I've oft been offered but not tempted by
large helpings of pie in the sky
from too many crooks
who indeed the broth did spoil
and so as not to be sullied
by such greasy oil
I stay out of their kitchen
not because I can't stand the heat
but what's on their menu
ain't my cup of meat
apple or cherry by the slice
with a tasty pastry crust
is not a must but very nice
my absolute fave fit for a King
with taters on top of thee I sing
made with lamb
not beef that's cottage
and personal wish
as the name does imply
is a dainty dish
of homemade shepherd's pie

The serpent's hiss, a venomous dart,
Is honest hate, a tear right to the heart.
But you, you whisper honeyed lies so sweet,
A camouflage, a cunning, cruel deceit.
You smile so wide, a painted mask of care,
While in your eyes, a chilling, vacant stare.
You pat my back, you offer words of praise,
And plant the seeds of doubt in countless ways.
The open foe, I know where they will strike,
Their hatred burns, a flickering, harsh light. I brace myself,
I steel against the blow, at least their malice, I can surely know.
But you, dear friend, are a viper in disguise,
Your poison spreads beneath my very skies.
You bleed me slowly, with a gentle touch,
A double-faced betrayer that's what you are.
You're the worst kind of hater, who likes to stay hidden behind closed walls,
You whisper made stories that should never be told.
I rather have an honest hater, though bitter, they are still truer, than hollow love, projected false by you.

Are gay jockeys fruit of the loom
when riding a race on the course,
and would they need the helping hand
of a leg-up
to get on their high horse?
Would a long-faced horse,
a sourpuss,
not wanting to be a player,
bolt the barn door
or be a neigh-sayer?
If a broke cowboy saddled with a nag,
a dark horse of a different colour
that's *****,
were bent, a crooked rustler,
would he sell you a bum steer?

It seems it’s not just a small group anymore. It’s as if it’s everyone now. This town used to be peaceful and kind doing things for each other. It was so welcoming at first sight. But now it’s as if the walls of the town has started coming in almost closing in on itself. The people have turned into something else. The once cheerful newspaper lady turned her back and become cold. The man who runs the ice cream shop in town isn’t as nice as the double scoops he dips out. Even the clerk at the accountant office calls everyone in town trash. If everyone is what she says why does she even work in the town? It’s as if this town has lost it’s charm. The shine has finally worn off of the town’s sign. The town is nothing but two faced people.

the man’s face was bizarre
He looked like a cartoon that had come to life.
I could not stop staring at him during parent teacher conferences
His son, who looked just like him, acted just like him too.
The water does not spill far from the slammed washtub.

the green faced witch was ugly as they come
We all said it, even her kin from McDumb
She had skills though, we could not deny that
her wand and spells could do damage in fact
she turned her mother-in-law into an owl and stole her away
They did not find her for several years, but finally last May
The owl found her way back, this time as a mean crow.
This time green faced witch buried her where no one will go.

Don’t put on that face
All love and kiss laced
Knowing your heart
And anger, misplaced
Don’t talk down to me
So secretively
While charming the rest
Yet making me bleed
A Christian, you are
A warm, shiny star
Your words are for me
While THEY give you scars
You give me no choice
I have, not, a voice
I must rot in shame
And bow to your noise
You moan and complain
A relentless, cold rain
It bothers you not
You drive me insane
Then grin at the sight
Of someone who might
Not know who you are
And believe you, polite
You then, bow and pray
As if, your last day
Must be convincing
Or followers, stray
I say you’re a fake
I know what’s at stake
You’re only for show
Please give me a break

She was reluctant to take on a pig-faced warrior that day.
Had heard they are vicious, and they do not dally or play.
The sow said, “come on!” in the most arrogant maniacal way.
She turned tail and ran toward the outskirts that day.

** Mother Nature Draws the Dawn **
Already,
Dawn sets off
This longitude’s waking,
Displaying nearby trees
Into their scribbled silhouettes
In shades
Of gray with blasts of black masses —
Points gathered
Fronting the quick brightening over
Yesterday’s leaving darkness,
And bringing forth this day’s white-glazed,
Cloud-faced sky —
Appearing before my sleepy eyes
Without any distinguishable color, and
Simply seen as an unfoldng background —
A lightening
That shows even before the blendings —
With the coming gifts to sight
Of the perception of dimensions
And the aspects of perspective,
To be seen in the expanse beyond my window
In this dawning moment ~
As the world appears quite like
A flattened Earth,
Like a doodled scene
Of blotches and specs — in
Mother Nature’s ink line & wash
Landscape
Created on her personal, unbordered paper.

who is she? curious wind asked the forest trees
unsure at this time, but she has sheep at her knees
fuzzy sheep were silent, not bleating at all
fearful of chubby face herder this fall
she was wearing a dress which made her look like a doll
and yet, by her fierce face, she did not look kind at all
the night gave her a wide path and the wind stole away
and as for her name, this creature never did say

Chet got sheep faced again last night
and was found serenading another chick
his wife bonked him on the head on her way out

William told all he'd wrestle a bear;
For a dime, you could watch and be there.
When all paid and ready,
Bill whipped out his teddy
The crowd thought that was rather unfair!

My muse can sometimes wear a scoundrel’s face.
He flees and hides behind some desert brush,
abandoning me in a barren place
where sweet imagination has no gush!
Of inspiration I can find no trace.
This villain muse subjects me to a drought
and sets the stage with dreary atmosphere.
He scatters prickly pear and rocks about
while vultures seeking carrion come near.
I fear he’s taken my dear hero out!
Where hides my hero muse inside my mind?
He needs to change this horrid wasteland green
and put the villain side of him behind!
I summon forth my hero – Change the scene!
My quill is out! My hero now I find.

Green faced lady who owns a sweet calf
You are truly frightening my other half.
Your elongated face is much like a giraffe.
And we are both terrified of your laugh.
Green faced lady, you look like a witch.
We shudder when you come by to ding doing ditch.
I have heard that you are a tattletale and a snitch.
Your pimply face looks like it has a perpetual itch.
Green faced lady, you are more than the status quo.
I spied you in my dried-up garden, way down below.
You were chewing up my beans, the ones I would like to hoe.
How soon you will change back into a frog, we will never know.
