The Lord's Prayer Story

The arms stretched wide, “The father who is in heaven”; Listeners hooked by the tongue, A congregation, not a coven. His hair fanned by the slight breeze, “Hallowed be the master's name”; Many were sinners few redeemers, Bashful listeners put to shame. His eyes glimmered in the sun, “The kingdom shall come”; For him, for her and for me and you, But first, we have to make up the sum. His pointed finger was obvious, “Yours will be done on earth; As it is always in heaven”, As it is always in birth and death. The voice got higher and louder, !Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive the many trespasses”, Irritated listeners fear of the dead. “we forgive those who trespass against us,” Yet they shall never relent and forget; An eye for an eye, tooth for tooth, The wicked forever in liability and debt. “Lead us not to temptation, But deliver us from evil”; The listeners looked all over, Around them, they saw the devil. For mine is not the kingdom, No power and no glory, Crucified forever and ever, This is the Lord’s prayer story.
