While Wendy* writes with whimsy, wit,
Poor Peter pens pedantic prose.
Sonya spins sublime, sweet sonnets,
Bernardo’s ballads badly blow.

How heavenly has Heather honed,
Alas, Alicia: anguish, angst.
Tammy’s timbre: thrilling, tasteful.
Ralph’s rhymes: repeating, rarely ranked.

Seems some sing sharp, succinct, short songs;
Oft others’ odes, odd, obfuscate.
Muses marking / missing meter,
Enrapture else excruciate.

Premium MemberCouple's Nuclear War

Every now and again we go nuclear
Two archaeologists dusting off the past
Hurting with words as sharp as swords
It’s all over for twenty-minutes, dead.
Then the air clears and red mist departs
You smile at me and I laugh with you

My head's on your legs, hand in my hair
I’m insecure, pained, afraid, a baby
For a month or more, we understand
Not a cross word, a team, united together
Then pressure of our closeness, routine
Another nuclear clash no-holes barred, war

The peaks so sweet and troughs excruciate
Harmony reigns we are king and queen
Inseparable, colossal, two towers of strength
Me by your side and you by mine forever
Both stubborn as mules, immovable frown
Digging our heals in, pawing the ground

Me Aquarius, you Taurus, death, not surrender
You’re the adversary, you’re love, you’re friend
Can’t live without you, won’t live without you
Afraid of losing you, afraid of keeping you
You’ll never control me, I’ll never rule you
Christ, it’s all quiet now on the western front!

Premium MemberWords

There’s nothing finer, in a sense,
Than certain words in present tense.
Words which are incredibly,
Etched on your mind indelibly.

Immaculate, petulant, magnificent, sinew,
Incredulous, superfluous, to name just but a few.
Sacrament, procrastinate, intestate - may seem,
Draconian, Dickensian, obsolete, obscene.

Gratuity, embouchure, gnaw with silent 'g',
Juggernaut, cantankerous, words which I must decree,
Are remarkably, stupendously, fantastically sublime,
And should be used magnanimously, each and every time.

Biblical, whimsical, statistician, brie,
Words which are surprisingly, absolutely free.
Insatiable, perpetuate, onomatopoeia,
Existential, exemplary, words you shouldn’t fear.

Exponential, candid, xylophone or muse,
Malign versus benign - never to confuse.
Reptilian, gazillion, fragility, beguile,
Elucidate, excruciate, go the extra mile.

Psychopath, pedestrian, sesquipedalian,
(That last word I must admit is somewhat alien),
But never doubt, you have some clout, with words that randomly,
Demonstrate, accentuate a sense of liberty.

Anxiety

Few lessons to learn,
From the echoes of past.
Some music of dance,
To emancipate yourself.

A silent river,
Encircled the green grass.
A moment to contemplate yourself.

Like circles of shadows,
Amidst the chaos.
As death whispers,
Like scintillating echoes.

So simple is the life,
So silent is your pursuit.
A mighty leap of time,
And a failed attempt to excruciate yourself.

A few lessons forgotten,
A few forsaken dreams.
The adrenaline of free fall,
Like life at its extremes.

The adventure of life created,
Just a deception to liberate yourself

Only Provident

Blot out the whole emerging gesture
To demonstrate leading astray thy pace;
Don't rebound to toil and wrestle,
Be temperate tilt not at any rate!

Outrun ne'er surpass in celebrity quartan,
Submission ties settle better productive gain;
Prepare to ignite flame of fixed canon
Must evade excruciate feeble in vain;

Riches give delight yet defend not,
Slaking thirst aqua less attract rabies;
Pride of sagacity weak riot crazy spot,
Mere contentment if alive relay miseries;

Deny not troth behave alike recuperation
Spurt what ambition turn amative thee;
Man! thou hold energy to alter cultivation
Please the almighty by culminating blemish free;

Only provident would give certain dexterity
With vigour, venture, assume design marvelous;
Where its sacred light confirm privity:
Personality seems observing rare not fabulous.

Premium MemberThe Murder That Didn'T Work Out

Once upon a fate
She took some pills
to try to kill
the pain excruciate.

Then went to bed
her soul unfed
already dead
when someone's deity or other said,

“Murder's not a real good way
out, mostly 'cause it's not a way
out and you could end up finding your way.
Entirely up to you is all I'm gonna say.”

Then she woke up
and went to the emergency room
where they detoxed her system while she cogitated on
Thou shalt not kill.

Forswunk, forlorn, fortuitist
Or distrusted flurry.
Formulist, forswatt, formidable,
And excruciate person.
Exceptional, exasperate or excommunicated,
Depressed, execrate excrement for mankind,
Poor or disappointed,
Disadvantage, disavow human,
Indigestion indology.
