Twilight was the time of day
as well they do concur
about the hour of crepuscular dusk
or evening if you prefer
there in the gloaming
altho' the light was slightly dimmer
I took a look at the situation
and saw more than quite a glimmer
of absolute absurdity the altercation confrontation
as if every nation were to follow the Law
of Exact Retaliation an eye for an eye
we'd all be sightless both you and I
or Reciprocal Justice a tooth for a tooth
for in truth me and you'd
have nothing at all with which to chew
and all done in the name of what
I'll only surmise
it's just for man to prove he can
if so it could be our demise
as we would find
unable to feed we'd go hungry
while the blind lead the blind

where gossip once flowed in the coffee shops
and sums were not measured in gigaflops
at dawn peaceful stillness often ruled there
now but memory mixed with thoughts and prayers
always comfortable in our own skin
every judgment not a battle to win
lost in the fog of this wandering realm
sailing forward with chaos at the helm
an eye for eye, tooth for tooth, do likewise
life and death became daily exercise
cost of living has different meaning
since misguided missiles went careening
full of guilt and fear til our days are done
constantly searching for home, finding none

Collaboration with Marcello Eans
Every day I walk to work, I tremble with fear,
Not knowing if this morning will be my last.
I’m not certain if I will ever escape from here
And move to a place that won’t judge me for my past.
I can’t say that I’m very proud of what I’ve done,
But it’s only because of my will to survive.
My childhood was full of violence, not fun.
The first time I killed someone, I was only five.
When you live in a country that has only war,
Fighting in this ring of life, no idea what for,
Weapons of mass destruction on the menu daily,
Suicide bombers run rampant and death cries, “Pay me!”
Innocence taken, stripped of your right to be human,
Equivalent of dirt of less, we assess, and we view man.
Assuming an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth,
Turning the other cheek is not the choice that you choose.
I’m an old man now, with a different point of view.
I’ve fought many battles with a lot of anger and strife.
The bad things I’ve done to people I never even knew
Are just visions in my mind from a former life.

Politics, pulling-of-lame-legs game,
To shame the knee-jerk rivals its aim,
An odd set of raiders
All— no team-defenders,
Game lost, and begins a game of blame.
A man in sixties’ a budding youth,
Prejudice passes off as pure truth,
All passion sans reason,
Treason a sole season,
Black seems white, eye for eye, tooth for tooth.
An honest upright bloke’s seldom sought,
But bag-load of deceitful are bought,
Devil's advocates all,
Machiavellian no small,
Nation's name to this lot matters not.
One that fights any length, chair to flip,
A brew of disgrace with foes to sip,
Patriotism to him
A distant way-lost dream,
Man all that till no field, but just reap.

Eye for eye; tooth for tooth,
Age old key to old hitch,
Justice’s way; known from youth,
Consciences’ vexing itch.
Few know death’s row bower,
Lowly know its bare scene,
Some escape through power,
Rich blood trumps poor man genes.
Time goes in ticks and tocks,
Hits midnight and then chimes,
From the jail house wall clock,
Cell opens for last time.
Con, warden, and guard walk,
Chaplain reads from St. John,
Not much need for small talk,
Judgment due; praying done.
Go on stage behind glass,
Viewers wait for the show,
To see con breathe his last,
Justice’s false golden glow.
Curtain pulls, they walk out,
Press reports; mourner’s cry,
No joy or vict’ry shouts,
All left to question why.

What is a missing eye,
If it is not mine?
Be strong,
It is not cause to cry
Nor an excuse to whine.
What is a missing tooth,
If it is not mine?
Be strong,
For a gapped smile, in truth,
Is not a cause to whine.
What is a missing limb
If it is not mine?
Be strong,
Smile and do not be grim
Nor seem, ever, to whine.
What is a missing life
If it is not mine?
Be strong,
And ask a lonely wife
If there is cause to whine?

The arms stretched wide,
“The father who is in heaven”;
Listeners hooked by the tongue,
A congregation, not a coven.
His hair fanned by the slight breeze,
“Hallowed be the master's name”;
Many were sinners few redeemers,
Bashful listeners put to shame.
His eyes glimmered in the sun,
“The kingdom shall come”;
For him, for her and for me and you,
But first, we have to make up the sum.
His pointed finger was obvious,
“Yours will be done on earth;
As it is always in heaven”,
As it is always in birth and death.
The voice got higher and louder,
!Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive the many trespasses”,
Irritated listeners fear of the dead.
“we forgive those who trespass against us,”
Yet they shall never relent and forget;
An eye for an eye, tooth for tooth,
The wicked forever in liability and debt.
“Lead us not to temptation,
But deliver us from evil”;
The listeners looked all over,
Around them, they saw the devil.
For mine is not the kingdom,
No power and no glory,
Crucified forever and ever,
This is the Lord’s prayer story.

You do not know the meaning of motherhood.
That's why you did your disgrace like hood.
You are lower than I thought and I understandstood.
I hope you do not have any youngling for I am about to haunt them with my own malpractice.as much as you.
You will be facing the same thing you try to do unto me.
Eye for an eye tooth for a tooth, by the time I am through
Natural disasters will hit on to you. For you messed with mines now it's my turn.
I know you didn't expect that I will found out what you have done. I only wish I knew how many you have done this to.until I came across your path.
Hell will break loose indeed it will.
Just like mother nature I am going to destroy you.
For this is epic of me.

When I was a youth
Rarely lied, to tell the truth
Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth
Fell down, got right back up
Instead of staying stuck
And not giving a f***
From dawn to dusk
Pushed my luck
Some of which took guts
Was broke thinking that life sucks
Until I started making a lot of bucks
Above the Earth's crust
Was careful with trust
Because I saw too many things that were unjust
And the subject of disgust
Still did what I must
Without a fuss
Got it wrong or right
In the daylight and during night
Living an honest life

Finally reaching the ending
No longer spend time pretending
Relinquishing bonds and ties
Visual prowess possess my eyes
I see the bitter truth
Taking eye for eye tooth for tooth
Anxieties wont let me speak
Still turning the other cheek
Hanging into an invisible noose
Spending time alone I recluse
I'll end it like the death note
Leave a legacy
Escaping the southern misery
My antidote

Psst. Hey Joan, listen closely now.
As I whisper and tell you how.
There's something I need you to do.
Bring the spirit of spirit into view.
Cast your cares upon the sea.
I promise not to forsake thee.
In a world of unspoken truth.
You have the wisdom of my eye tooth.
The lands are fraught with dark disdain.
As one side wins nothing to gain.
While one fights for the right to stay.
Knowing blue sky's too long been grey.
The cloak of righteous fervor waits.
As you lay there outside the gates.
Unholy justice now's been cast.
Your future lie's upon our past.
