Alliterative Assassin

While Wendy* writes with whimsy, wit, Poor Peter pens pedantic prose. Sonya spins sublime, sweet sonnets, Bernardo’s ballads badly blow. How heavenly has Heather honed, Alas, Alicia: anguish, angst. Tammy’s timbre: thrilling, tasteful. Ralph’s rhymes: repeating, rarely ranked. Seems some sing sharp, succinct, short songs; Oft others’ odes, odd, obfuscate. Muses marking / missing meter, Enrapture else excruciate. ————— *nobody known knowingly named for the Alliteration - Old or New Poetry Contest sponsored by Joseph May written on 02/07/2022

Nope, Jeff, you didn't murder the form. You wrote an excellent, rhyming alliterative poem with meter. Not easy to do, but you've succeeded masterfully.

Go for it, Jeff. I'll be gone for a couple of weeks starting on this Thursday, so my spot will be open! I notice a name will drop off with about a week in inactivity.

Just wanted to say, I really appreciate your encouragement and comments. I ran across the "community" list, and thought, what a great idea! So I'm trying to follow your great example and provide comments on others' poems as well.
