Premium MemberExpanding Hell

No paradigm of peace will ever dwell
Upon the land of evil and the outcasts
Who are not evil, but were born in hell
And this alienates them from the lucky ones
Who despise those unfortunates, believing
They’ve drawn the short straw they deserved for sins
Of their forefathers, which seems merely decieving
To the unfortunates, for they’re not welcomed in
The lands of lucky, and those habitants of hell
Don’t understand the laws of kinship from the Bible
And this exacerbates their fates so well
That makes them feel a bit upset about arrival
And so predictably they hate the lucky ones
And so the lucky hate those people in return
The only option left is to load up the guns
Expanding hell, for reason possibly unknown
The explanations become vaguer, there is no
Plain truth to tell, and every fool looks pensive
Although when killing is the only way to go
Both sides meet hell for being too defensive.

GRIEF-STRICKEN

In life’s lowest moments, it is challenging to gather the strength to rise again.
The hurt and pain decapitate your reasoning. Your functions and extremities are paralyzed, it's like falling into an endless pit. Nothing in life matters in that moment, even the wind on your face exacerbates your grief and agony.

In that moment in time, there is nothing to look forward to or to live for, and you feel like you're trapped in that timeline forever.

The hardest thing to do is to take that first step. To know in your heart that you deserve to move toward the light and heal and go through your metamorphosis, and to embrace your reality. That is true strength from within. To transform and evolve and to become a new and better version of yourself.

All Talk, No Action

They are now but cash cows
(a trough in which to quaff)
for the many attendees
who sit on long-winded
Government-funded investigation committees
no one around to hear the sound
(of what falls in the woods)
while their coffers swelled
for all the papers printed on the ecology
more than several trees were felled
the fracking drilling boring too
(found underground)
wastes water in copious quantities
releases greenhouse gas
and undermines the earth in the final analyses
deliberate discussion and debate
('til the cows come home)
to which they are compelled
only exacerbates the issue
of global warming
with all their hot air expelled

DETACHED

A PITCH BLACK NIGHT WITH A LOUD SILENCE AROUND ME EXACERBATES MY FEARS

WAITING FOR DAWN TO SET, I CRINGE MY TEETH AND UNDERGO INVOLUNTARY SHAKING AND A COLD SWEAT. TREPIDATION RADIATES DEEP DOWN TO MY CORE.

PARANOIA AND DELUSION SYNCHRONIZE AND EXPLODE INTO A PANIC ATTACK.

A SKY WITHOUT STARS, A FOREST, WITHOUT TREES.
A HUMAN BEING WITH JUST HIS SHADOW AS A COMPANION

MY IMAGINATION RUNS WILD LIKE A BOBCAT DEEP IN THE MOUNTAINS WITH ONLY ONE OBJECTIVE, TO SURVIVE....

Admonitions Concerning Poetry Competitions

Tasks, by their very nature
are often painful to perform.
Polysyllabic pedantry exacerbates undertakings unnecessarily.
Strict contest-runners rate your
adherence to the stipulated norm.

Would Robert Frost perform feats
of wordplay? Or leave forsaken
such boring chores? I airily
dare opine this, for Keats,
is the road not taken.

Like rednecks have their gun,
and German shepherds have muzzles,
one posits, all too warily,
that poets need their fun:
like doing harmless crossword puzzles.

Premium MemberSo - - - 2024

Resolutions for the year,
Does anybody keep them?
But just for kicks
I'll make myself a list then . . .

Be up by seven - no - eight
In the morning.
Keep snooze as a backup
For a more relaxed dawning . . .

Though three items is all
You seem to recall,
Can't you find a way to
Remember more - say four?

And STOP saying sorry!
You know it irritates.
And self doubt and insecurities
It exacerbates.

And you know that Superwoman
Is too far from what you are
So stop beating yourself up...
No one can reach the stars.

You'll save yourself embarrassment
If at times you smile and nod along.
Don't make it so obvious
That you've no clue what's going on!

And when the penny drops.
It's not a sudden revelation.
Remember, you're just catching up
With those in your association.

Don't make yourself those promises
That you know you cannot keep.
Such as losing weight
Or getting better sleep.

You're obscure, unique
A little quirky and quite strange.
This is how you're known and loved.
It's important. DO NOT change!

