Airing Wings

We instruct our children young, to unfold their wings and fly We campaign them from the nest, always factoring the reasons why Some will find a domain that’s close while others browse and stay in flight We implore they all come home by the finish of every night We construct our memories early, to draw on when we’re old They migrate back around to visit and say hello We hope they never leave, but some displace so far away We maintain them in our hearts and there they’ll always stay *dedicated to a special friend, whose family went back home very recently*

I'd say your friend is lucky to have you; a friend who cares enough to write a poem about the parting of her/his family. It's heartbreaking.

Thank you Jenna. I don’t know about lucky. Maybe unlucky. Mine still are close by but I’m sure that will change one day

All mine now flown the nest but the youngest went to live in Wales but good news is she's moving back to our town with her family, so they'll all close by. Tom
