Roses Are Red

Remember the way we jumped up and dOwn
oh our Smiles, hEarts beating like flapping wingS
shouting gloriously for all our efforts to be repaid
everyone to their feet, except the defeated
simultaneous combustion of crowds

arena in disArray, embarrassment in full display
Rendered eye for eye, tooth for tooth
easy eyes fluttEr to the basement floor

remember the day, the Bird was snatched away
extraordinary Lala land, we played the game
desperate, we came unglUed.  lost my left shoE