Premium MemberThe Winter Storm

Arctic opens giant mouth
Blows chilled breath
Across the frozen tundra
Down, down across state after state
Heading south, southeast dipping deep

Poet sits with chilled ankles and feet
By the glow of her computer moon
North winds whip naked oaks
Uninvited breeze enters seemingly safe room

Heat pump's silence exacerbates
Wind gust's lifting of the roof
Stirring of the wind chimes
Their hollow sound being driven
Into a voice of frenzy

A thinning, gray headed man snores
Heat pump clicks on
Temporary relief for chilled feet
As the poet tries to visualize

Those oaks that get no relief
Except when gusts slow
Oaks' dead brown leaves are tossed
Dried, crinkled left 'pon the cold earth
As a temporary blanket of warmth

Strong gusts break weakened limbs
Their occasional crash frightens
Any leaf left hanging by a brittle stem gives way
To the breath blown from the arctic's giant mouth

Premium MemberOur Beautiful Blue Planet

Our beautiful blue planet is in pain;
Rebuffing failed attempts to put things right,
climate change but exacerbates the strain.

The Earth will never be the same again,
and because Man claimed it as His birthright;
Our beautiful blue planet is in pain.

Destruction was wrought for so little gain,
mountains leveled, and forests set alight;
climate change but exacerbates the strain.

Earth's oceans were raped, its wildlife was slain,
and due to Man's greed and lack of foresight;
Our beautiful blue planet is in pain.

Melting permafrost releases methane
as the arctic ice fields reflect less light;
climate change but exacerbates the strain.

Earth's rivers and lakes, thanks to acid rain,
empty, as clear as glass; no fish in sight.
Our beautiful blue planet is in pain;
climate change but exacerbates the strain.

The Burt Reynolds

Time’s never obliged ~
Heedless, impetuous fame
Exacerbates traits…
But factitious facades fade
UV-rays on gelcoats, craze…

Retouch, unfinished ~
Tide oblivious, streams on
Rising and ebbing…
Eyes old smile recognition
Young ones urge explanation…

Names so soon obscure ~
Ocean sinking impetus
Leaves afloat, excerpts…
Darn! That cannonball race zipped!
Speedy generations flash…

Viral Verbosity

Deliberately debating a debilitating disease,
Excruciates and exacerbates existential ease.
Loquaciously lugubrious her lacrimonious wailing,
Instilled in me an ignominy of incongruous assailing.
Galling in its gargantuan, garrulous gainsaying,
Hypocritical hyperbole it goes without saying.
Tormenting me with tales of her tinnitus tintinnabulation,
Forced me to fulminate with ferocity and damnation.
Until, unambiguously, I uttered my interdiction,
Life's too short and your lassitude would test a Saints benediction.

The Mask Has Slipped

I'm disillusioned of this modern world
This quantum, promise-palter singularity most days leaves me hollow like empty Technology

Picture an old colour tv- tubeless workless-
abandoned on an urban bombsite; that's me

Deep unsettled forebodings haunt my sleep, itself a fitful deal

On better days, I see the plan
But most days the pit looms larger than an internal universe of anxious raving racing outward expansion

It's possible I've aged enough - just enough, mind - to have become the prick the younger me kicked against.
Not likely though. The evidence overwhelms.
This time-ripping exponentiality denies all of my feeble tries at the explanatory

Let's see, shall we?
The ineptitude of THAT maternal platitude both exacerbates and contradicts the corollary
You see? That's the point now.
The Mask has slipped
And has anyone even noticed?
Let's see.
Let us see.
To whom do we make this silent plea?

Ouch That Hurts

Drifting dreamily
betwixt and between
just before waking
as dawn slowly breaks
a tranquil place
I love to be
stretching gently
my legs from sleep
when
suddenly
my peace is shattered

A morning ritual
begins to descend
unwelcome
unwanted
it truly is no friend

I scream out loud
excruciating pain
I cannot move
expletives abound
holding my breath
I struggle to turn
cramps unrelenting
whilst trying to stand
Parkinson’s exacerbates
my getting out of bed
and all the while
the pain
such pain
I never want
to sleep again

Standing now
I press down hard
to alleviate the pain
my calf now feeling
battered and bruised
this daily ritual is
truly wearing me down…

Written 13th June 2019
after yet another vicious attack of the cramps at 4.30 am…

The Rhyme Game

Glowing candles flicker an imminent grief,
Undulant meadows sink then moments brief,
A recluse in silence deep, torment lies only if
Truth recoups when heavy gravels lift,
An answer wayward a curse or a gift.

Cowslips they unfold of features like Jen,
Savages abscond when clock strikes ten,
Perverse acts send hungry crowds lighten,
Hubris hold invariably the psyche taken,
Perils unforeseen pulses of men quicken.

Children's lax inexpiable chides mother,
Intrinsic in nature mud ponds splatter,
Bare foots they wrestle, would spectators rather?
Such complacency splits its odd feather,
A pervasive yet reprehensible matter.

Pictures in frames of tumultuous memories,
Mutinous rogues, malevolent the eye that sees,
To confer one's wish in return good ceases,
Tentative strokes across sheets her will flees,
Exacerbates her desires tenfold with ease.
