other canine
Everyone thinks that it is just fine
A mutt doesn’t have to learn to read or write
Algebra factoring will not get him in a tight
He doesn’t worry about work or paying bills
To get a sporty new car gives him no thrills
Then no matter how bad his conduct may be
At death, from any fear of hellfire he is free
A dog’s life is one of privileges so great
That many humans would like to emulate

Don’t blame me for the difference
Apart from the variance of time
There is of parentage, location
And factoring in of education
I like the counsel, and its source
Can only be agreed of as wise
My views are judged non-yielding
But first and last . . . its me
Maybe this will help
Biometrics – the id, genes, and history
Rest assured won’t betray you
Even when the thought has been I had
Give my rebellion its chance
I see it won’t end up prodigal
I am armed beyond joey and eaglet
Believe me, I am your boy, and also man
